Probably one of the most stylish games of the jam. The particle effects, boss visual designs everything is so arthouse. Combat feels good and it's fun. It kinda reminds me of Nier: Automata. Bosses are extremely hard. I could only kill the first one. I managed to get to the 3rd phase of the second boss but couldn't evade that fucking laser beam. I checked all the other bosses didn't try hard to beat them. They're all very well designed with different phases, attack patterns, weaknesses etc.
Tutorial chapter is broken. Jumping doesn't work properly. So i just skipped to the bosses. Grappling mechanic works well but i think you only use them to swap weapons during boss fights, i might be wrong though. Music is also very well and fits the setting of the game.
Last words, the quality of art direction in the game is top quality in my opinion. You must be majored in fine arts i think. Extreme difficulty and some technical issues drop the overall score of the game a little bit but i think this game has masterpiece potential. Keep up the good work and best of luck!
This was really great - looks fantastic, and the bosses are quite challenging. He Who Has Become just floated away from me and I couldn't work out how to get close and exchange weapons with him, though.
Great look, I really like the low-framerate animation look for the robot and some of the vfx - it's pretty surprising how well it works with sci-fi mechs :D
Zipping around on the grappling hook felt really good and the dash was nice. Jormangund was my favorite because of the sound design on it -- those deep bass hits really gave it a feeling of scale and gravitas and dodging the huge laser beams was really fun. The sound design was quite good throughout, though I did feel like some of the music themes were a little too happy sounding for the boss fight setting and the breakcore loop did get a bit old. Overall a great job though, super impressive you were able to get this all done solo :)
The game has a very interesting and unusual visual, I really liked the way it looks and sounds, sounds and music on the level. But I did not like the controls, sometimes the jump and other keys were not pressed, but overall it was done very well!
The jump was a big problem for me, it was inconsistent. At first I thought that it was because I was running, or because I was not at the edge, but the jump just activated at random (at least it felt like that) The art design is really well done, and I even saw ambient storytelling elements like the destroyed robots around some rocks. I think that with just some minor adjustments this could be awesome. Good luck!
I LOVE BREAKCORE, amazing game with perfect gameplay and boss designs, the game is too difficult for me to beat any boss, I think adding some platforms will increase the movement potential, do you always to be on the ground or in the air, part of the movement of the platform will add a lot to the game. Swapping your weapon for the boss's weapon is interesting, but you take a lot of damage when trying to take his weapon a system that swaps more easily will be great.
You have a game with great potential here. The bosses were really fun and the grapple mechanic is great. But for some reason, I wasn't able to jump consistently which made me stop earlier than I wanted to. But other than that, it is a solid game.
Super good mechanics, Amazing artstyle ....Solid entry, Real good stuff dude!
Really fun and great art/music, but the jump key kept bugging out on me and so I had trouble doing a lot of the platforming-focused bosses. Also the game softlocked on me, I think because I got killed the same time that a boss died.
EVERYTHING 5/5!!! Perhaps the most polished and most fun games I've played during this jam! Well doneeee :D
nice game tbh, the visuals were very nice. the tutorial was excellent, unlike most games on a game jam........
Had a blast playing your game! The experience was really cool—loved the art, it's like a chef's kiss! Reminded me a bit of Redline. And the music? Top-notch. The bosses were all unique and choreographed really well. Your take on the theme was genuinely cool! I had a blast stealing weapons from the bosses and minions. The movement felt smooth, especially with that slingshot effect from the grapple hook. The tutorial was laid out nicely; it covered everything I needed to know. Overall, your game is seriously awesome. Great job!
Wow! I love animations so much here! Very fun!
Thanks!
Man, this game is so good. It looks incredible, the music is great, and the gameplay is so fun and fast, I feel like I’ll have to play it till I finally beat it. Sadly, some of the bosses do feel a little too hard to beat, so I think it’ll be a while before I finish it. If a version of this game with a couple of campaigns was up on any store, I would get it no doubt.
Thanks, that's such a good compliment to hear! Yeah, I had little time to balance the bosses so they kind of just get exponentially harder towards the end... (the chapter 2 part 1 boss is bugged and doesn't want to look at you so its difficult to kill before it goes far away). Hope you enjoy the rest!
Wow what a cool looking game! I had an issue where my jump wasn't registering 2/3rds of the time but still had a great time!
That's been bugging me for a long time and I can't figure out the problem, was it near the beginning of the tutorial?
yeah, it started during the tutorial but also happened during the boss fight. I had to skip out of the tutorial cause I couldn't do the platforming with the issue.
Fun mechanics and responsive controls! I appreciated the tutorial in the beginning because the fights were pretty challenging.
Thanks! I was worried if it would be enough to get you ready.
This games artstyle is sick as fuck :D The way you implemted the theme into this game is very smart and creative. I had a lot of fun playing this, but the bosses were a little bit too hard imo. But besides that, good job :)
Thanks! I'm happy with this art style so that means a lot :)
Yeah, it was hard to balance the bullet hell patterns. It was either too easy, or near impossible unless perfect lol. Originally had plans for difficulty levels, but ran out of time.
Very very cool entry ! Love the graphisms and the music!
Jump button is a bit janky, it's hard to use in repetition. Honestly it makes sense after getting the dash, but I feel like something doesn't quite work which makes the first part of the tutorial pretty frustrating
The dash and dahs + jump is very cool and feels very nice though
The grapple and exchange mechanic is very fun as well !
I liked the first boss, the second one felt a bit too chaotic (and for some reason there was 2 bosses at once ? Feld a bit uneccessary).
And the game looks very nice as well ! Very cool creature design and overall feel
Love it !
Thanks! Yeah, the jump button is weird, I'm suspecting it has to do with the buffer I implemented.
Hmm, the second stage should only have 1 boss... If it was chapter 2 part 1, then that is intended. Otherwise I'll need to look into that.
