Cute. Reminds me of something you'd find on a flash site in the 90s. Soul. Very comfy.

This is a fun little game with some frantic dodging and enough randomness to keep runs fresh. It has an early 3D look that I think complements simplicity of the game.

There are things that need to be worked on. The bat barrage is way too random. I'm certain getting to 30 stars requires some luck no matter how good you are. I got to 30 stars and I'm glad I did. The ending was kino.

I enjoyed myself with this one. This is a solid start to game development.

I'm glad i tried hard cause the little cutscene at the end was peak

Reminds me of Q'bert and flash games. I really dig the difficulty progression, it's actually pretty good - gets tougher the more you play. Nice!

Flying birds from door attack is BRUTAL, mainly cus it's hard to understand what squares are gonna be affected by it.

Didn't finish it, but I managed to get to 20 stars a couple of times.

Cool stuff, needs more different enemies and more floor layouts.

Has a lot of depth even with how short it is and is very engaging and fun. I recommend making a mobile version and making the graphics have a little more detail in the animation framaes, and people would like it there. Also needs music.

I did it! Took me waay too long, this game is hard. It is pretty addicting but I despise those doors that spawn enemies. They are soo hard to dodge, it's not really clear which tile they are targeting and they can overlap with other things and make it impossible. Personally I don't think the early 3d look fits for this kind of game, I would prefer some more cutesy 2d sprites but that's subjective.

as a noob myself, i'm extremely impressed of what you were capable of making in such a short time.
great job!

I expected more from the thumbnail but for a first project this is pretty solid. Obviously needs some work in terms of juice/polish but a good prototype.

Fun little game! I feel like you could polish it, juice it, and ship it, honestly.

  • Others have mentioned WASD movement, that was my first instinct as well.
  • The flying bats/birds it was hard to tell what squares they actually affected.

This game rocks so hard. I love the aesthetic, and it's pleasantly challenging

Fun little game. I will say that you did a good job making my imagination run wild with your itch thumbnail...

Fun game desu, had more fun than with the 2 I played before in that video, though those were more polished I guess.

It’s great that movement is instant, gives high potential for sick moves. Star pickup sound is satisfying. Final cutscene had unexpected high quality :-D

Biggest complaint, no WASD movement. Easy enough to implement both control schemes simultaneously.

Short game. Basically it is as if tictactoe was built by a historically gladiatorial caste system. Collect the stars, get a high score style arcade game. I did the math and determined that there as a point at which the player cannot win because all liberties are covered by a projectile object; as the speed of the objects increases over the course of the gameplay.

Not sure if the frequency of objects appearing resets after each run. Found that if you sit on the game over screen, you can see how the randomly spawned obstacles progressed their spawn time delay. Not sure if this decreases all the way to zero.

Either way, not bad for a simple game. I would like to see a larger playfield at some point.

Yeah I'm not sure how I forgot WASD.... oops

To pull the curtain back a bit, the difficulty only scales on time passed twice as like you say otherwise there would be too many "oops you died lol" situations. Once you get 30 stars the purple imp characters become more accurate and faster because I'm nasty and didn't want anyone to think they could live forever.... thanks for playing!
