How does your game fit the theme?
"Kalm before the Storm" is an intense endless runner where you play as Kalm, a lone adventurer battling the growing wrath of an unstoppable storm. The air is still, but the storm is closing in, bringing chaos and destruction. Your task is to keep moving, switching between lanes to dodge obstacles and navigate treacherous terrain.

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
Most of it with the help of chatgpt and some youtube tutorials!

I enjoyed the mechanic, though I couldn't tell if there was an end once you got to a certain point. The meter was at 100% and I just kept going, got my score up to 5007 or so before I stopped. Either way, great work! Congrats and good luck!

Thanks! Because time ran out I didn't get to a cool ending! I'm glad you played and enjoyed it!

Really interesting mechanic with any movement using up hearts and then regaining them after a while. I liked the collectible hearts and the whole strategy behind this simple yet fun game, really nice job on this!

Thanks for playing my game and for the feedback!

Using up hearts for movement is a very interesting idea! I think the storm phase could become a bit more challenging though, for example by gradually increasing the game speed.

Thanks for the feedback and for playing my game! Appreciate it!

I made it pretty far I feel like I had like 6 hearts but I wanted to see how long it took to die if I was in the middle of the screen haha I think I got over 3k points.

I really think the mechanic of the hearts being used up for movement was a cool idea. It took something very simple and added some depth and strategy on top of it. so you felt more cautious about when you move and how much to move so you don’t use too much.

good job putting this all together in a week

Thanks for the feedback! I didn't have the time to implement something challenging in the end because the time was up. So I ended up trying to fix as many bugs as possible :D

Developer

I quite enjoyed the stamina mechanic, which added a unique twist to the game :D I think if the obstacles came at you faster over time it would make it more entertaining and replayable as well. But good job, I liked this one!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback and I would love to have implemented some more difficult challenge at the end but in the end the time was not enough :) ! Appreciate you!

Nice heart mechanic. Makes it much more difficult. Calming music and great art. Nice entry!

Developer

Thanks a lot! Means a lot!

It's a pretty inventive game mechanic to have X number of moves that slowly regain over time and that you permanently lose max number of moves if you hit an obstacle. It fits the theme, but I feel like the "storm" part of the game could be even more extreme.

Great job at your first gamejam entry! :)

Thanks so much for the reply and taking the time for feedback! I'm so happy that people are liking the mechanic that came to my head while making the game! :D

Hi I have played and rated, if you can rate mine. Thanks. I liked the the thunder and particles you did, using the health as movement is a neat idea!

Nice atmosphere! There's a sense of impending doom. I like how, instead of hopping between lanes like you usually do in these types of runners, in this one you had to hop as little as possible. It was also satisfying to catch a heart and upgrade my hopping power.

The first 2 times I immediately got 5 obstacles in a column, impossible to pass, but on third try I got a normal run.

Congrats on your first finished game!

Thanks for trying my game and leaving a comment!

I tried to go dark, green, bluish theme to get a feeling of running in the storm!  :D

Interesting runner as your first game this is really promising! You  had a unique idea and the particles where very good. Sounds and music where also very calming.

Art still could use some work but it really has nice potential to be your first game project finished! Well done

Really nice atmosphere, I don't know if it was by design or just my unlucky self, but the first set of obstacles had no gap for me to pass through ahah. I can see so much potential in this game. Congrats!

Developer

Thanks for playing my game. Let's just say it's a feature xD I really tried a lot to fix that but I didn't have the time and knowledge.

I'm glad I learned so much from making this game :) Thanks for the kind words!
