Originally started for the 7DRL 2020 jam, Runelite was more of just a proof of concept then. Over the past year since I put in tiny bits of work here or there but for this FFSJam I was able to dedicate the whole month just to Runelite.

Game Video
I played the standalone version so not sure how different it is from the 7DRL Jam version.
Well..definitely a weird one that's for sure,but not in a bad way.
I seem to have 0 hp but still be alive? idk at least that's how it looks to me but at least that made it so i could give the a look without much of a worry.
A thing you could do is for projectile to not be able to hit behind walls, you may see what i'm referring to in the video.
In level 1 or 2 , i didn't know you could destroy torches so i though that was some bad generation but i'm glad it wasn't as i figured that out later.
I tried a few rune combinations but not sure how good or intended i did.
It has a nice little concept but obviously there's also different factors to take into account like spell casting (each rune uses up a turn , how many do you need at a time?) This is a ranged character so he needs to be further from the target but still be able to hit it.
It could be nice if you could make the game window bigger and some music.sfx , i had to play some bgm myself to not feel the mood drain into oblivion.
The graphics are very nice looking , giving a bit of a serious and cute vibes.
Hope it goes well in the future regarding the project!
If you could be kind, could you also check my game?

The 7DRL version was the one from the middle of last year to keep a record for people looking at the 7 day roguelike jam page! It looks like I accidentally uploaded an old build for the standalone D: I'll fix that right away, sorry for wasting your time, that one was for testing thats why you couldnt die, and there were free items at the start.
edit: ok the standalone build should be fixed now. if you do decide to try it again, the title screen should say Demo Edition in yellow at the bottom
I really liked the enemy designs. The lightning bolt creature whose movement and attack were combined was very clever. The spell system was also very compelling! Really enjoyed this one
Thanks, I really like that enemy :D glad you enjoyed it!

Cool game! find my video review below:
1:39:10 Runelite
thank you for including me in your video! yea, my game is much slower has more complicated controls than some of the others here lol.
I enjoyed it, reminds me of the app pixel dungeon with a more in depth magic system! Sound effects would help bring it to life. You could check out the retro sound pack by Sidearm Studios, those sounds would fit the game's style well. Fun game though!
Thanks, and thanks for the suggestion too, I'm gonna give it a listen!
Awesome :)
This game is so far along in every way except the music, that's all it needs. The artwork is one of the best I've seen from jams so far.
Wow, thank you for the very high praise!
This was an awesome submission ! I love the graphics, it’s a very polished design. I would definitely look into music and sound effects ASAP, that’s one of the most important things in making the player experience fun and enjoyable. Also, there should be a tutorial dungeon that only occurs when you first play the game, but to teach the mechanics because there are a lot of them and you are just thrown into it from the start. Overall really great job and I see a lot of potential !
Please check out my game ! :D Escape Path Beta
Thanks! Yea another person mentioned a tutorial too, I like the idea of it automatically starting you in it the first time playing. Actually it could even skip character select for that first time and go straight in, hmm. Also I actually already have yours open in my chrome tabs to try haha. I may not get to it tonight, cause my hands hurt from the platformers I was rating today, but I definitely will give it a go.
Thanks ! Definitely take a break from playing platformers lol.
A true roguelike worthy of its name :) It gets a bit of time to get into the game (I’m still burning myself on constant basis), but it’s a lot of fun to play. From minor nitpicking - the game barely fits on my 1366x768 screen; exit is often obscured by wall tops. Also random might need a bit of polish - you can either burn the whole floor without taking any damage, or get out barely alive from full health, just because the very first room had a few tough enemies. Yeah, and I know it’s too much to ask, but some audio feedback on player’s actions would have been very cool. Got “Static charge” perk but all I got to the point was burning loot and firestands splashing on the player character.
Thank you! These are all things I definitely want to improve on, for instance when targeting a spell Im going to try to make the target start on the nearest enemy instead of on the player. Also I've already changed static charge to only work for 3 moves after casting a lightning spell (but I'm waiting until ratings are over to publish more updates). Audio is definitely a big undertaking I want to tackle too, hopefully in a satisfying way.
You might want to try out this set https://opengameart.org/content/512-sound-effects-8-bit-style at least temporarily. I feel like it would fit the overall game mood :)
thanks these are a nice collection! Im still not sure if Im going to go with 8-bit style but this will be great to test with a consistent style to find out
I had a lot of fun playing this game! I feel that it's very well put together. The graphics and effects were all very well incorporated! The audio may just be a tad bit underwhelming but that's okay! I also believe it might be better as a mobile game, but I'm on the same boat as you haha. I think my game is better as a mobile too but I didn't really have experience on it on Unity >< . Nonetheless, AMAZING game, keep it up!
Thanks, Im glad you had fun! There's actually no audio at all haha, so thats very fair, but one day that will change! Maybe once I get the game controlling completely with mouse, it will be easier to try to make it mobile.
This was a lot of fun! The gameplay was super smooth, and the graphics are super visually pleasing! I can tell you put so much time and effort into designing all the runes, enemies and stats, and it really shows.
This was my first time playing a game of such calliber so I can't really comment on stuff like balancing. All I can say is for my first experience playing a rougelike, this was sure an enjoyable one! I'd love to see more of this game as it develops, as well as try out other rougelike games in the future!
The only thing I'd suggest is enabling the full screen button. It could just be that I have a narrow screen, but I wasn't able to see both the upper and lower equipment status UI at once. Scrolling down blocked the weapons/equipment and scrolling up blocked the runes. Full screen should deffs fix this though because windowed was very close to being the right fit. Just not quite ;)
Awesome job!

Thank you, I'd love if my game could be considered a good introduction to roguelikes! I was worried the fixed resolution I have set might be a problem for some people, there is actually a secret fullscreen hotkey (F4) but the ui doesnt properly adjust and it might change how many tiles you can see so that's why I dont advertise it atm, but it's on the list. Side note, I only just now noticed what your icon is, thats awesome
OK, this is my favorite game from this game jam! It has such good RPG type combat with a roguelike map system and to top it off, you can get awesome stuff. Like, 9/10. The only problem is that the game doesn't have any audio on my end (probably my headphones) and it kinda' weakened the gameplay, especially the combat. But other than that it was amazing! Good work indeed!
Wow, that's very high praise! Thank you, I was gonna say don't feel pressured to play it, but I'm glad you enjoyed it :D. Yea, there actually isn't any audio atm, I really should have mentioned that somewhere hah, I really want it to compliment the gameplay, and make everything feel punchier, I just gotta decide on a style, and figure out how, then commit to it.
I think the best part of the game was how it took so short to learn the game (ever for how complex the game was) I only made it past like the second area but it was still pretty fun!
I really like this concept! The game is really fun and the art is stellar. The only thing that could make it better would be some sound and music.
Thank you, I agree that it needs audio! (one day~)
This game is definitely noteworthy and the design looks beautiful
I have little experience in isometric games, but if I saw it on a mobile device, I will definitely download it)
Thank you very much :D
Loved it ++++++
Lots of fun. If I had this on mobile it would probably replace pixel dungeon for me :)
Here are the bugs I found (they are both small / visual)
going downstairs right after killing someone and the damage indicator never disappears
I hovered over a new rune to see what it was and the tooltip showed the enemy that was coincidentally nearby
And even when I moved it still showed the enemy stats when I moused over that rune for the rest of the run. Didn’t figure out what the rune was until I got to the shopping bit.
hey also a suggestion would be: when casting a rune have the same tooltip open?
So I target an enemy I also see that enemy’s stats. Because I forget to check resistances etc most of the time….
Thanks! A few people have mentioned mobile now, I guess I better look into that more >.> lol. Also those bug reports and suggestion are helpful! I like the idea of seeing the enemy tooltips while casting, hmm I think it might need to have a special static position in that case maybe on the edge of the screen as to not cover up anything you anything you are aiming at. Good things to consider!
This was really fun! I love the art style, its clean and consistent, and all the important things jump out at you.
The gameplay is excellent, trying out the different rune combinations is really satisfying. There's so much potential for different powers and items, cant wait to see what you add next!
Level generation is great, no two levels feel similar. The layout always allows for an escape route, I never felt too boxed in, unless I ended up in that position by mistake!
All it's missing is sound, though that could be a problem on my end!
One or two things I noticed:
-When you pick up something that increases your health, it looks like you take damage because your "remaining health" bar gets shorter compared to the max health. Decreasing your max health makes it look like you gained it. It's only cosmetic but it could lead to a bit of confusion.
-Item drops are occasionally obscured behind the top of the walls.
-Ranged enemies often try to shoot through solid walls.
Other than that its a really solid game, keep it up! :D
Thank you for the really thoughtful review :D, it makes me really happy to hear these points because some of them were things I was directly trying to achieve like readability and infrequent dead-end levels. You are correct, there is no sound atm, though I do plan to tackle that eventually. Also that's a good point about the game feel of gaining max health.
Really nice job! The sprite work here really stands out to me, with each enemy having so much personality and character in just a few pixels. The gameplay was very well thought out, and reminded me of crypt of the necrodancer's "turn based" combat, to an extent. I'm not sure if there's no sound, or if I just couldn't hear it, but I think sounds and music would make this even better.
Thank you! Necrodancer was definitely a big inspiration for me. There isnt any audio atm, I do want to add sounds and music, I just gotta figure out how to do it right, so it might be awhile.
Bro! Thats really satisfying! I rated 5 in everything. really nice concept and you can develope it further, BEST WISHES TO YOU :D
:D Thank you! I hope to eventually make it into a full commercial release
Really nice game man, feels really full with lots of content. The sprites really pop and have satisfying animations. I'd be careful with the name though, Runelite's already a popular runescape client name so you might have trouble getting it out there with runescape already been so established. Will be rating when the jam voting opens
Thank you very much! I saw a little about the runescape, thats like a tool or addon though not its own game? Either way, I'll definitely keep it in mind.
