That was great. Such a fun puzzle to play. There have been other similar games this jam - I think this has the nicest, smoothest mechanic of them all! I dig the tritone color and the chill music, too.

Very fun game following the jam's theme perfectly!

Not too easy nor too hard, just perfect for a casual play. The checkpoints were a nice touch that many other games that I tried in the jam don't have.

Well polished presentation and well thought out game mechanics, puzzles and level design.

The music and the sound effects chosen were great too.

Works as a really good demo that I can see becoming a full game.

Great game!

Awesome, awesome, awesome. The fact that you praised my game means even more coming from the creator(s) of this game. When I was coming up with an idea for this jam, I entertained a similar concept to this, but I couldn't think of a way to make it unique or interesting, as the idea has been done before. The way this was executed, however, was better than I've ever seen it. I love that the levels have multiple ways to be solved (instead of just one solution like most games of this type). I love that there are checkpoints which raise the stakes. I love that there are obstacles to intentionally hit and some to just avoid. All of these elements combine to create a very fun experience that didn't get old repeating the level over and over. Very charming and relaxing aesthetics, too, despite the game getting appropriately challenging.

I also love mechanics that build off each other, and this game has it in spades. Amazing level design. Super polished. Overall, best game I've played in the jam thus far. Very well done.

Developer

wow! Thank you for the praise, man. We really appreciate it!
Yeah, we knew the mechanic was not particularly original, so we did our best to try and make it interesting. I'm glad you think it worked! As I said before, I really enjoyed your game. I hope you can build on it after the jam!

This game is definitely the best puzzle platformer we have played so far! The levels are fun and the difficulty feels just right, the art is great proper pixel art with a consistent style and palette and you were also very attentive to avoid certain possible game-breaking mechanics (like the platform squeezing the character in one level but not making it stuck). Overall really good job, we really enjoyed playing it and would play a longer version of this too :D

An excellent puzzle game, the art is gorgeous, the mechanics are solid and no bugs on site!

I loved the background details, they add a lot to the game!

I saw the main idea in a couple of other jams before, but, I don't mind!

The execution easily covers that up!

Thank you for you kind comment!

Just played ur game and liked it a lot!

The main idea of our game is something i saw in other jams too, but indeed, it all comes down to execution and ambience.

Glad to know we nailed it :3

Wow this game is FANTASTIC! It's almost perfect. Few mechanics, that work perfectly well together. Great art, great music, great game name, and loved the idea of the several cat lives :D.

The only thing that I think could improve the game is controlling the jump with button press length. Sometimes you just jump higher than you want. But that's a detail, the game works extremely well!

Nice done! I think my highest rating so far :D

heheh i love the play on words from your title! CAT-ta-comb hahaha
It took me awhile to finish the last level ^w^, but i didn't give up! So I managed to finish your game after so many tries!
I loved playing this so much XD. I didnt get it at first that i had to die to reach new places, and that is so amazing! Awesome game ^w^.

Developer(+1)

Oh! U're the 3D artist from Outer Darkness, right?!

I'm so glad u had a great time!  The last level makes me wanna cry in a corner a little bit LOL but life is a challenge, right!?

Congrats a lot on ur game too! I got pretty scared at the beginning and scared the fuck out of my cats by screaming hahahha

We have similar idea about the game mechanic, but your execution is so much better. Really great job!

Really nice game, love the spritework and lighting

Very nice and polished, congrats! Makes me remember Life Goes On, which is a mechanic that I knew some people would try on this jam!

When using a gamepad, the cat keeps sliding and I couldn't jump, but I don't know if it is a problem with the gamepad (it's a generic xbox-like controller), or the game does not fully support controllers.

Good luck on the jam!

Developer(+1)

Hey! The game currently does not support gamepads/controllers, but we’re thinking of adding it in the future. It would fell out of the scope for the jam and we just wanted to deliver a nice and polished game. Thanks for commenting!

Wow, this game is incredible. The music matches with everything. The fact that you chose how to die in order to complete the level even faster. Just beautiful.

Very fun game and good gameplay mechanics. Nice level design and sfx. The concept of using your death as a means to progress is awesome and fits into the theme.  I have similar gameplay mechanic in my game. Overall great work.

Played and rated. Amazing submission!

Had lots of fun. Played till what I believe was the last level.

Pros

  • Visual style is fantastic and professional
  • Music and audio is clean and fits very well
  • Gameplay is very fun with the checkpoint and strategic moves

Cons

  • Too good

Excellent submission in my opinion, had a great time and no real downsides.
