This is a super cute game! The mechanic and the pixel art are awesome. I especially like the design that the player can stand on the knifes. Great Job!!

Thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed the game :)

Very nice game! I liked how this game felt fair. It always gave you options on what to do even when you got a bad roll. Really well designed in that way!

How far do you have to go to meet the chef? I thought at first 100m but I got to 123 and still no chef :D

Developer(+1)

Glad you enjoyed playing our game. Yes, we spent a lot of time tuning the balance, and I'm happy that it feels fair.   The game is infinite, so you will never find the chef, unfortunately. Thanks for playing :)

Very neat platformer! Didn’t expect it to be so hard! The art and music make a great pair. Congratulations to both of you on delivering such a polished game!

Great game! The art and music are super charming, and progression was really fun once you got the hang of it! It did sometimes feel like you were dealt an impossible hand, especially since the platforms seem to disintegrate after a while, so it might be interesting to give the player some special abilities to use in a pinch when dealt a bad hand.

Nice job! :)

Hi there! Thanks so much for playing our game, and thanks for your kind comment :D We might consider adding some special abilities in case the player falls, but we didn't have any time to do so during the jam.

I'm amazed! This was a very well-made game, super polished, everything just feels nice... The gameplay loop was quite addicting, I found myself retrying all the time, thinking I could've done better, it was really nice to nail that feeling down under a short time. I got a highscore of 118 and I actually might play it even further! I am using a strategy where the cola blocks all the incoming bullets, and I stand on the bowl.

I didn't find any bugs while playing the game, huge good. I really like the cute pixel art style as well, with the big dice in the background that shows clearly what was going to happen, and their appropriate icon. The background art is also nice, it doesn't disturb the flow of the game, but does put you in that restaurant feel. Not to mention the audio, super polished as well, a cute little background music and that restaurant chattering... Feels really nice, especially completed with slowmo and knife storm music. Everything from the bullets, the queue, and the death and restart animation looks very good and clear. The post-processing in the game is also very well-done. One of the best games from the jam!

EDIT: I forgot to mention... The dice roll mechanic is also very well-implemented. It is put in a way where the different rolls greatly impacts the player's decisions, however, it doesn't feel like you just lose because of a bad roll, it mostly comes down to skill and how you overcome a situation. Amazing game... Also I got a new highscore

Wow! Thanks for the long reply :) Yes, we put a lot of effort into polishing this game, and I (the programmer/composer in our 2-people team) barely slept lol. We play-tested this game a lot, and it took hours to adjust the balance of the game (especially how to create semi-random dice so that players don't get bullied by it) I'm very glad that you enjoyed the game and noticed the details, it means a lot to us! Great job on getting your new high score! (I will probably make a personal high-score system and a global high-score system soon. This way, the players can feel the sense of competition and feel the need to improve their skills.) Thanks a million mate :)

Yummy, sushi! Its a pretty creative idea for the theme, the graphics and audio were great, I liked that there were visual and sound effects appearing on different occasions.

Cool concept! Art is really cute and the adaptive soundtrack is a really great touch that adds a lot. Just a tiny complaint, but for some reason I couldn't double jump off of the chopsticks which caused me to die a couple times. Nice game though!

A little difficult for me, but I love it! Good art, good sound, and good idea! It's a great work

That was really cool!

I think you have a very unique concept here that's enjoyable to play. It's one of those games that's easy to learn but really hard to master.  I can see some people playing really fast after some time.

I would suggest to adding controller support and instead of placing platforms free-form to align them more to the grid. That way you can increase the play speed without punishing "bad aim". I think the gameloop of deciding where to place platforms and dodging objects is the main focus, having to aim precisely feels like taking away from the fun of the loop.

Presentation, music and sfx were great!

Awesome submission!

It reminds me of Pompom except more arcade-like and with the dice thing. I had fun.

This already feels like a complete mobile game, the game loop was addicting and it always taunts me to try and beat my high score. Although at 60m+ the spawn rate of chopsticks and knife are too frequent to dodge :) Congrats on finishing the jam !

Awesome concept and implementation! Solid presentation and enjoyable gameplay... Really nice work!

This is a neat original concept. The presentation is stellar! Found the control setup a bit awkward. Maybe it is my aging hands, but I think you could have eliminated the need for a mouse and then had your right-hand used for jumping and laying down platformers. Or maybe used LMB for jumping and RMB for spawning the platforms.

I found this game fun but difficult. I never got used to the controls but it was still fun to see all of the different effects of the dice!

From the moment you launch the game and it hits you with its cute start screen and music, to the moment of panic dodging a knife storm (!!), this game exudes care and polish throughout. I never memorized what each die roll means, but the simple indicators that appear (such as the progress bars for the events) made it easy to read. The character is adorable, and I liked how small bits of rice fall off when you double jump. I got as far as 120M before succumbing to the consequences of my slightly aggressive playstyle, but it rarely felt unfair.

One thing I'd have liked to see is an option to duck under chopsticks, though it would complicate the otherwise really simple controls, I missed having an option to dodge other than trying to make the tight jump over them. I also didn't see myself using the double jump to save a fall often, though that may be due to my playstyle of trying to rush forwards.

One of my other highlights from this game is the excellent sound design. The restaurant ambiance track combined with the parallax background gives it the right atmosphere, while the soundtrack itself morphs dynamically to what is going on ingame, making it feel like a very cohesive experience as you jump from floating plate to floating cup behind the safety of a floating soda can. Overall, amazing and polished entry, good job to the both of you!

Hi there! Glad you noticed so many details of this game :D Thanks for such a long and insightful comment, I truly appreciate it! Nice chatting with ya! Your game is awesome too (especially the fact that you made the engine and it's running so smoothly)!

Amazing game concept ! The art, music and gameplay are really good !

Too bad we can't double jump from chopsticks :/

That's a very clever and cute little game! You balanced it very well, with the spacing between rolls being very reasonable, having collisions enabled for the projectiles and the platforms you placed!

Loved it through and through!

Hi there! Played your platformer game before, and it was awesome! Thanks so much for the kind comment :D
