Ok, I'm gonna break my commenting rule, put gamepad controls in this and I could full on play for hours
A quick restart level button so save self-killing the rest of the lives would be nice

Thank u so much for playing! We decided to go simple with controllers to make it work in time for the subs, but that's a cool idea and we'll definitely visit it as we start doing some fixes and improvements!

So sorry u didn't catch de reset button, it actually exists right beside de life count, maybe we should go bigger?

Really appreciate the feedback and thank u so much for the earnest feedback :3

Wow, what a good little game. The idea is neat, the controls smooth, and the sound and aesthetics pleasing. I enjoyed this more than any other game I rated so far. I'd like to see if it makes a full release eventually.

Thanks so much for this game. I think of all the games I have played this has one of the best level design and mechanics. Great work

Fun

Enjoyable, but I had a number of issues super early. Audio had a lot of problems, and when I landed on wall spikes the corpse would float above it. Once I figured out the corpses just weirdly float, I was able to figure out how the puzzles worked.

Great checkpoint system.

Aesthetics

10/10. Great color choice. Pixel art looks great.  Love the little landing clouds and death animations.

Music

Very good music.  Fits the game.

Sound

Great use of sound, and it is picked very well. Bugged though.  Wish it didn't crackle constantly.

Mechanics

Using the corpses of your previous lives is great. I've seen a few times in this game jam, so it mostly comes down to implementation. I encountered a few bugs with where the corpses landed and their hitboxes,  but otherwise good use. Having the corpse stay floating mid air rather than fall to the ground is an interesting design choice, but it worked really well and lent to some interesting puzzles even if it looked bizarre.

The movement is solid. Good speed and jump acceleration. No complaints.

Story

Seems the story is to get out of the catacomb? Didn't find anything regarding story outside of conjecture.

Theme

10/10 here as well. The mechanic fits the game jam theme perfectly, and you used the nine lives of a cat to further explain the multiple lives mechanic. Art, music, and sounds all come together and work in harmony.

Developer

Hey, thank you for your feedback! Would care to elaborate more on your audios issues? You're the first reporting it but I've had issues with Godot's audio on web before. What browser/OS are you on? You mentioned crackling, does it seems like game processing affect it (bigger levels/user input makes the audio worse)?

Submitted(+2)

During every sound, the game would make a crackle noise, like when you crank a sound to max volume or it has been overly compressed. I encountered it in every level, so I believe it may be godot, the browser, or even my own audio setup. If no-one else is experiencing the crackling, I wouldn't worry about it. Great job on the game.

You get 5 stars for mechanics even after just a few levels. Adding to my collection and will share with friends. An excellent game that should be Top 10. I'm not usually a platformer player but I want to play this one.

First off love the name it is great! And the art is just gorgeous! The puzzles where quite satisfying I found the laser hitboxes to be a little bit too wide maybe? I felt like I was hit "unfairly" a few times by them. I would also maybe tune down the arrow sound just a slight notch it felt quite overpowering at times.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! Audio really needs some fine tuning, it was a last minute effort on our part... And yeah, laser hitbox was troublesome because we need to update it as the laser shinks and grows, so maybe my math went wrong! Did you felt it like that in all uses of the laser or is there a level that stands out?

Submitted(+2)

Yeah I also left audio to last and now there is only music and the one sound effect for my attack :D Hmm not too sure anymore but I am quite certain it was at least in two. I think the first one where the laser appeared and for sure the one where the at the beginning of the level the platform moves up and down with two lasers at the side!

Wow, the concept is fantastic, Really a great game! Congrats!

Nice art style and neat idea. Great work!

So far one of my favourite game jam games. Great job. I really loved how you used the nine lives to get you through the levels.

Submitted(+3)

Absolutely fantastic

The little cat adventurer is cute, the music choices are great, the look and feel of everything is fantastic.

The use of the mechanic for the theme, and leaning in heavily on the cat having lives to re-do and use their previous lives to solve the puzzles? Absolutely wonderful

Great! I really lobed this one

Excellent game, I hope this one ranks very highly. The mechanics are introduced at good pace, and the checkpoints keep it from being frustrating. Top quality art and music. My only criticisms are a few softlocks (pic included) and a few spikes that fall on you from off screen.

Developer(+3)

Thanks for playing!

There is a few twitchs we would like to fix or pay more attention so we'll keep ur review in mind when doing so!

Thank you so very much  for the attention and the feedback! Means a lot to us!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! On soft blocks, we've tried to get rid of most of them, but it's still very hard because the player can die anywhere... There's a reset button for when that happens, but I wonder since you brought it up: should we somehow introduce this idea of blocking yourself and that reseting is ok and part of the gameplay? Or should we smooth our levels so that there is always a way out?

Submitted(+1)

I'd say smooth out the potential softlocks. Levels designed around potentially softlocking would get tedious unless the levels were much shorter in my opinion. I also had a reset button in my game, it's probably the best way to go about it in a jam.

Great low-res graphics. Love the puzzle play and using cat corpses to change landscape!

Beautiful game, lovely puzzle solving mechanics.

I liked the 9 lives level thought that was a neat touch.
