How does you game fit the theme?
This was my very first game jam and I'm quite proud with how much I learned making Pimenton. The theme was inspired by the film Paprika (which had a lot of dream scenes and surreal scenes of the world falling apart that created a lot of uncertainty of what was real) and so I tried to capture that feeling a bit through a game where the levels end up being fake and falling apart. Hope you enjoy!

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
I watched a lot of unity tutorials and followed a lot of them for how to write code, but everything was made from scratch. I also used FEEL by More Mountains, which I own from the Unity store. The art and audio are all made from scratch.

That was cool. Very polished.

And I appreciate the gorillaz reference.

Developer

YESSSS!  Glad you caught it.

Very cool game. This was an experience always unsuspected and always exciting. Movement is solid and visuals are great. I really like that the world is falling when you complete the level. Question: was all of this done in one scene?

Overall big cool.

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you very much! So a goal I had for this game jam was to learn additive loading in unity. So the answer is no - there were technically 7 separate scenes (excluding the credits), but I wanted to give the illusion that there was never any transition.

So. You break the level, load the new scene in additive mode and let the player fall down in it. Cool. Will definitely look in to that. Thank you.

Developer

Yea, the scene would break, then they would hit a trigger that loads the next scene. After a delay, the previous scene unloads. This way the player could see the previous scene fall even when they got to the new area. It was a fun experiment - I think there's still a lot for me to learn, but it was great being able to transition between scenes without a load screen.

Great game! Felt a bit like being in a test chamber of Portal. It was very polished and fit the theme perfectly. Nicely done!

I really loved it. It was a nice game beginning to ending without any issues. UI(I meant by dialogue boxes) and colors were so vivid and nice. Good work!

Nice movement, really smooth! I would've been nice if some music was added, other than that, the game felt really nice! Good job!

This was fun :D It took me a while to understand the wall jump mechanics but after some practicing I mastered it!

Dude! The sound effects! What a thrill ride. The wall bouncing was a little tricky to get down but other than that great game

Really nice! Really well executed. The level transitions were top notch and added to the story of the game so well. Love the audio work and ending was great!
