How does your game fit the theme?
Our game fits the theme because we have a time loop mechanic where every end is a new beginning of the loop: Every new loop you start again with more knowledge.

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
All the code is from scratch. We used only a couple modified shaders and textures we found as per commercial asset packs. All else is CC0.

I love this, I love this, I love this!!! This is game is like if outer wilds and half-life had a child which inherited the best both.

I love the halflife-esque world building, all the scientists with their funny stories, the branding, the posters. It all adds up to this believable, yet goofy world which is suited perfectly for the timeloop component. Just like outer wilds, I really liked exploring the place and finding out how to get keys to ultimately solving the puzzle.

I played the web build, so I ran into the trouble of occasionally dialogue not showing up. But I did not experience any other issues. I think some of the puzzles could use a few more hints, as I would've never guessed the burger puzzle to be fair (maybe a reference to the employee name having the card that just went out to get lunch).

Developer

Thanks so much! We’ve always been a fan of Valve’s dry humor and we wanted to incorporate that into an inspired game. It was a ton of fun to sprinkle all of the references and jokes as we built up the scene.

Great game, certainly would love to see an expanded version. I got through the code side of the game on my own but getting the guy a burger stumped me, the bartender talks about manager taking my key card so I kept looking around there and didn't even think of giving the burger to the dude. Nevertheless, I had a lot of fun with this one. Great work! Keep it up!

Developer(+1)

Yeah it gets a little confusing around the burger/points card/keycard bit. I think its something we could definitely improve upon and make clearer. Thanks for playing!

I'm surprised more people haven't used this groundhog day premise where each loop, you get more information. Kudos for that creative use of the theme!

The dialogue was pretty entertaining and learning these new bits of information was always satisfying.

I also loved that it was a fully open 3D space! You don't see that too often in jams! Or, at least I don't...

If I had one thing to say, it would be that the fact that the game simply closes when you press the button felt a little anticlimactic. It'd be interesting to have seen how the scientist would react to you having averted the catastrophe nobody else knew about.

Overall, solid time! Though I must shamefully confess to using a walkthrough to find the keycard. 😔

Developer

Thanks a ton! And yeah, definitely, we wanted to have an ending cutscene to round out the game, but unfortunately we had to put that on the burner because we were already tight on schedule finishing the game. However, it is something we plan on revising post-jam. Thanks for the feedback!

Developer

Also, fun fact.. We completely forgot (I mean we left it on purpose...) to change the direction of transform animation for the ending button. We moved it from the back wall to the side wall with the windows.

The thing I loved the most about the idea for the time loop was that it meant we could easily scale the game design depending on the amount of time we had in total.

Anyways thanks for playing! No shame in using the walkthrough. I admit that I myself had to use the walkthrough for part of the keycard quest.

Smart use of the theme, I loved the jokes sprinkled throughout.

This game was really polished for a game jam, I'm glad I beat it without looking at the walkthrough.

Developer

I love that you felt it an accomplishment to beat the game without looking at the walkthrough. Thanks for playing!

fun game! I liked the half-life references

Submitted(+1)

Great thing you made here mate :D I will now I have a look at the walk trough as I did not figure out how to bring a drink to the guy on the beach!!! :D Well done also fits the theme really well!

Submitted(+1)

So fun!! This was like the perfect game for game jam, it wasn't too hard to figure everything out but definitely still challenging. Great job!

Developer

Thanks for the positive feedback! Glad you enjoyed it and were able to make it through!

Submitted(+1)

You all got a lot done in this time, impressive! Was fun just wondering around and exploring and talking to all the people. Love how I walked into the beach! Thanks for posting the walkthrough it helped. Great game!

Developer

Yeah we debated posting a walkthrough, but are ultimately glad we did. There were some features that we wanted to tidy up and hone in on that would have given the player more direction in game. (but you know, game jam timeline.. and the beach..)

Thanks for playing and glad you had a good time exploring!

Interesting game... I love how you implemented the loop to the story... Good job, enjoyed it!

Developer

Really glad you enjoyed it! We thought the story loop was a good idea; glad it turned out well

Idk if it's because I was playing in the browser but non of the text was showing up so I couldn't understand what the people were saying. Nevertheless, I loved the atmosphere you created and the attention to detail is amazing, So much work seems to have gone into this and it's incredible looking for only a week-long Jam. This is by far the best-looking game I've seen so far and I enjoyed roaming around even if I was clueless about what I'm supposed to be doing this whole time. You did an amazing job and I give this game a perfect score.

Developer

Hey - sorry about that bug! The Web version does indeed have that bug, specifically when you switch to a different resolution (fullscreen/embedded size). The download version does not have the same bug.

Thanks for the giving the game a shot! We're glad you enjoyed it! We definitely had a great time making it!

Massive work behind it with solid gameplay, keep it up, and good job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much for playing it! We put a lot of effort into it and are proud of the results.

Very cool one. Realy enjoyed figuring out how to solve this.

Was wondering if i missed any hidden easter egg? The dude talking about his spider seemed odd, was there more to it?

Developer

Lol - glad you enjoyed. Most of the easter eggs could have been expanded on, but unfortunately (to my knowledge at least) there is no tarantula wandering around. Maybe he should have been in the vents or something. I advocated for rats in the vents, but it didn't make the final cut.

Anyways thanks for playing!

It is a really really good game! :)

Thanks! We had a great time making it!

Easily the best game I've played / rated so far for this jam! As a huge Outer Wilds aficionado, this game was just a blast to go through! Love the sense of humor, the polish in the details, the gameplay mechanics, the graphics / animations. Perfect score!

Developer

I’m glad you liked it. It was a bit scary using Outer Wilds as an inspiration because the game is so acclaimed and well-put-together. It’s just hard to make something like that for a Game Jam. That said, I’m glad we made something that fans of Outer Wilds can enjoy. Seems like a sign that we did something right. Thank you so much for the positive feedback.

Just......wow. This game screams POLISHED. You've not only taken the time to create an interesting and engaging title, but you've managed to incorporate your amazing sense of humor in a few different ways. Every little detail felt meaningful to the composition of the game, and there was something new to be discovered everywhere I looked. I especially loved the UIAFGF poster meme that I found in a few places, and the menus at the the borger and tacko shops. I had a huge smile on my face as I came across all those little easter eggs everywhere. Stellar job!

My one tiny critique is that I would have loved to hear some music playing while I walked around the facility. Maybe like the most generic elevator-style music playing from a few speakers throughout the place would fit the bill? This wasn't at all crucial to making this a 5-star submission for Brackeys though.

You did an incredible job, and hope to see more of your works in the future!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much. It’s incredible to hear that people are enjoying it so far. I’m glad you enjoyed our sense of humor because we really just can’t help ourselves when we think of some easter egg that needs to go in.

And totally agree about having music would have been awesome. We actually had 2 musicians on the team, but the team just had so much work to do that neither of them got the chance to write any music.

Again, thank you so much and I’m glad you enjoyed it.

I absolutely understand the struggle of time! You all managed it in a way that you created a very Steam-worthy title in that time period, which is super impressive. (It was giving high-key Stanley Parable vibes 😂).  I can’t wait to play more of your guys’ games!!!

Best narrative game I've played so far in this jam.

Everything is there:

the atmosphere (amplified by the evolving sound, the dialogues and its progress in the scenario/company)

the learning (you gather information and you want to know more. Moreover, I was often surprised)

The level design : you are extremely well guided but not too much to give a certain freedom.

the details : omg, did you sleep during this jam? huge work.

Very good narrative direction, the game works and very great game for a jam with so little time.

congratulations. it's a 5.

Developer(+1)

Hey thanks for taking the time to come over to our game and play! We definitely spent a lot of time with this game and had a good time making it! There are quite a few things we wanted to add to it, but you know.. timed game jams lol. TBH the game idea is a little wild, but that's the fun of it!

Thanks again!

Submitted(+1)

Very cool idea.
It was very fun to play and solve the riddles.
I would have liked to play it in full screen, but when the screen resolution is changed, no text is displayed.
Otherwise a well made game.

Developer

Hey there! Thanks so much for reviewing our game! We had a blast making it.

Thanks for pointing out that bug! Yeah, unfortunately the web version has some issues with rendering some UI elements. You can still play it on full screen if you use the downloadable build version.

Submitted(+1)

i dont think the game fits the theme but i can rate that so good because i dont get what to do in this game i just ran across the map and talked to people and dindnt knew what to do but otherwise the game has good graphics and is a bit funny

Developer

Thanks for playing our game! We processed the theme as a Time Loop, where each time you go through a loop you learn more knowledge of the world, like Outer Wilds. As such, you know more in the beginning because you had to experience the end. And yes, we wanted to create a funny world for people to explore in as well. Glad you enjoyed it!
