Incredibly impressive 3D movement and animations! Jumping and dashing feels really fluid. The first boss doesn't seem like the best showcase for the combat system, though, as it doesn't make much use of aerial juggling. I would also appreciate a bit more telegraphed attack patterns. But overall, this is extremely impressive for a jam game!

Artistically impressive game. Interesting anime/cyberpunk/sci-fi western vibes. It kinda reminded me of Signalis for some reason.  It also has PS1 aesthetics which looks pretty cool. Character animations feel kind of choppy, especially sword animations, particle effects could be better too. i think . Anime style dialogue portraits look sick btw.

Platforming sequence at the beginning was cancer :) To make matters worse you respawn from the beginning when you die at the first boss. I broke 1 star from fun mostly for this reason.

Devil May Cryish combat system is not bad but i think it lacks feedback a little. Gamefeel is not very strong. Also there are glitches in combat and the physics system. Especially in the second boss, you are suddenly launched in the air like 20 meters and sometimes player character cannot move after taking damage.

First boss looks like a downed AT-ST from Star Wars. I like it's design but it's attacks are kind of straightforward. It just fires 3 turrets and calls robot mob when you destroy one of it's weak points. Second boss looks very cool but i killed it by spamming the ground pound attack after dying once or twice. Seconds boss' attack are also straightforward, he could never hit me with his rifle attack.

You used the theme of the jam as plot device for the game's story which i think is a nice idea. I like your narrative style. The story piqued my interest.

It's a good game if not great but i like it for the overall vibe and what you really trying to achieve. The game ended with a cliffhanger ending btw so i understand that you intend to turn this into a full game. This could be a great game with some polish and by fixing the bugs. Keep up the good work friends! And good luck!

Thank you for the feedback! Really appreciate it!

I wasn’t able to get past the first boss unfortunately. Dying and returning to the start of the platforming section was pretty rough, it’d be great if you could respawn the player at the start of the boss instead.

The controls are also a little rough around the edges. I think adding some forward momentum to the basic attack would go a long way to making the attacks feel less stiff. As others have mentioned, the jump feels a little off too, I think due to the lack of air-control.

I love the art and music in this game. The art style is very PS1 and the character portrait (I only saw the player character’s portrait) during the cutscene was super polished. The first boss music was really good too. The environment art is also stellar, you should be proud!

I just want to say I didn't finish the game. I can't finish this game(I will say why later) so
let's begin from the start the double jump is a cool mechanic but it is missing the coyote jump(where even if you stand on the edge of a platform you still will be able to jump and then double jump) currently you will double jump once you jump off the edge of a platform and when I got to the 1st boss I died because I didn't have enough health another thing is that I was stuck there because I didn't realize there was a platform in front of me and I was trying to climb up the tree. second, in the second phase of the 1st boss the little robots are dealing so much damage at once HACK The whole damage system is flawed when you get hit the character can't move or attack (FOR RANDOM AMOUNT OF TIME) other than that the 1st boss was ok after my 3rd attempt(also found a bug. you can attack on in between his left foot and you can deal damage without activating any phases or activating turrets) thirdly the 2nd boss is completely random, can't skip the cutscene, immediately, after cutscene he attacks, deals damage meanwhile attacking, and more... I could rent about that boss for hours and that is the reason I didn't finish the game. I usually try to finish a game before judging but this one is just impossible unless there is something I missed I am not gonna finish the game ever.
I do wanna say that all of this is not to be mean it is a lot but it is important for you to know this. otherwise, it is a very good game.
10/10 (I don't know why it sent it multiple times ignore)

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback!

Cutscene should be skippable, not sure what you meant by that, but otherwise the second boss really punishing is you didn't use mush of a RMB attack that lifts him in the air and combo him there, also the airslump tech when you purposefully whiff two attacks in the air stailling yourself, so you could deal third attack on your way down and knock him down.

He is really challenging and for our shame gives not much of an audio visual cues of when to dodge his armoured kick and shotgun blast.

Sorry for inconvenience (

That double jump sucks... or maybe just the platforms suck.

It's a good mechanic but it's not well-made for some reason

Took me 1  1/2 life (I mean whole life) to get to 1st boss.

Die to boss restart before platform... Lose another life at the platform. I'm out.

The art, music, and ambiance are good, Boss also looks super cool!

Wanna try more about the boss but can't handle that platform anymore, sorry.

Edit* I Finish the game.
1st boss. He just standing there doing nothing with over 9000HP most of the time...
2nd boss. Player's hit box is felt too large. The attack seem didn't hit but the damage is there. but it's fun. Worth my struggle lol.

You have some good bases with this game. I am one who loves the early 3D graphics style, and while I think you nailed the aestetic, the texture a bit too stretch in my opinion. Otherwise, the controls are pretty good and I really like the bosses, but your game is quite hard.

Submitted(+2)

Great game! I noticed a slight issue with the double jumping mechanic, and the platform after the tree could benefit from a darker texture to stand out more against the environment. Other than that, fantastic job!

Submitted(+2)

The jump and overall controls feel stiff, but I think they fit the visual ps1 style. Loved the jugle mechanics, felt like classic devil may cry. Being able to jump con the bosses and destroy parts was a welcomed surprise. The second boss was sent to another dimension by an attack, and the fight was impossible to continue. I feel like with a bit more content with can be a commercial product. The visual style is unique and professional. Great job!

Thank you so much for the review!

The bad news is the controls felt really janky, boss did hit me even when I launched him in the air and cancelled his attack animation. I could only doublejump right after the initial jump, usually you can do that right until you land. First boss shooting was barely telegraphed yet instahitting.

The good news is you're using Unreal Engine so you're on the right path, man. It's difficult to learn but very rewarding in the end. Liked the overall visual style, though perhaps some lighting and shadows won't hurt too!

Really nice atmosphere and music! I also really liked the art of the MC portrait. The bosses are well designed, and the character controls feel good for the most part, except for the jumping in platforms issue. Overall a pretty nice game, good job!

Developer

Thanks for the review! The platforms are going to haunt me at night for sure)

Fantastic art style and lovely music.

I don't know but double jump seems to be a little bugged or it might just have been me being bad at the game.

Developer

Yeah we aware about double jump some times bugging out on platforms, i built very janky collisions on them, srry(
Thanks for the review!

in general, the game is good, but personally my big disappointment is caused by the too simple and small section with platforming. the action and controls are easy to understand, responsive and beautiful. bosses are conceptual and interesting, although they have uncritical disadvantages. it can be seen that the textures and music are made with soul. the game of 2024 year. 12/10.

Submitted(+2)

The game has some cool graphics, but it lacks feedback, consistent colliders, damage, level design, and more responsive attacks, it's frustrating to take a lot of damage from simple attacks and slip up on things.

Cool graphic with naruto wibe i guess. Well done

hi, I must say right away - I really liked the music at all stages of the game. As for the gameplay: as mentioned earlier, the problem with a double jump hinders parkour quite a lot, but outside of it it is not a problem. Also, at the beginning of the game (before parkour), the last story window with text disappeared too quickly, much faster than other windows with text, which, by the way, also disappear quite quickly, especially noticeable difficulties when trying to read one of the especially large text windows somewhere in the middle of the game xd. Fight the first boss: I tried not to use the bug described here in the comments with hiding behind the robot's leg and I can say that the complexity of the boss is adequate, he is not too weak and not too strong, the ability to disable the main gun was a pleasant discovery, but I would not have guessed about such a possibility if I had not accidentally attacked He looked at her and did not see how she swayed on impact :D But the second boss is too strong, I would call myself a pretty active gamer, but his shots will give me nightmares: they take away a fifth of HP, the window between animation and shot is too small, which makes it extremely difficult to react to them, I do not know if this was intended, but this boss turned out to be stronger than me, and I had to defeat him dishonestly. His whole difficulty lies in his punches, the rest of his attacks are quite weak. To sum up: did I like the game? - Definitely! Perhaps the visual component of the environment is nondescript, but you can see how much effort was put into the design of the bosses and the main character, as well as the presence of the plot was a pleasant surprise. I'm looking forward to the continuation of this story!

Going through the platforming, I fell 15 times. I was able to kill both bosses. I passed the demo version. The music is cool. An interesting plot. The fighting style is cool. textures - I don't like 64x64 textures, but the MC looks great.

Sadly I couldn't get past the platforming section. Am I missing something? Others seem to have fought the boss. I really like the character design! Lmk if there's some tips so I could go fight the boss, thanks!

Developer

Hi, yeah so with platforming we discovered a lillte janky collision on rocks, that causing slides. Just take it slow on them and don't rush jumping from a run, it sometimes causes a double-jump to not perform. Sorry for inconvenience)

Submitted (1 edit) (+1)

Thanks for the tip, yeah I did notice the slide, but I think I just fell short to the entry platform to what I think is the boss fight.
So what I did was R-click to uppercut, then jump forward, then 2nd jump, then dash. But I still can't reach. I will definitely try again, the boss designs in the screenshots looks really cool too! I don't wanna miss the fights hehe

Submitted(+1)

Yes! I finally beat the bosses! The platforming was easy, I'm a dumdum. I just didn't see the platform on the left, color probably blended in too much to the wall. Cool fight, I was immersed in the setting as well. Good job!

Developer

Glad you make it, sorry again if it wasn't really intuitive! Thanks so much for feedback!

Submitted(+2)

I love the low-res style and atmosphere of the game. Also really nice designs, characters and bosses. I think the fights need more dynamism though. It can get really repetitive. But overall awesome job!

Submitted(+2)

The first boss has a spot you can hide behind to keep attacking and it cant hit you! The second boss I knocked through the scenery and never saw him again and had to quit xD

I think the combat with the second boss needs to be tightened up a bit it seems completely random if he will be staggered or not when you hit him.

Overall I liked what I saw though the graphics style and music are really good and I would like to play more :)
