Nice fun simple game! Well done, I was able to beat the bosses, loved the range on the shock, cool VFX. Congrats on submission. Feel free to try our game if you like!
I really liked the bosses' abilities. I did get a bug where after the second boss, the camera went to the room with the third boss and I had to blindly find my way to the boss room. I was not able to get in because the boss blocked me I think or maybe an invisible wall was there since the boss fight had started. I think it might have happened because I ended the second boss fight in the hallway maybe idk. Wasn't a big deal and I still had fun winning the game!
I like the concept with the atoms and electrons and all that, and the retro theme is very well done, especially the audio work. I think this is a great accomplishment especially considering how limited your time was to work on it!
Creative take on the theme, I enjoyed playing :D It is nice to be able to return to the previous boss when you die, although the transition from death to main menu happens instantly and I ended up clicking on start game a couple times instead, as I was just attacking before hand haha :D The first boss started off easy until there were a billion bullets on the screen, made me laugh. Good job with the game!
This is such an amazing idea, using quantum spin for the theme is not only creative, but extremely interesting. All I really understand about this game is that a quark has spin and the first boss was probably radioactive, but now I'm curious as to what everything else is. The bosses were well thought out, I assume each have real world counterparts, and it was really fun to fight them.
Overall, REALLY great game!
I really appreciate this. If I had more time, I would’ve done more, so I’ll tell you what my premise was:
You’re an electron on an orbital with another electron, which is the first boss. Electrons can only have one quantum spin number if there are two on the same shell, thus when you killed it, you gain that spin.
Each ascending boss is a specific quark, with the second being a proton, and the last a neutron, due to being the biggest sized part!
I wanted to make a final boss which is a nucleus of an atom that has spin as well, because they actually do have spin! However, I’m a college student and I don’t have any time at all, so I couldn’t! Maybe I’ll make a final boss eventually, maybe if I win one of the categories I’ll keep working on it and put it on steam! Who knows!
thanks for playing, I’ll be sure to check out your game when I have the time to do so!
First game to make me go "the person who made this is a freak (complimentary)"
Artistically interesting, while also being a curious game by itself. If dying didn't reset the game but send to a checkpoint before the boss, I'd probably want to play it to the end to see your world a bit more, but the world of gameplay is once more ruining the world of art.
Great job.
Nice variety of bosses, both visually and mechanically. The bullet hell on the first boss became a bit intense after I had lived for a while, since the missiles were moving slowly, I had almost no space on screen and just started tanking hits while desperately trying to finish off the boss. It was still a fun fight, though.
The characters look nice, the backgrounds cool, and the color palette was nice. There were SFX for everything I'd expect, which is nice. Finally, the music was quite good.
Cool game.
Good mechanic which kind of reminds me of organic chemisty class. Congrats.
A fairly simple mechanic but the concept is not bad. The audio section is a bit "heavy". The visual section is cool. Congrats!
I think the game looks great. I did get occasions where the sheer amount of bullets meant I couldn't find any way to avoid taking damage, which maybe felt unfair. But this was balanced by having a good amount of health. A really nice entry.
Honestly a fun game. The last 2 bosses could've used some more dodgeability not that you couldn't make it alive. The last boss was a little too easy as I just had to rotate around it. Second boss' slow field was despare inducing. Graphics were nice and so was the music.
I really like how smoothly the boss difficulty progresses—it’s very well executed. However, a small tutorial on the core mechanics would definitely help, even though I managed to figure things out over time. Overall, it’s a solid bullet hell with a cute visual style and enjoyable electronic music. Great work!
I really liked the bullet hell aspect of this game, I love that there are tons of bullets but somehow is balanced enough to not make it too hard to defeat the bosses, really solid! Maybe a tutorial at the start would have been good since at the beginning I was a bit lost, but it was a good experience! Cheers :D
Perhaps "spongy" is not the appropriate term. When I release all movement buttons the electron keeps going for a while. So I guess there is some form of momentum going on which creates the sensation of a "spongy" movement. It is a bit unexpected in a bullet hell type of game where exact positioning is crucial.
I am currently running Linux, I'll check it later on a Windows machine to see if that makes a difference.
Nice artwork, excellent boss design and very good take on the spin theme !
