Game description
Step into the shoes of Buddy. Buddy is a young, enthusiastic elf starting their first day at Santa’s workshop, thrilled to join the magical crew preparing for Christmas. But when you arrive, something feels…off

Objective: Buddy needs to find Santa, who is behind all this and requires him to come out in the light (Starting stage), where the old wise Elf is also stationed. Be careful not to lose your way out, and beware of enemies as well, because they might stun you.

Glad you liked it!

A fun open-world platformer with pleasing visuals. I particularly loved the cutscene at the beginning I thought that was very well done.

A humerous game with a murderous santa. Top notch would play again ;)

I like the concept. Elf saves the north pole from evil santa. The Art and Audio was great. However I couldn't finish the game as the Santa chase segment was way to hard.

I am very bad at platformers, but I fell like the game is a little too hard. Good job overall, the game looks and sounds really good, It's also very smooth and playable!

I loved the polish and effort put into this game, but the gameplay seemed a bit difficult. Its tough to understand the perspective of new players from the developers point of view, so let me provide some feedback as a new player. The throwing mechanic was maybe a bit too complex, with you being able to throw the object with physics, although that was a nice touch. I would have been easier for players to understand and learn if the could just throw left and right (and up and down if need be). The fact that the player doesnt take the toy with them from room to room is frustrating and the pick up radius for the toy is probably too close. The enemies can see you when youre above them (i assume you used a radius) which seems unnatural and unfair. Apart from that everything was great: the polish in scene transitions, enemy ai movement (seemed very human like), the UI, and the audio (which I loved), and the awesome pixel art paired with cool lighting! When i used the web version and windows version with controller though, it didnt spawn me into the next scene after the beginning cutscene. I was just falling in the void, but when i restarted and tried again with keyboard it worked fine. Idk what happened there. Anyways, I had a good time playing your game, well done.

Please check out my game as well and give some feedback :)

Thanks for such detailed feedback. I think as developers we all spend a lot of time in our games and that makes it easy for us and I guess we want to give an interesting challenge to players but they don’t have the same experience as us. There was a similar thread on discord and I think that’s a good learning to take home. I played your game and I bet my experience was very different from yours.

Great game. I love the goofy dialogue, and the art. I didn't manage to finish it though because after escaping back to the beginning after meeting santa the intro dialogue was triggered and I was not able to finish. The elves are maybe too aggresive and it was better not to try fight them - just run from them and jump over them.  I like the game anyway. Great job!

Enjoyed the game a lot. The art is good, the music is fitting and the enemies are real! But couldn’t figure out the objective at the start, i.e. where to go and stuff.

Overall, the game is amazing. Plus point for the Christmas theme

Try out my game as well: https://itch.io/jam/game-off-2024/rate/3148292

It is a good platformer game with a Christmas theme. The music and environment fit for the game. However, I think that the objectives are quite confusing in the beginning.

Pretty fun game overall, the graphics and music are good especially the text boxes. My advice would be maybe make it a little less cluttered.

It took me about 10 minutes to really get the hang of it and get out of there! I LOVE the music and sound - that paired with the art is a fantastic aesthetic, and the actual gameplay feels great, despite the difficulty of throwing the toys. I also loved how the lighting gets brighter the closer to morning we get, which is a small but lovely detail. Really nice job!

The Christmas theme is well thought out - a great aesthetic to how the elements of the game come together. It's really hard to master or even get the hang of throwing the orbs. I think it might be in part because of controling it with the mouse - I might have an easier time if it was controlled with my right hand on the keyboard with 'J' or an option like that. I just had to do my best to run and dodge those elves as best as possible

please finetune the difficulty, the rushing zergs elves making it soo hard to play. the art and music is nice, and the story seems interesting, but the unapologetic nature of the game just makes it hard to enjoy.

I enjoyed it. Great job on the visuals and the sound - it looks and sounds great. Nice touch with the text options and display - I wish I could get that effect in Unity without having to buy a separate asset! I did find it to be quite hard initially and I died a LOT to that first elf! Great job.
