How does your game fit the theme?
The theme of the Game Jam was “An end is a new Beginning”. In our approach we brainstormed around the idea of the theme, while eliminating from the beginning the obvious rebirth concepts with different abilities and/or controls. In the matter of video gaming “An end is a new Beginning” theme, represents mainly Dungeon Crawlers types of games as well as the iconic Baba is You (if the theme is read appropriately). In our approach, we concluded upon the full-stops which define an end in a sentence and the beginning of a new one. As the game evolved during this one-week development journey, we included as mechanics for all three options for punctuating the end of a sentence; a period “.”, an exclamation mark “!” and a question mark “?” . Each punctuation mark devoured by our protagonist, the centipede, acts as a new body - a new life or a dangerous obstacle. Reading the monologue the player has to decide upon eating the punctuations. The UI implements the idea of the theme as continuous Experience, with smooth transitions between the Main Menu, the Game and back.
Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
All the code has been written from us.
Most of the assets have been created from us, the one not created from us, are mentioned within the game in the Credits Section.

This was a challenging but great expirience. This game has a great difficulty balance as it gives you enough space in between lines to move arround and sometimes a free right side but also having to read the text while trying to eat the full-stops, survive the edges of some letters and tight spaces while going down. It has some small bugs but they don't ruin the fun of game. Thank you for the awesome story and fun time.
Very cool game! I love the art direction and the sound design was also very good. I'm quite bad at the game, but its an extremely interesting concept! A full game in this style would be very cool. I've never seen anything like it before.
Amazing style and animations - great effort! Even the settings/credits have mood/feeling. I wasn't sure how to play until I went back and read the text, so some explanation would have helped.
Really something different. very well done.
I think the implementation of the theme is really the best of the games I've seen so far.
To catch the points was just a little difficult XD
Thanks for the nice words, it was intentional to be dificult as we wanted the game to be an "impossible" game. A lot of people though from the community think it's too difficult so we might add some helpful mechanics to help in progress. Also, there are secret mechanics that have been implemented that let you finish the game without toooo much effort ; )
What a very, very original take on the theme! I really love the concept, and I am pleased to see that some teams found something different to do than the obvious game mechanics the theme hinted towards ^^! I also enjoyed that you shared your whole thought process, it is inspiring ^^.
Now, about your game! The graphics are really good. The little cutscenes between the scenes really sets the mood, the music and sound design are on point, the controls are nice, and that is probably the most original way to explain the controls I've see in my whole gaming journey.
My only real complain is that the pace of the game is a bit too slow. I retried 3 or 4 times, but after dying to a somewhat far sentence, I really didn't feel like going back there: the laziness of doing it all over again overcame the curiosity of knowing what is after ^^'. I would have liked either some checkpoints, or a way to control the speed of the page. I might come back to it on a couple of hours, because I really want to know what comes after though ^^.
So yeah, overall that is a great game I enjoyed playing. It perfectly fits the theme and is really original, so a great entry for the jam. Congratulations =)!
Oh, and give Birbilitsa a cuddle from me =p!
Thank you for your kind and warm comment! It is very encouraging to get that kind of feedback!!
Respecting the community that spent time playing our game and wanting to continue the development we take into consideration your feedback regarding the checkpoints and will brainstorm around it, in order to find a cool mechanic to make it work and let the players enjoy the story as well. Thank you for mentioning it to discuss with the team. We are super excited to create a unique experience that people do love to play and care to leave constructive feedback!
If you may come back to play it during the game jam, I could also give you a small hint; there might be an alternative way to progress...! (heh) What could maybe trigger the story to advance? (the answer is within the theme...) If you find it, let us know in a discreet way to not spoil it for others!
Thank you again, your comment charges us with energy to continue the game to Chapter 2! Birbilitsa will be cuddled tomorrow in the office :))
hey, seeing that you are interested in teams, here are some tips, a. try to find people who are passionate for what they have to do, mainly when there is a deadline, b. look within your close circle of people; friends, work, school environment (I'm a boomer hah), c. let everyone respect and trust everyone's opinions and give time in discussing ideas, implementations and designs! d. working from the same environment helps to speed the production and creates a great and magic atmosphere! I hope these help, I could share more if you are interested. I'm closing with a relevant quote from a professor "if you want to go fast go alone, if you want to go far go with a team". cheers!
The basic mechanincs (movement and return to main menu) are included in the text, while also the goal of eating dots. We did not provide hints on other mechanics as we wanted the player to find out! There are no more buttons, just extra mechanics on the punctuation marks...or is there a secret that noone have found yet?
This is a calm and relaxing game, still I felt some kind of urgency in order to not die and to read more of the text, this is a unique game, one of its kind, great job in avoiding the obvious ideas!
The art and atmosphere of this entry are really outta this world. Nice work creating an immersive and spooky experience in only a week!
Amazing concept for the theme, also really fun gameplay too!
wow amazing game, you definitely achieved the smooth transition from menu to game. the game was very challenging and i couldn't get very far. i like your take on the theme, i myself couldn't think of anything but roguelike ideas which many others also included so its nice to see the theme explored in another way. Good job guys.
Thanks a lot dude, we put a very big effort into brainstorming. One good thing to have a large team is that many ideas can come on the table and the mixing of these can achieve great and unique things. Try to play the game reading the text or by using some of the secret mechanics if you really wanna progress further. Peace!
Its very hard to explain this game. its very bizzare. in a good way. this game is very interesting and i wish there could be more! as im writing this. it feels like the page is slowly going up and im scared. anyway. nice spin on the theme! good job!
Thanks for the input. Yea but you need to try to consume the dots (and not only maybe) in order to get points and grow. so most of the times you need to go through the words and risk your life haha. also at some point there are words at the end so you cant always follow the hover near the end of the page patern
Great and very unique concept, and oh boy that's a big team with a lot of skills at hand !
The only thing I'm sad about is that I didn't have time to focus on the player AND read the text at the same time. I know it's asking for a lot, but a narrator reading the text would have been great, at least posting the whole text in itch. I really feel like I missed out on the narrative.
hey super thanks! a narrator reading the text would be awesome, but if not set with the correct voice would ruin the experience. so we went without narration (or is there narration somewhere?... )
here's a quick tip on reading while playing, just smash the right-left or up-down, till you read the part you want in order to continue! yet there is another way, but we don't want to spoil the fun of finding out. :)
Amazing and weird game! VERY hard, at least for me, but the originality and creepiness made up for it. The art style altogether was very well executed, I loved it!!!
Sadly I couldn't get THAT far, the full reset when hit was a little overkill.
Great work!!!!
