Great entry. Something unique and unexpected. Beautiful world and mechanics. I, at first, thought I was only meant to change the landscape but then I found there's more to discover and powers to unlock

I loved it

really well done

Wow, I loved playing this. I can definitely tell that there was some Journey/Sky: Children of light inspiration there. You guys really knocked it out of the park. Amazing job for two weeks! - Mato

Developer(+1)

Thank You!

Funnily enough i only thought about the journey comparison at the very end of the jam lol. But it does have quite a few similarities.

Haha, Journey is one of my favourites! Very excited to see what you'll make next! -Mato

Great Job 4th 5/5!

Gorgeous. 5/5

Very nice game, gives vibes of flow and similar. Music and sounds suite very well.

I think it would be nice if closest paths could combine with each other and if trees and bushes would recolour as whole object, not partly. Do you write data of user paths to some kind of Custom Render Texture and then pass it to shaders of grass and trees?

Developer(+1)

Im glad you enjoyed the game!

Yup, thats exactly how its done.

Simple yet good looking fun

Enjoyable atmosphere and satisfying to play with only some minor technical issues.  Tried to complete everything because of just how satisfying it was.  Love the visual style and the application of the theme.  Honestly did not expect it to be as large as it was, for something made by 2 people in 2 weeks, well done!

This is the first 5 star rating across the board I gave for all the games I played. For such a simple game, I can't believe how addicting and cozy it is. The grass moves, the bushes move. And you figured out how to get textures in the landscape to change. The creature is really interesting, just really awesome job for a game jam game. The concept is super unique. I think you could have something really great here if you polished it a bit.

Edit: Do you mind sharing how you did the trees? I tried to make trees for my game, and ended up with stuff that was too high poly for the game so I had to take them out.

Developer (1 edit) (+2)

I would LOVE to share how I did my trees! This is an article for a very similar method to what I used. The major difference is that, instead of making a mesh of 3 intersecting quads, I actually projected the quads of the leaf mesh as billboards through texture coordinates in unreal engine similar to the method here. The branches and trunks are just cylinders without the ends capped. The ends of each branch point up and away from the player and rather small so you can't actually see that the ends aren't capped. Finally, while I didn't actually finish my global wind setup, (I wanted to set it up so that it changed direction from time to time), here's a method I love using for global wind as well as a very nice way of setting up a wind sway material for the trunk and branches in unreal engine.

I do want to say though that not all of the trees belong to me. We ended up using an asset pack to increase the tree variation (You'll have to ask Dazalius what the pack's name is because I can't remember). However, I did end up modifying the textures and materials of the trees to further match them to my own trees. The massive oak tree in the middle of the valley is the most noticeably different.  The moss texture on the base of the trees and the tops of the rocks is my own hand painted moss texture set as a world aligned texture that uses texture coordinates and world position offset to color only the bottoms of the trees and the tops of the rocks.

Thank you so much for noticing our work, and I hope you follow us for future games! <3

The pack's name was "Stylized Forest"

Thank you! That was so detailed.

Very nice! I loved it!

Nice game!  I like how it is shedding leaves the whole time.  Little concerning that there seems to be no face.  The effect where you turn only some of the leaves made me wonder how you did that.  Very cool!

Developer(+1)

The character does have a face actually lol. Its easier to see once you get the cave upgrade.

The leaf changing effect was done with a render target  used as an alpha mask on basically every material in game.

Well Done! I like this game in many ways the art and environmet, appealing, and the game is very relaxing. Well Done!

Submitted(+1)

That's a very good entry ! Simply beautiful and relaxing, that was a very nice experience !

However, the game was very laggy on my computer which was very annoying yet quite normal when you see how many assets you have to render x)

All in all it's a very good job !

Do you mind sharing your specs? This will be very helpful for future games we make!

CPU : Intel core i5-7500

GPU : NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti

RAM : 16 Go

Developer(+1)

Oh wow. You have a newer graphics card than me, so it's likely down to your cpu. I'll look into this. I know we didn't really have time to set up LODs for most of the meshes so that's probably a big issue right there. I also have some other ideas for how to improve performance overall, but I think the LODs will probably fix the bulk of it. Thank you so much! You've been a big help!

Submitted(+1)

Indeed it is very likely to be LODs because lags appeared only when the camera had an angle that made a lot of objects rendering. There was absolutely not lags when looking at the sky or a map border for example.
Glad to help anyways ;)

Cracking experience.

The process of driving the seasonal change stirs the completionist vibes and hooked me right in. The overall style works really well with the theme & just catches the eye at every turn.

Really well put together & fun time to be had in a charming world.

Amazing job you did here in 2 weeks, beautiful art style and mechanic where you transform the vegetation around you (with some things you can find in the map to add extra motivation). With more time, polish and performance improvements this could be a very interesting experience.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! I don't think I've ever created so many assets from scratch for a jam before, and I'm still not 100% satisfied with all of them, but the ones that I am, I'm very proud of. <3

The environment this game has is beautiful and it truly feels nice and cozy while exploring the world. I love the caves with the glowing mushrooms, easily one of my favorites along with the waterfall. It took a while to understand how to get upgrades and there was a small bit of frame drops due to my GPU being a bit more towards the lower-mid end but besides that it was a fun experience to explore the world and see some beauty into it. Good stuff

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

I'm glad you enjoyed it! It was a whole lot of fun to make.
