How does your game represent Mode?
If you collect enough bananas, you go MONKEY MODE!

I like that the puzzles use navigation in different ways, between the enemies and blocks and just the layout and switches between them to help keep the levels fresh.
"Monkey mode" announcement is now living rent free in my head. I think it'd feel really cool and satisfying if there were a lot of effects for whacking stuff in monkey mode.
Managed to beat it! Enjoyed the originality and a sense of power that comes from entering Monkey Mode.
Unfortunately, the later stages felt like they were going against that, requiring very precise movements and some lengthy enemy kiting, so that in the end you enter the monkey mode only for a few seconds before getting the big banana. While I appreciate the puzzle elements, completing the levels did not feel very cathartic compared to the first half of the game. The hitboxes of the monkey and bananas also felt weird, which combined with the strange, unnatural flow of level 20 made it more frustrating than it had to be. I did realize you have to go for the right banana first at some point, but still died a few times after. I'd suggest that the banana and/or player collection hitboxes are adjusted.
Lastly, I'd suggest emphasizing the monkey mode more, by having the player do more stuff in it before they beat the level, since most levels atm are simply "beeline to the exit" as the optimal move. I liked the level where the player races to the exit while collecting bananas on the way, extending the monkey mode. I also liked the level where monkey mode runs out before you reach the exit, so you need to clear up the obstacles and enemies first. I think the game could really use more levels like that to increase the fun factor, rather than levels with precise solutions.
Lastly lastly, it felt weird that the enemies were still rushing you in monkey mode, maybe make them run away instead? (suggestion)
Anyways, I had fun, hope my feedback will be of use. Congrats on finishing the jam!
I like all of the feed back. I want you to be more Monkey Mode. I like very precise like movement which is why I have some levels like that. Not so sure any of them should be required if there's a final version. (The final version would have a world map with levels to select and a lot of new gimmicks).
There're Gorillas, they see monkey they run at monkey. :) (Maybe could add a new Gorilla that runs away when you enter Monkey Mode).
The hitbox of the banana? Yeah, I could see how to make it better.
I like the sound effects - especially that announcer line lol
Surprising amount of levels, loved the how over the top it was when you went monkey mode
Really polished, I love the sound design. It's a little long, but overall super awesome title, with a perfect level of difficulty!
The monkey mode transformation is great, I really like the sound and art for it. The gameplay and short maps while simple are addictive. The transformation and how you can refill the timer by collecting bananas reminded me of super sonic in a good way lol. Good job!
Ape together strong. MONKEY MODE!! stronger.
This was fun and really cohesive. Lots of great level design on display. Great graphics and sound too. The experience of playing it reminded me a lot of pacman, and I did not expect that comparison until I was actually playing it, that's really neat.
Great visuals! Monkey mode is fun , can be faster so we feel stronger. Good job
Good work! I enjoyed going monkey mode the most, I loved the announcer when he said, monkey mode. Every time I was monkey mode was a good time. Great job!
Nice game guys 💛
Monkey mode transform was hilarious; so much character and charm. Loved the music, too. On top of that, solid puzzles.
Cute art! Had some interesting movement puzzles to figure out. I was a little disoriented by the jittering camera, but other than that, it was a lot of fun! Getting into monkey mode always felt very gratifying. Nice work!
Good game with some really nice pixel art!
Very fun! That "Monkey Mode!" Sound effect is gonna be stuck in my head forever lol, I love it!
got up to level 23 but then the sideways monkeys get on my nerves, really wanted to Monkey mode on them but coulden't. Great entry!
I like the part where the guy says "MONKEY MODE!". For such a simple game mechanic you were able to squeeze out a respectable amount of level design. Nice!
The game is very fun to play, although I must admit that I didn't quite finish it, because I couldn't figure out level 20...
I think this game nails what puzzle/action games are!
On the technical side I had some complains about the camera movement not being fluid and I think that you could increase the over the top nature of monkey mode a bit. For example instead of (what looks like) the default particles, there are rocks flying around (or the enemies flying away instead of disappearing) and maybe a bit of screen shake to bring home the strength of monkey mode!
All in all very fun (until the moment that it feels impossible) and the monkey mode music slaps!
That "Monkey Mode" line is so iconic. If you make anything monkey related again, you should use that. Hell, it'd make a good logo splash screen sound.
Those are gorillas I am pretty sure. 0/10 for accuracy, but 10/10 for gameplay.
