Hey buddy, better late than never hahaha. I really liked this one, has a lot of potential.

The atention to details surprised me, loved the bullet effects on night and I specially LOVED passing the mouse and watching the terrain going up hahaha

It was a too easy for me to be honest, I'd appreciate more challenge and a bit of variety. Anyway, you did great!

Developer

Thanks for playing man, really appreciate it. I had a lot of fun making it but wanted to add so many things I didnt have time for.

Submitted

Art style is neat. It feels like you put a lot of attention to details, but it's a pity the design doesn't make them stand out as it should

The modular generation is cool, but sometimes feels unnecessary
There is a 100% guaranteed winning strategy that revolves around spamming turrets only around the house, making the Fences useless.
Game progression is too slow compared to the economy, and sometimes the monsters can bug out by spawning in groups on the same square, preventing them from moving.

Nice game! I enjoyed the two modes and the mood each has. You've nailed ratcheting up the tension when it goes to night time. I got a JS error in Safari in Catalina that crashed the game (and it made my MBP fans go bonkers). I remember seeing this get retweeted by the GameDevTV Twitter account mid-jam and I'm glad I got to play it!

Developer

Thanks for playing, no idea about the JS error that must be something from itch or the unity webgl build i guess. Hopefully it doesnt happen again. Glad you liked it.

awesome game! I love TD games. I found it a bit hard to protect the house on all sides when I don't really know where the enemies come from. anyway, enjoyable experience.

Thanks for playing

So nice game. The only problem was that if you fully build walls around something, enemies freeze and don't move, had to turn off 3 games this way :(  . Liked switching music between day and night and game start.

If you can, rate our game

Developer(+1)

Yeah sorry i didnt have time to fix that so mentioned it in the description that it will cause the game AI to bug and not move. Was no real easy quick fix so had to leave it in to submit.

Thanks for playing

ahh, I have a soft spot for tower defense games :) the game introduction is really nice, with all the scenery "popping" up from the grass. And I enjoyed the music. After walling off my house and placing two turrets, the game was kinda easy, but I still had fun with it :)  I could imagine, it's hard to balance the difficulty on a game like this with the economy and all. Is this the first tower-defense like game, you've made?

Developer(+1)

i made some simple little ones before but this is the first procedurally made one I have done, i really over scoped it as well as had a really busy month so did not get to implement nearly as much as I wanted. Thanks for playing and trying it out.

Submitted(+1)

the music in the night is really good and fit the game situation :D, it has some things you can do that make the game too easy but other than that great jam game

Submitted

Nice entry man, that's a lot of features for a jam game, well done :)

Developer

Thanks

Ok, first of all, the music during the night is really engaging and intense ahah, good job with it! I liked the overall game and visuals, and the fact that enemies are realistic (celebrating my lose huh), it really makes you play again to revenge them.

Two things, though: first of all, there is a sharp sound when the map generates that really strikes the ears. Maybe you can fix it. Also, I would really glad to have an option to accelerate the game, for example, when I see that I already lost and just want to restart the level. But besides that, good job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing, I will check in to that sharp sound. I should have added a speed up option for sure.

I thought the enemies victory dance was a nice idea too :P

Very cool! Got a little easy when I made a wall of cannons and forced the minions through a kill box lol! I liked it a lot!

Keep up the great work!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing, yeah lots of play changes need to be made it was pretty rushed. I got too ambitious with what i wanted to do and had to scrap a lot for time.

beautiful idea, with amazing cartoon style

Thanks for trying it

This is cool! I like tower defense games, and really enjoyed the day/night twist. I would encourage you to diversify the gameplay: different towers, different enemies, different levels. As it is, I found it really easy, and not much strategy to explore.

I liked the tower animations, and the unfolding of the terrain at the beginning. And like I said, the night/day idea I find brilliant (maybe you can also expand on that).

Little suggestions: smaller health bars and smaller laser size (imho).

Well done!

Thanks for playing

Really awesome game! I’m very impressed with the concept of an open-grid based tower defense game, that’s a really nice fresh take compared to the traditional lane-based tower defense game. The openness of the map adds a lot more strategy compared to the lane-tower defense games because I have to carefully decide the placement of my defenses. The grid system works very nicely too, I have to say I’m very impressed with it! It also seems like the terrain obstacles are procedurally placed right? Because it seems like it and the terrain obstacles are very well placed all the time. I also liked the introduction animation of the map spawning and the backstory introduced. I did run into a bug where the enemies would get stuck at their spawn if I completely walled off turrets or the base. I do think a game like this has a ton of potential, especially if a variety of enemies, purchase options, and turrets were added! Perhaps if there were enemies that could eat or jump over walls, or purchase options with different defense mechanics (slow-down / mines / spikes). I do also wish that I could sell fences or turrets I misplaced. In any case, Great work! Really awesome jam game!

Thanks for playing, yeah the idea was for something basic sort of like clash of clans. In the future I might redo it and make it a lot more structured. And yes everything is procedural at runtime.

Glad you liked it.

Played the early version on Discord, its a lot more forgiving now.
Still really like the character, and the sound is cool to.

Easy to play and while a few some time.

Developer

Good to hear, thanks for playing

Great work on the game, the visuals are pretty good too :-) I see you adjusted the amount of money you get when killing, and the amount of enemies that spawns :-D It also seems like you reduced the damage of the enemies a bit which is good. Awesome :-)

Developer

Thanks for playing, yeah i tried to tweak those settings a bunch after some people playtested it. Still needed a lot of work but for a jam game I am pretty happy with how much I have improved on this one.

Submitted (1 edit)

Definitely, it is perfectly fine for a jam game. Short, and fun :-)

Submitted

The look of the game, the animations of the terrain and the elements of the scenery I liked very much.

Perhaps you may have an option to speed up the period when enemies come.
A note, playing in the browser, a part of the UI was cut off.
Congratulations for the game!

Developer

Thanks, yeah I will definitely be tweaking a lot of those aspects you mentioned. Thanks for playing and the feedback.

"Make night a cutscene so it would be more active bouncing the camera around between different battles and show the enemies coming in on ships. " 100% Agree that this will make the game feel more unique and amazing. I liked the animations on start of the level and think that this game has potential, making it a bit different from normal tower defence games.

Submitted(+1)

I liked a lot the submission, I am not a fan of the genre, but the music and the easy GUI take playing a half a dozen of rounds. Good work!

Developer

Thanks for playing, I will get to yours as well once I have time

Submitted

Great game! It was fun playing, and I think that if you added the option of fast forward time during night, it could really come together (as you can't really do anything during night time).

Cheers!

Developer

Thats a good idea, originally the idea was i wanted to make night a cutscene so it would be more active bouncing the camera around between different battles and show the enemies coming in on ships. Just didnt have the time for it. I should have added a speed option, didnt even think of it actually.
