I really enjoyed this game a lot.

Took me a while to get the hang of it, but I once I did, it was pretty fun and addicting.

Thank you for making this and sharing it with us :D

This is amazing!

First of all, I loved the soundtrack and art!
Gameplay is good too, combining combat and rhythm is very innovative, but i thought the game is a bit slow
Also, for some reason i still took damage when using dodge buttos, i don't know if it needs timing or something

I really liked the concept, it's a great game, nice work!

Congratulations on the great sound and art deisgn! I got little bored 2 minutes in but I really liked the idea!

This game looks and sounds beautiful. I love the rhythm match-up with turn based combat. A really polished experience.

That was fun! Initially had a slight frustration as I thought I had to press it after the 4th note on the bottom was "clicked". Realized that I didn't have to. Super neat! Will be playing some more later for sure~ :3

Hallo,

Thank you for sharing your game. I’ve already saved its RATING;

1. verified: GAME due to sample screenshot has noticeable drawing technique, and read “developed in approximately 2.5 weeks”.

2. notes: noticeable background musical tune to appear to be of PROFESSIONAL GAME DEVELOPERS, where: PROFESSIONAL : receives INCOME from developed and released GAMES; with OVERALL OUTPUT, has PROFIT

3. observed: using web browser on desktop/laptop, full screen mode causes incorrect position of objects; adds: IF opting to use non-full screen mode, shall first need to set to full screen mode, and then return to non-full screen to cause the positions to be correct; notes: such OUTPUT may NOT be so using mobile;

4. notes: pixel drawing technique to be learnable;

5. read: “In development” status

Thank you. Health

Cool clicking button RPG!

Submitted(+1)

Very satisfying to play on mobile. The pixel art is so beautiful, as well as the sound and music, everything blends together very well. The mechanics with the buttons are very creative. Fun experience!

Submitted(+1)

Very consistent design with all the pixel art! The concept is very interesting, although I found things to move somewhat slow at the beginning. One complaint is that the coin button often appeared on top of something like the block or attack button, and caused me to take a hit while trying to defend myself. Would be right at home on the App/Play store!

Submitted

I don't know what's happening. Why am I clicking these buttons?

Submitted(+1)

Smooth gameplay, clever graphics and interesting design for a mobile game! Very polished! GG!

Submitted(+1)

Great game, needs a bit more feedback if you click in the right rhythm or you get hit. Other then that I like the style and a good idea for a phone game

Submitted(+1)

For a long time I could not figure out how to attack, swipes in the clicker is something new. I'm waiting for the release on mobile ^^

Submitted(+1)

Really interesting idea! was expecting idle game going in and received the opposite :)

Only complaint I have would be warning about enemy attack sould be made more visible - the text and font are dificult to see when my attention is on pressing buttons. Maybe add some "!" sprite that pops when they are about to attack. Warning should also come with noticable sound effect.

Submitted(+1)

Innovative gameplay and loved the graphics - was a little confusing at first but once I got the hang of it it was smooth to play.

Submitted(+1)

It was a bit difficult to understand how it works, even reading carefully the howto. But if the gameplay is polished, this has lots of potential for a mobile game. Music and graphics are great. Good job!

Developer

Thank you for playing! Depending on reception I'll consider whether I want to finish it and release it as a free mobile game.

Thank you for the comment on the music/graphics! I do just want to quickly plug the stage 5 music here (cause I assume most people won't be getting there) as I'm pretty proud of it haha Gaffy's Bossfight Theme

Submitted(+1)

It took a while to figure things out, but I was playing on desktop which I can see is not its intended play. The gameplay is quite innovative, would play this on my phone. The music is nice and the graphics are nice. I hope buttonman no longer gets bullied

Developer

Thank you for playing! I figured it'd take people a bit to figure it out cause as you said; I feel like the gameplay is quite innovative and when something's "new"/"innovative" it will always take people a bit to adjust - I'm sad I didn't get to finish the tutorial due to an arm injury but it is what it is! Also, you're right! The game was made with mobile in mind, and it does in fact work on mobile! Sadly I messed up my webGL build so the resolution does weird things on mobile - it's definitely something I need to look into later on.

Thank you for the compliments!

It's a really nice concept. I suddenly got hay fever during production.

Developer (1 edit)

Oh no! I hope you're feeling better now! Did you lose much time to the hay fever? Still satisfied with the final product?

I do have it up on my list to play during the upcoming week, sno spoilers! :D

Submitted(+1)

Feeling much better! I didn't lose a lot of time, but it was annoying. After the jam though...

Submitted(+1)

Took me a while to figure out what I was doing. After a few rounds, I figured it out and then lost the benefit of a countdown before an enemy attack.

I was playing on my desktop -- I could see how this might work a little better with a touchscreen. I would probably speed it up, too.

Developer

Thank you for playing! Did you end up figuring out what to do? I'm sorry for inconveniences! I still have a bit of a hard time figuring out where and how much player feedback I want to provide. I did have plans for a tutorial but due to an arm injury I was unable to keep working on it, so I just quickly put together a simple "How to play" screen, a tutorial would've benefited I feel!

It was definitely, originally, intended as a mobile game, so the controls are somewhat mobile-like too (as you have assumed correctly haha), however, I messed something up when it comes to the webGL resolutions so unfortunately I couldn't add the "mobile" tag on there. Time to figure this out for next time!

Submitted(+1)

Once I went back to the game page to look, I figured out what I was doing with the button pushing, swiping, etc. The time of the attacks other than luck, I could not figure out.

Developer

Attacks are only successful when the enemy is within melee range of Buttonman; I guess that's another thing to write down for player feedback for future content :D

The graphics are wonderful and full of color! I wasn't 100% sure how the pushing-buttons-on-beat worked, I mostly just clicked on buttons as they appeared. I wasn't sure about all of them, there were a few buttons that just remained on my screen because I couldn't use them. The concept is very unique and creative. I could see myself playing this on my phone while on a bus!

Developer

Hi! Thank you for playing!

The game technically IS a mobile game idea (I did test it on android as well), but sadly I messed up something with the resolution so now it's unplayable in the browser on mobile, hence I didn't "advertise" it as a mobile game. Thanks for the comment, and as for the art, I'm happy you liked it! As a non-artist myself it was one of my bigger struggles for this jam haha.

Submitted(+1)

Nice submission! Everything was really polished, I personally loved the graphics.

Maybe you could provide downloadables (I mean, a downloadable build) in addition to the web version, so we can also play offline. But thanks anyway, and congrats!

Submitted(+1)

Oh, I’ve noticed you added a downloadable build for Windows. Is it possible to also add builds for Mac OS, Linux or Android?

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your comments! As a non-artist I was really struggling with the art, so I'm glad many people including you seem to like the graphics quite a bit!

I did test the game on Android using Unity remote but I haven't made a build, I'll look into it tomorrow!
