This is super cute! I felt hurt every time I let a cat get eaten lol.

Developer

The biggest motivator to save them all :)

Thank you for playing!

is there a winning rescue number im supposed to reach? i love the use of dither here!

Developer(+1)

Thank you!

There are a total of 55 cats to be rescued / lost with a success screen once all are accounted for.

I really set that number a bit too high for the jam, but it was a fairly arbitrary last minute decision due to other features not making the cut.

Will review that aspect post-jam :)

Ridiculously cute game! Excellent art and music and very creative use for the jam's theme.
Ship felt a little confusing to control at the start, but once I got used to it, it wasn't a problem anymore.
Great job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for playing!

I may take a look back over the controls and see if any improvements could be made.

I'm happy for stumbling upon the music by Tallbeard as it really brought things together at the end.

Beautiful visuals, with a simple, intuitive and nice gameplay!

Developer

Thank for playing!

Love the art, and the ship feels great to control! Nice color palette too!

I do wish the game had a few more sound effects- however, I don't know if I could bear hearing the kittens being chomped due to my incompetence and poor boating skills

Developer(+1)

Thank you!

I would like to add sound effects, but I will try to keep them on the cheery side :)

Poor kittens, I saved 44 of them ! I feel like it could have add some meaning if you added a deadline, like a bar that gets refilled each time you save a kitten. It could also maybe give bonuses, like enhancing vision or improving speed for a short distance? Still great work for a one-week game jam !

Developer

I really like those ideas of getting bonuses from saving the kittens.  I will give that some consideration when working on updates for the game.

Thank you for playing!

So cute, with the entertaining music and creature animations!

Controlling the ship was a bit confusing at first, but after some time I managed to get the hand of it and enjoy it 😁

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing!

I will take look at ways I can tweak the ship controls going forward :)

Submitted(+1)

I like the art. One problem is with the reason to play. It is not clear how to win and what time is about. It will be pretty cool game if you fix that.

Thanks for the feedback!

Yea, initially the plan was have endless waves of cat spawns as well as escalating difficulty via new creatures appearing. I also thought that having too many cats get shark-attacked would cause a fail state, similar to boat health, and the timer was to track how long you survived.

Scope changed to meet the deadline and the timer is a hold over from that.

Will see what I can get added in the weeks post-jam :)

A very well-made, clean arcade game. It's cute and has murder, what's not to love?

Developer(+1)

The two perfect ingredients to any game :)

Thank you for playing!

Feels very clean and polished! A calming game!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much!

I'm glad to hear that you found it calming :)

Loads of fun! Some of the kittens didn't make it.

Developer

They will be in our hearts forever <3

Glad you enjoyed it :)

Really great art, and the movement was smooth sailing too! A win condition and maybe a little more depth like a boost would have been nice, but, alas, time constraints so I'm sure I'm not telling you anything new.

Developer(+1)

Definitely had to make some tough decisions on scope to meet the deadline.

I have plans to revisit and add a short speed burst ability as well as some additional creatures of the sea, hopefully.

Thank you for playing and I appreciate the feedback :)

I loved how yo uused the 1-bit graphics like that, the light effect, the colors...I really enjoyed it. Well done!

Developer

Thank you so much!  I'm glad you liked it!

Saving cats is always cool :)

Submitted(+1)

Beautiful true 1-bit graphics, very nice chillaxing music which fits the game feel even though it doesn't quite fit the subject matter of cats being eaten by sharks haha.

Developer

Thank you for playing!

Ha, I did consider that when making the music choice, but something about the cheery vibes continuing while the sharks close in on the kittens just felt right to me :)
