Great game! Art and music are amazing. Gameplay is very solid. The only thing I'm not sure if I liked is increasing the attention level while you fly. I understand the concept, but if you came up with a complete game, you may be able to create more tasks to do(maybe more collectibles with different levels of attention?). Great game!

Developer

Thank you for the kind words. And for the feedback, we'll think about it (attention level surely need some balance or rework).

Very cool art and design!

Honest and constructive criticism:
The game loop of collecting items and then gaining more playable characters is a really good idea! However I felt the implementation was a bit stiff. The small view angle and walking around the map almost blindley wasn't very fun. After dying I didn't want to repeat that step of collecting items again for battle... it's a kind of frustrating and I would suggest to change up this mechanic(maybe allow the player to try the battle again with the progress they managed to achieve last time).

The game crashed once upon changing the location of my butterfly :(

Overall a great idea, great art you did by yourself! good job!

Developer

Thank you! I agree, save or battle restart is necessary, we'll add something like this in the future. And low fov appears to be a bad decision, we'll think about it (there were some cool ideas in the comments, and thanks to them we now have a plan how to solve it in an interesting way). Thank you for plaiyng and for the feedback!

First of all, I love the art in the game! Good job for doing it all yourself. I thought the mechanics in the game were really interesting, having a aggression bar, the battle mechanics, choosing to recruit or fight... I did get softlocked in a battle after I tried to switch positions, which was unfortunate but understandable since it's a game jam after all. I think after a bug sweep, it definitely has the potential to be fleshed out as a full game! I especially like the grid based combat, I'm a sucker for those kinds of strategy games. Great job overall, I hope you keep working on it!

Developer

Thank you! To be honest, we didn't expect it, but we received so kind response for the game, it's really inspiring. We'll surely continue to develop it, fix crashes, add content, improve UI. Thank you for the kind words, we're really happy you liked the game.

There's a lot of very cool ideas here. I like both phases on paper, but it did feel like there was a lot of baiting in the resource/ally gathering phase where if you didn't go for a specific ally you would have no chance in the battling phase. The battling phase was also very neat and just needed to be a little more fleshed out. It's impressive that you came up with so many units with unique moves, but there aren't many ways allies meaningfully interact with each other or anything that wasn't right across from them for that matter so it fell a little flat for me. There's something great here though!

The first wave is super easy and then the next wave is super hard. Feels like it's lacking an in between section. I also ran into some memory bug that broke the game. That said, this was still a cool idea I enjoyed while it lasted. The aesthetics are very nice and the idea is great.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! The balance surely need some rework.. We'll try to fix it in the future, add more levels and enemies and slow down difficulty increasing. I'm happy you enjoyed plaing the game)

Interesting game. At first, it's not obvious what the goal is. It'll be helpful to have some helpful tips in-game (e.g. hover over attacks to see what they do)

I crashed midway the boss battle (Memory out of bounds) so I am not sure what happens. I think I was losing anyway :P

Nature ambience sounds can enhance the experience when foraging, too :D

All the best!

Developer

Thank you! We'll improve UI to add more details after the jam. And we'll fix the crash of course.. Ambient sounds - it'd be a nice improvement, thanks for the idea!

wow the art is really cool and I love it

Developer

Thank you!

The gameplay is fun and unique, and I love the colorful art style! I wish I could play more of it, but it crashed mid-battle :(

Developer

Thank you! Sorry for spoiled experience because of crash, we'll fix it after the jam.

Submitted

Cool and unique artstyle, the strategy is interesting.

Maybe I was just didn't notice, but when doing a battle and choosing initial positions, you can't tell the abilities/attacks of new bugs you unlock, thus I inadvertently place my new blue bug guy in a position where he could not attack.

Developer

Thank you! After the jam we plan to make many UI improvements (show skills and statuses details, hp count, and so on).

Good strategy game.

I got some bug when my team dead(butterfly is dead when i choose bee) and game is freezing.

Developer

Thanks for playing!

Submitted

I chose the bee and I liked the art. It felt like a colorful storybook style. I did unfortunately get this error during a battle. I had done a successful battle before. I had fun playing the game

Uncaught RuntimeError: memory access out of bounds

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing!

The art style is interesting and unique. I think the game could have benefited with a better tutorial. But once I got the hang of it, it was quite fun!

Developer

Thank you!

"Very good concept and visual aspect! but, I encountered a bug (lol). When using the special attack of the green bug, an error appears (RunTimeError: index out of bounds) and blocks the game. This might be because the attack has a large area of effect, and I placed it on the edge of the map, causing the system to try to access a non-existent tile. Overall, very cool game, well done!"

Submitted

nvm I try to reproduce the bug but every thing was working perfectly idk why the game crash on my first attempt.

Developer

Thank you! There is a crash on death of a bug, many peoplle encoutered it, probably it was the same one.

Very nice game, I liked the art and battle system, even though it was a bit confusing as there was no description of what any of the debuffs/ buttons did

Developer

Thank you!

Oooo this was a pleasant surprise to see, very nice game altho I was a bit confused by the battle system at first.
Descriptions and a bit more info would help a lot, still tho the end result is good with you having to plan your path and resource management skills. The general concept is also fun as I like bugs and having them in a tactical battle system scratches a strange itch Ive always kind of wanted.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! We plan to make UI improvements to make things more clear. I'm happy you enjoyed playing the game!

I like this game visually despite I’m a person who doesn't like bugs.

I tried the browser version and I got stuck in a corner of the second level at the start when I tried to recollect the blue flower/object and in the desktop version I got an error (Assertion failed: Pair != nullptr) after the beatle defeated my 2 bees in 1 attack and it closed the game haha

I like the concept that each action increases the attention of the boss so you have to be a bit efficient with the gathering of materials to recruit more insects. Also I like that you can pick an initial insect at the start and how much change the calm part

About the recollection, it feels calm and nice despite you being under a “timer”, maybe for this part, I would like an option to zoom out a little bit to see where materials to collect are located and more or less plan what path to take

In the fight phase, the combat is good, but I would like to know what some debuffs do. The green drop it’s understandable just from the image but the moth ability I didn’t understand

Also, in my 1st run I endured enough the attack of the beatle and I only have the butterfly left but I didn’t do any damage or the beatle didn’t attack back so the fight got stale and had to reset

But the game looks good and it has a good atmosphere with the help of the soundtrack and sfx. A bit more of polish on those little details could make this game more fun ^^

(And while playing a string of spider web appeared randomly in front of me, the game attracted a spider hahaha)

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thank you so much for detailed feedback! And for the suggestions, we'll surely make many changes in these directions. I'm happy you enjoyed it! And that the random spider liked it too :D

Had a tough time at first but overall great game. Loved the art and sound. Great work! Congrats and good luck!

Really cool game! I like the different game phases and how both need strategic thinking, but in different ways. The Graphics definetly are a highlight, I really like the hand drawn bugs. Great game :)

Developer

Thank you so much!

the concept, art, and gameplay is really great! but there were a couple of um bugs (i got kicked out on the web version...)

great job! i really enjoyed this, it's not your fault that i crashed a couple of times lol. i replayed a couple of times and i learned a lot. i really did have to think about every step in the calm phase

Developer

Thank you!

The art is absolutely beautiful great job! The exploratory phase is very well executed and it feels great to tactically explore the map and prepare your party for battle. It feels like a very fresh take on turn based rpgs, which is a very established genre so kudos there. The combat system seems like it has good depth to it but unfortunately  I couldn't get a grasp on it at all. Tool tips or some other resource to indicate what each move does would be a big improvement. Also the art of the battle sequence wasnt up to the same high quality of the exploratory phase which was a bit jarring. Overall, this was a great application of the theme and an inspired taken on an established genre with some really beautiful art, awesome entry!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for the kind words. For now the battle part surely lacks effects, animations and explanation.. we'll try to improve it in the future.
