Really like the concept, feels like a good game to have on the phone!
Although, Day cycle is a bit too fast, was trying to figure out controls and was already being attacked, maybe decrease the day time the longer you survive instead of already being too small.
Boy is it unforgiving! I feel like most tower defense games don't make you build your defenses in real time... and the timer isn't very long.
I love the graphics, and I love all the customization options! Once I got the hang of it, there was a fun groove!
Currently, it feels like there isn't much progression built in... you start with all the build options unlocked, and there's no way to increase how quickly you generate wood/steel/gunpowder, so there's no reason not to pick the best stuff available.
The dragon enemies are mean... none of the weapons I tried were able to stop them before they torched my entire base.
I love the little sound effects used, and the simplistic style really works for this type of game!
That took a bit of working out, but once I figured it this is a fun, almost tower defence game.
Can't believe you squeezed so much into 1 month!
Nice design & solid mechanics!
At first I had a lot of trouble with the controls (I wish the build menu would close if you click outside of it) and with finding time to read everything (I kept getting killed while reading about the different pieces, and the pause menu covers the build menu), but after a while I was able to get into the flow.
Nice to see so many customization options in a game-jam game. Nice job.
I like that game. Awesome visual style, many different weapons, endless upgrades, energy and space managing. That's really cool. The only problem is in diffficulty. It's really difficult to start because you don't know what different weapons do and the morning is very short. But that's good I like difficult games but then starting from some moment enemies even can't enter your screen. I think you need to balance it a bit. But for 1 month work really good. One of the best games on jam.
Woohoo! 5 Days! Like others, it took me a minute to figure out navigating the menu for the weapons. Once that got straightened out it worked a lot better. It was still easy to panic smash apparently. Liked the game and concept. It would be easy to make this engaging. I like the variety in zombies that started to come out.
A bit challenging because day time is short, but all in all a fun game!
It's very interesting to see tower defence here! the time of day is short, and the zombies are so fast, it was a challenge to survive for more than a week for me, nice strategy game :) Well done!
Hey! Really nice game.
It is a really nice take on tower defense games. It was hard to get into in the beginning as the day time was kind of short and i didn’t realize i could build weapons initially. Yeah i know i should have read the instructions :P
After realizing what i should do it was pretty fun to play and i ended up spending more time on it than i initially thought!
Keep up the good work!
Got killed by the 10th wave, the difficulty curve raises a lot, should have get ready for the big guys. Anyway, a fun game once you start getting the grip, easy to play, hard to master. Good job!
Fun game, took a few goes to get past the first wave though.
After I understood how to play it, it got really good.
Really good fun! the core loop works very well and is pretty balanced aside from the issues with the very first wave that others have mentioned. It could definitely do with a bit of background music! If you're not very musical yourself, I recommend going to somewhere like https://opengameart.org/ and checking out the free to use music that people have uploaded to see what suits the vibe of your game.
The game worked well and I like the graphics a lot. Reminds me of TurboFx games style.
Starting the 1st wave manually would be a good improvement yes, at first you are finding out what every type of building does and before you know it you are in the night, being attacked and unable to place new buildings ;p
I really enjoyed your game. Really fun, simple and polished. Great work!
Oof, i was plan for the map to be expand every X day might add that feature after the jam over.
Had a lot of fun playing this game. It took me a few tries to get through the start but after that I had a lot of fun seeing all the new towers and enemy types. I like the freeform building and its cool there are so many towers that all operate a bit differently. And while the graphics are simple I think they are quite nice and I like the animations. However, I don't really see how it fits the theme. But overall great job!
I might be wrong but an "zombie apocalypse" could consider as an movie/game cliché right?
I like the idea, but it could really benefit from a gentler introduction. I didn't get very far in my first 3 attempts. For me, imminent danger is a bit vexing when I'm trying to learn a new game.
Maybe consider pausing the day/night cycle until the player has completed their first structure, just to get newbies into the actual gameplay.
Yeah nice ideas. I forget most tower defense game will make the player manually start the first wave.
Cute little tower defense!
Simplistic feel, appropriate sound effects (I did miss SOME kind of ambient music a little, but not much of a big deal!).
Things I found particularly interesting:
- Day/night cycle
- Vertical building
Huge pros:
- Very responsive, any hover over a button, mouse click, hotkey press, everything just responded instantly which was nice.
- Ran super smooth, kind of links in with the previous point.
- Self-explanatory, the game mostly explained itself in a genre that doesn't quite need any explanations, which is nice! (I don't need another tower defense tutorial that'll teach me that towers shoot at enemies, these days, haha)
- Ability to skip the morning was nice! Nothing to do/build? Just skip into the next night!
Points of improvement:
- Some music (even a free asset would've greatly helped set the ambience)
- Some of the UI was a little unclear for me right off the bat, like I had a bit of an issue on how to spot the day/night cycle.
All in all, fun entry! Thanks for your submission!
A good tower defense! The day/night cycle in my opinion is a good idea cumulate with the vertical building add more chalenge and possibilities.
But, the audio is frustrating, no background music and sfx are basics.
