Really well done. Very good mechanic. I also liked the UI animations, which aren't something I've seen in any other submission (yet).
One thing to improve, in my opinion, would be to have some enforced sort of idle period after a catch/snap. Especially for some of the more difficult fish I would occasionally end up casting to some random spot because I was wildly clicking to reel in. Simply blocking input for a something like a second or two, perhaps in conjunction with some UI feedback about the catch would solve that issue.
Thank you I appreciate your kind words!
Your suggestion is also good and I agree, that would have been a good way to handle it instead of having to reel in after a accidental throw!
I really liked this fishing system, catching fish was really fun
Thank you! I really appreciate the kind words!
I request that there be an inventory or achievement so that I can showoff that I caught the Bewm Cat without Leviathan's Grip.
Fun implementation, I loved that the bait can be used to lure them closer. The only thing i would say this needs to improve on is adding some sounds, and some bait that only attracts certain fish so that the boss has to be worked towards.
Thank you for the feedback! Also very impressive that you managed to catch the boss without the final upgrade when I struggle to catch it even with the last one !
Glad you enjoyed the game!
I lured him close to the boat with the bait, then when he grabbed i kept doing short quick pulls into different directions so that he changed his pull direction. so by the time he ran out of strength he wasnt off the map. I also got lucky and he swam towards me during one of the reelings
Great job, liked that you could see what you could potentially catch (made it easier to avoid the stronger fish when using a weaker rod). Good strategy game
Thank you for the kind words!
Excellent game, simple and fun! Interesting fishing mechanics. Unfortunately, there was no sound during the play. I made it to the end, I think, and that's when I caught the boss, or that's not the end? :D
Thank you for the kind words!
Yeah I didn't have time to add any, that deadline came quick!
The boss is officially the end, well done! :D
Great Entry, Fishing mechanic is very good, game assets all fit well. A lot of potential. Improved UI Styling and Sound Design/music are the main improvements needed. Also so badly wanted to be able to drive the boat. Upgrades should have been more expensive also.
This is my favourite fishing mechanic so far.
Thank you for the kind words!
Sound and Music was something I wanted to add but I ran out of time unfortunently.
A more fishing appropriate UI would have been good indeed!
I didn't think about driving the boat around but its a good idea :D
The upgrades were intentionally made easy for this gamejam so people would not have to sit and play for hours and hours :D
I really appreciate all the feedback thank you!
You should make a game page for this game I want to share it with some of my friends that weren't in the game jam.
Hey thanks! I thought I made this page public for anyone
https://mariusworks.itch.io/ryan-laley-games-game-jam-2024
If that isn't public what do I need to do?
Well made! This was fun enough that I made it all the way to the final rod! Neatly fits the Minigame theme as well. Solid work.
Thank you so much!
Very well made!
Thank you!
I really enjoyed this one, and catching the Wels catfish was truly challenging. I failed so many times but something kept me "hooked" (see what I did there) ;)
Haha thank you and thank you for the kind words!
Excellent job. My favorite so far, very well done and fun to play.
Thank you! I really appreciate it!
I had so much fun that i decided to catch EVERY fish in the end ^^ The Focus on the mechanic makes this so addicting. I would have like a more interesting world to look at while fishing. One Bug, when i had enough money to buy a good rod before buying a worse one, after buying the worse rod the strength of the worse rod is used. Good work overall!
Thank you! I really appricate the kind words!
Yes I was planning on making some more assets to put under the water etc. but I ran out of time unfortunently.
Also I hope the bug didn't break the game for you, a restart should iterate through the rods correctly again and set the higest one as active!
