Yey! A Cheat button :D
Was very confused first go at not being able to jump very high and reach even the first platform. But then the upgrades made sense.
Nice take on the theme, and nice set up for the game to.
Great work, well done! :)
Thank you for playing, rating and participating :D
I didn't use the button to skip upgrades! I wasn't able to defeat the red guy from the third attempt:(
It was fun! The emchanic is really good - upgrades and platformer with 360 are really work well.
The only problems I had with balance:
-Default stats are very low. You even require several upgrades to get to the first platform.:(
- A little strange max lvl difference between lvls : Shooting interval upgrades very slowly and on the max lvl it is still very big
- No projectile speed upgrade!
But it is just balance, I think, it could be easily fixed:) Overal the game is great and I had a good time playing it!
Yes i guess it is the balance :D I wanted to implement weapons in the first place, but didn't have enough time... That way I could have been a little higher with the basestats i guess.
Thanks anyway for playing, rating und taking part of the gamejam!
Fun game, nice upgrades and enemy variation!
Arrigatooooo!
Thanks for playing an rating :D
I really like that this wasn't just another platformer. It had an actual progression system that made sense. At first I wondered if the very low jump height and move speed was just bad design, but I realized I had to upgrade them. That was fun. I didn't stop until I was able to effectively destroy the golden ghosts. The simplicity of the art had a lot of charm to it, reminds me of my first platformer when I was still using game maker. This was fun. Congrats! :)
Thanks for playing and rating!
Did you see the cheatbutton? :P
I played about 8 rounds before I hit the button - nice progression system.
cheers
Thanks for playing, rating and the feedback :D
Cya at the next gamejam :D
Hey! It's another GDTV21 jammer. Glad to see you're still making games!
Your core loop is straightforward and appealing. Your audio clips are goofy and the ghost sprites are the perfect amount of odd. Unfortunately, it sort of missed the mark for me. I liked the idea of growing stronger, but playing at those early power levels didn't feel good either. If you want the player to get stronger over time, you have to make sure the early parts still are fun, too. I played 4 deaths before using the "TLDG" button, and despite multiple jump upgrades, I still couldn't reach anything beside the upper level. Making sure all parts of your game are fun is important - players don't want to have to "put in the work" to get to the fun part later.
That being said, I still played all the way through in beast mode. I found out I could keep spending and leveling up even after it said "max upgrade". I got my health upwards of 800k. My fire rate was so fast that I think the bullets were colliding with themselves and destroying immediately. My jump shot me straight through to the top in the blink of an eye. I was a ghost killing god. The red ghost stood no chance. It was oddly satisfying lol.
Congrats on finishing another game. Keep making games and keep improving!
Hey! Indeed it ist and a 2020 :D
Thanks for the feedback! You are totaly right about the early levels! I just thought you yould feel the power more later... more impact of the upagrads, so to say. I could have implemented different weapons, but i scrathced that, beacuse of the time :(
LOL! I love to break games, too :D Well yeah, because of the colliding bullets I had to limit the upgrades in the fist place! And most of the people stopped clicking when it said max upgrades. But not CFHM... oh no! :P
Best wishes to you too!
Very fun! the game is well made. The control is smooth. And the combat is pretty good. The upgrade system is interesting, and it is fun to see how the character gets progressively stronger. The background looks good as well! Great job!
Thanks for the feedback! I know that the upgradesystem is not balanced :D but I had fun making and testing it :P
"What's wrong? Blake? Blaaaaake!"
LOVE the MGS vibes!
Really love side-scrolling shooters like this!
You did a great job creating a fun and challenging experience!
Just because of that, the name of the player is blake. :) I knew you had to die a lot and wanted to make it funnier. And for me there's no "memier" death than MGS :D
Thanks for noticing :P and of course for playing and rating my game!
Great game! I think the wave progression/enemy difficulty was really good (I did beat the last boss). Also I liked the different behaviors of the enemies, especially the bashing movement of the blue-ish ones and the big green ones. I did end up skipping ahead to max out, although I was one away from attack speed max. Until then, I had been holding back on upgrading some things, like jump and speed once I could reach the higher platforms, since he started to get a little unwieldy. Really fun!
Thanks for the feedback! I really enjoyed making and testing the game and I'm super happy that so many people enjoyed it! :D
Blaaaaaaake!
Fun game you have here! I liked the different enemy types. Like sure all of them ghosts but they all brought something unique to the game. I would have preferred to start with slightly higher base stats all around but this way progression felt more important, although that too might have been on a little bit steeper curve for my taste! I liked that the projectiles could interact with one another it felt really cool! Ohhh and I loved the voice acting, great job on that!
I get that you wanted to start "better", but like you said I wanted you to feel the upgrades! And i had to limit the max Upgrades... otherwise the game was unplayable :D
Thanks for trying it out!
Fun game and I like the upgrades. I did run into an issue where one of the green ghosts spawned inside the ground where it couldn't be hit, but nicely done overall.
Oh? That never happend before! Where in the ground?
But anyways thank you for playing!
There's one bug, that when the next round starts the health is always shown to be 10 at first.
It would be nice if there was some indication for how many upgrade one already got and how many there are still to get...
In some situations the green ones just sit around and when there's only one or two that sit nearby all you need is to get below them and keep firing...
Indeed! I could have done a lot more with it! Thank you for the feedback!
Really cool game - a mixture of Soldat and rouglike. I like it. I'd add a reload gauge as I didn't know if I can shoot again already or not yet.
Yes! That was recomended a lot! Thank you for the feedback!
Interesting concept, and challenging!!!
I have infinite power!
Great submission! I like that you can upgrade after you die! I’ve rated your game. I hope that you’ll check out and rate my submission as well. :-)
Of course I will rate your game too! Thank you for playing :D
Awesome game! The mechanic was straightforward, but the interesting part is how to balance the abilities of the player in order to efficiently eliminate the enemies , and the enemies become more tough and aggressive as the player stats increase. Responsive and smooth controls and neat graphics, this game got me hooked, overall enjoyed playing! congratulations! keep it up!
Thank you very much! It was also a lot of fun to work on it :D
I really put a lot of time into this. Close to an hour, I want to say. It has a really addictive game loop. I think one easy way to farm in this game is if you can get up to the green ghosts then you can just sit at the bottom and farm the blue ghosts to get a ton of money. So might be something to change unless that's intentional. Great work with your submission!
Well if you made it to the green ghosts without the cheat-button you deserved to farm I would say :P
Thank you fpr playing!
Great fun little game, I loved how you used the theme of the jam to apply upgrades
Thank you for playing :D
As you say, it isn't balanced. I did use the cheat button eventually and was flying around like a super-human. It wasn't clear what the ultimate goal was though? I ran around like crazy and shot a lot of ghosts, sometimes they were blue. Sometimes they spawn on top of you and sometimes I felt like I was shooting myself.
A couple of bugs, after you max out a skill you can still press the button and spend points and I don't think my health increased on the UI after upgrading until I took damage.
IMO you were a bit stingy with points early on or maybe I was just unlucky, for the first few deaths I was getting 1 coin (plus the free one) per death before I was overwhelmed with ghosts and I couldn't always get to that point because of all the ghosts on top of me
The goal was the Boss :P After 10 waves the boss spawns. This bug happens if you click to fast :P I got that too. And the ghosts have different abilities: white melee, blue melee but stronger, yellow ranged, green summoner who spawns blue ghosts. I would say you got unlucky, after two three deaths you should have about 12-20 points and in later waves you get crystals which are more points worth.
Thank you for playing :D
