Using the right modes to complete the levels was a nice challenge! The artwork was also really cute! I really liked the plot of turning the phones to airplane mode!

Super cute game. The art and music give it a really relaxing tone! The modes are really distinct and I felt like I was really rooting for Charlie so it was nice to have that connection. I do feel like the movement could use some fine-tuning. Nice work!

The art direction is very cozy and fantastic, my eyeballs were pleased. Switching modes felt fun and snappy. Wish there was more to play, but there's only so much time to work.

Gorgeous and fun little game, I really love the idea of switching between Frog and Monkey mode for double jumps or wall climbing respectively! I'd love to see some more levels since I was really getting into the swing of things by the last level, awesome work!

Developer(+1)

Glad you enjoyed it! Unfortunately level design isn't my strong suit, that's why I threw the level editor in as a cop out :P

The art is beatiful and very cute. it took me a bit to get used to the physics, but when i did, the game is a lot of fun and i can see a lot of potential in the level designs, especially that last level, so good. i'm getting ahead of myself but maybe there should be button bindings for instant mode switches to a specific animal so that if there was a level where you have to use multiple abilities in a row, you can do it. Amazing work, i love it!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! The bindings are an interesting issue, we specifically went for 3 modes to allow instant access to all of them with 2 buttons but there are definitely cases where specific bindings would have been better. Support for more/custom configurations was on the to-do list but unfortunately not high enough up to make it in :(

Lovely art and music, really suits the gameplay well. Really impressive for a first jam!

really cute

Super cute and relaxing, definitely stands out for me in this jam

Cute game! i really like the art, and i think we're all suckers for cats :p it was a really good take on the theme as well. good job overall!!!

Submitted(+1)

It's cute! I like the idea  a lot. The platforming feels a little bit stiff to me, I'm not sure why.

Really fun to play and very challenging, love the cat and how you have to plan your moves in order to win. The art is the best part of the game! very cute and cozy!

The main menu is just perfect...

You achieved a very cool game art style here, I love it. And also, it feels so cool to change modes mid air, it's an interesting system that makes me feel good :D

You have my positive rating!

I can open the game too, and the game poster just looks too good :(

Developer

I think I've figured this out, if you go into Source/Content/XML/Preferences.xml in the extracted folder the values for musicVolume and sfxVolume should both be set to 0.25 but it seems like the leading zeroes are dropping off for some people. If you just update this to 0.25 again (or might be best to use 0 or 1 to avoid it being changed again) it should work for you.

Very cute art! I enjoyed the unique modes. A think the platforming might benefit from some gravitational acceleration, as it seems a bit stiff as it is. All in all though, a very well put together submission!

Developer

There is gravitation acceleration in there, I set it low to allow more control. I do agree though that the movement still feels off, that's partially why I included the dev console in the options menu. Thanks for the feedback :)

I can't seem to get the game to open unfortunately. I don't even get an error message or a window briefly opening before crashing, nothing happens at all when I try to run the executable. Obviously others are able to run it okay so it must be an issue on my end, is there maybe something else I need to install first for it to work?

Developer(+1)

That's weird, we've had issues with it crashing on the first button press but not opening at all is a new one. There should be a log.txt file in the folder with an (unfortunately short) error message, if you let me know what that says I'll have a crack at figuring it out tomorrow.

Submitted(+1)

I'm afraid it's not even making the log file as far as I can tell, not seeing it anywhere in the folder

Developer(+1)

Hmm, it should be packaged with everything it needs to run, that's why there's so much stuff in there. I'll have a look about tomorrow to see if I can find any leads on what's happening.

Did not work unfortunately, they were already set appropriately for me and changing them to a whole number didn't effect anything. I appreciate you going through the trouble to look for a solution though! I did some searching around myself and it seems like it might be a Monogame issue, I was able to find a forum post of someone else having my exact problem: https://community.monogame.net/t/game-with-monogame-3-8-1-not-working/18490

They were the dev for the game they were having issues with and solved it by publishing the game in a different format, though. I tried reinstalling .net 6 based on what was said in that thread, but no luck there

Developer(+1)

I actually looked at that thread for a different issue before, it's what prompted me to put the try/catch in that writes to log.txt. If you're not getting that much I think it means something's going wrong before it even gets to the game code :(

Not sure how invested you are but I've open-sourced the codebase if you want to try building it locally - https://github.com/wayne-dillon/NewGame

Submitted(+1)

I'll try to find time to get that set up, or maybe find another computer I can borrow that hopefully won't have the same issue, before the voting period is over. Thanks for being so helpful with this bizarre issue!

Developer(+1)

No worries, it's great to see someone is keen enough to go to all this effort to play our game!

Submitted(+1)

I really liked how the mode is represented. The style and the audio are very cute. It took me a bit to understand the dash with the cat jump at the beginning, but then is fun!

I get to the intro-screen, but it crashes immediately when I click a button :(

Developer

I'm sorry to hear that :(

Was very cozy, I was able to almost do everything in frog mode, which is not a bad thing. I think the only thing that tripped me up was I couldn't tell if I was hitting the phones for a while. Might be better to have them pick ups so the player does not double back on themselves. I think the art of the game was amazing.

Developer(+1)

This really shows the value of thorough play testing, I thought the phone animation changing was enough and noone said otherwise before submission but I watched a streamer have the same issue earlier! Thanks for the feedback :)

Love the cat protagonist with the cute animal outfits. Cozy art, music, and gameplay with strong tie to the MODE theme.
