I really enjoyied your game, it is really fun! Also i loved the idea of using GB Studio is the first game i see in this jam to use it, the retro feel of old GB games is unmatched!
Good Job!!
Also if you want i would really appreciate if you would play and rate my game too

Oh man nearly 30 years have passed since I bought my first green gameboy :)

Wow! I didn't expect an entry like this. Good job! Luckily we can play in the browser, because I do not have the hardware to burn for my handheld. I could try in an emulator though. Hmm.

Developer(+2)

Thank you! I still have my Gameboys but I still need to get the hardware to play the games on handheld too. I'm really excited to actually try playing it in real life! the web browser is great but something about being able to make my own physical copy is really exciting.

Definitely has a classic feel to it which explain why your avatar is the n64 lol.  I like the classic feel it had and how you avoid the attacks and all. Just few things I like to point out. One I felt at time in later level with the enemy space ships like yours, when they would go up and down, the speed felt like it didn't fit in with the game so just didn't sync right, hard to say just maybe too fast or so.  I mean I like the concept just I felt they were going to fast with how the game was running. Second the hit and game over counter had it where it took a bit of time to substract and go to game over. So if I took a hit it be a bit before it would substract one and if it was at 1 and went to zero, if i took a hit, it would go to zero but I would still be able to fly around a bit before it all of a sudden pop into a gameover so may it feel confusing at times. Great game you have here :)

Developer

Thanks for playing and thanks for the feedback! I definitely agree later on I would have liked to have a few more different enemy types and movement patterns but jam timeline I just made them all the same :P  and I did notice the delay happening when I was play testing it, I'd have to go back and check how I did the code to see if there is anyway to make it update faster or stop quicker when you die would make things play better for sure!

Still great job on it. :)

Great retro fun. I usually love playing games made in GB Studio

Man this was good, really enjoyed it, the music, the animation, and the overall vibe was solid .  As a fellow solo dev I salute you

Developer

Great pixel art, you achieved much in a short time. Loved Bebop back in the day, as well as Gradius, so this was right up my alley. I want to make a schmup myself someday! Thanks for the game ;)

Developer

Thanks for checking it out! If I had more time I would have loved to put in more bebop references maybe even try to make some songs!

It's nostalgic, the music, the art. I haven't reach the end yet. Cool game, I'll try again.

Developer

thanks for checking it out! :)

Fun!

Love the art, I liked the comic-esque intro scenes, very fast paced, I kept dying, but fun enough to keep trying! Cool game!

Submitted(+1)

This is cool! It really has that nostalgic feel; the art style, music, and SFX are perfect! I like that there’s a story as well. Good job! :D

Really cool nestalgic game!

Cool game!

I liked the idea of pretending it was a game boy game! I like it!

Developer

It is not  pretending! Gb studio lets you build games specifically for Gameboy so the rom file can be downloaded and flashed onto a Gameboy cartridge and played on the hand held! this one would need Gameboy colour :D it is really interesting to make games with but it is very limiting for total amount of things you can have going on on scree for the game boy hardware

OMG! *0*

I didn't know this!

GJ-Type! Liked it :)

yup, this took me back. i loved art and music. I would prefer a bit longer invulnerability time after getting hit, but otherwise, nice job!

Submitted(+1)

Definitely felt like a Gameboy Game, who doesn't love a space shooter with a good story.

Loved the art scheme, and the music.

One suggestion for level 3 would be to make that when you hit the green rocks, it destroys them, I lost all my lives just to one rock :(

Left you a rating, check out mine, if you have time! :)

Developer

Thanks! the rocks are actually drawn into the background to save on actors, I could maybe have increase the invulnerability timer when u hit them to help avoid that happening. I guess if u go right through the clump u hit multiple triggers and then would die. will for sure check it out :)
