The player experience describes "the calm" before "the storm" which in our game's context, a sale that will soon flood the store with shoppers and you are trying to complete your shopping before that happens.

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes, with the exception of sound effects and one type of particles.

very fun, loved ramming the other shoppers' carts to get them out of my way XD

Developer

Haha glad you enjoyed playing!

haha this game is great! very polished and plays well, I was also overwhelmed at the start but got it down eventually. It's kinda hard to hunt down items when theyre so small and similar but I guess that's part of the challenge :) Maybe the green shelves could be changed to contrast more, like the gray bins which were very clear

Developer

Thank you for trying our game and the great feedback! Similar items was a problem I noticed as well, but unfortunately we just ran out of time to work on adjusting the sprites

What a nice polished game haha, first time I just clicked everything which resulted in a -score haha. Than I accidentally just went out without buying anything got 700 xD

Loved the art a lot, I'm fan of pixel art. And the music made it like really a speed run game haha. Well done!

Thank you for trying! I am glad you had a good time :D

Wow, what an amazing game! It feels so polished and the theme is really well implemented. My only complain would be that in the first 10 seconds I was very overwhelmed but after the that it was really intuitiv and fun to play!

Developer

Hey thanks for playing and feedback! I’m glad you enjoyed it :D

Fun and fast game. At first, I thought I can stampede other shoppers hahaha

Developer

Haha thank you! Honestly that was one idea that we had xD

Cool game about buying stuff like you are rich.

Developer

Haha thanks for trying the game!

The art and graphics look well-polished and the stretching of the sprite when turning is a good addition. Adds a lot to the game and is pleasant to look at. I get negative scores btw, I'm bad at shopping. I buy unneeded items too much T_T. The ranking system in the side is pretty good. Made me feel like I was doing a great job even when I ended up with negative scores.

I'm not sure how this fits the theme, but it's fun and playable. Good job.

Developer

Haha thanks for trying our game! The storm is supposed to be the incoming customers that will flood the store because of a sale, and you are trying to complete your shopping list before that happens :)

That setting hits home way to hard (in a fun way) :D I like the artstyle and the setting is just hilarious.

The game and score screen feel quite nicely juiced!

One of the best gamejam games I've ever played, it hooked me in immediately, I was about 10 mins to get the whole achievements right :D. It would be cool to see another levels and play them. No words to say, Nice work and Good Luck!

Developer

Thank you so much for the kind words! I am glad you enjoyed it :)

I love the frantic pace of the game ! Shopping has never been so epic !

There are a lot of good idea, like the fact that you can just run across hallways, just keeping the mouse pressed to collect everything, with the sound design making it really juicy. The bingo card is also a great idea for the scoring !

However I think it lacked a bit of strategy, as the items on the shelves seemed to be put without logic, and it felt like the optimal strategy was to just brainlessly collect everything and pray for a good score. With some more level design and a bingo card that pairs well with the placement of objects, I think it could add some strategy without removing the funny frantic pace that makes the identity of the game.

I enjoyed that game quite a lot, I'd be curious to see what could be made with the concept. Well done !

Thank you so much for playing our game! I’m glad you enjoyed it :) I agree with a lot of your feedback, the lack of strategy was something that I had noticed, and it definately has a lot of room to improve! Again thanks for playing and for the valuable feedback!!

I always get negative somehow

Developer

Hey thanks for trying our game! The negative score comes from buying unnecessary items and bumping into other customers

Submitted

I know but I just spam the mouse button over everything

ULTRAKILL combos? Yes please! This is quite fun. More fun was grabbing everything I could despite not needing it and getting thousands of negative points.

Developer(+1)

Haha thanks for playing! Glad you had fun :)

That’s exactly how I shop. Not sure where the calm and storm parts are, offscreen? but other than that feels great to play. Love the villager sound.

Developer

Thank you for playing Simeon! Our interpretation of the theme was that “the calm” was relative to “the storm”, which in our context refers to absolute chaos in the store with it flooding with customers. The calm period is the playing period where the customers are still only slowing coming in, you are trying to complete your shopping list before everyone comes!

Again thanks for playing, I’m glad it feels good to play :)

Feels crazy, I can't stop adding random stuff to the caddy. Game design is clear, controls are smooth and the art is lovely.  I'll play it some more times later, noticed pending combos to taste :D

Really good job dudes!

Lol thanks for playing! I’m glad you had fun :)

Great UI, animations and really fun gameplay!!

It's really polished, and the Minecraft villager hit sound is a perfect choice. I just think it does not fit the theme quite well, but great fun. Keep it up!

Developer

Haha yea we thought it would be funny to have the villager sound, thank you for playing!!

I see 0 calm in this but it doesn't matter because... GET OUT OF MY WAY I STILL NEED 2 CHICKENS AND SOME TOMATOES ! No but for real the game is really fun, and i really had a blast playing it IF IT WASN'T FOR THOSE PESKY CUSTOMERS WHO REFUSE TO LET ME GET TO THE VEGETABLES AISLE ! MOVE PEASANTS !
In all seriousness, great job !

Developer

Haha yes! Thank you for playing and I am glad you had fun :)

at first I thought I needed to meticulously check every item before putting it in my basket. But you can actually just hold down left click held down and grab ALL THE THINGS!! Really fun :D I also really enjoyed the combo and point system, really juicy <3

It's really fun! Personally, I put all the products that I saw, and I didn't care about the -10000 bill. But I didn't see the topic, what is it?

Developer

A sale that will soon flood the store with shoppers is the topic. Ty for playing
