Spent countless hours on the the incredible machine, really enjoyed your spin on it. The controls though are a bit difficult to operate, hope you'll get to refine them! Perhaps the biggest suggestion I can make now is to change to a more legible font - a little bit difficult to read through it. Love the music <3

Yes, I was a little on the fence about this font. I knew I wanted something whimsical, but I agree with you, I think I need something just a bit different going forward. Improving controls is indeed one of the first things on the list as well! Thanks for giving it a go! =)

I like the concept but most of the web controls didn't work for me only lmb worked

Yes, there was at least one other person with this problem, and I've since gleaned from other game pages that it might be down to the browser. Which browser are you using?

Either way, Godot WebGL support isn't completely stable right now, so the best I could do was add desktop builds as an alternative. Thanks for trying it out and letting me know about the problem! =)

Interesting. I couldn't find anything specifically about Opera GX incompatibility with WebGL 2.0 - it seems like it should work because the chart suggests Opera is supported, but that's obviously not what you experienced, ha! Oh well, something I'll just have to keep in mind I guess XD

Wow I love Rune Goldberg machines so your game was a very enjoyable one for me! I was amazed at the controls you were able to implement in the game and the freedom we had over manipulating the objects with the full range of transformation changes. The tinkerer in me was trying other ways to clear a level even after I had succeeded in leaving a final pin standing.

Very cool! I was hoping there would be self-proclaimed tinkerers such as yourself who looks for alternative solutions to the puzzles; it's the sole reason for the score mechanic and multiple pin types. When Tim mentioned in the post-jam stream that puzzle games are largely not replayable, I realized afterwards that I stumbled upon a design that actually is, and there are definitely plans to make use of that in new designs going forward. I'm thrilled you liked it so much! =D

I liked the music and really felt it went well with the chaotic theme.  Sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well or doing okay, it's great to be able to still accomplish something during those times.  Treasure this.  You've earn a rest.

Thanks for this. I feel much better now, and I am indeed over the moon about what I managed to do with my first game jam. Around the home, I tend to keep reminders of my achievements over time (good for self-esteem), and Pin Up is definitely getting added to the collection ^v^

Nice physics and great take on the inspirations, I think you did a nice job on this one especially with all things considered as well.

Thank you! It was an intense week - stressful isn't really the right word because I had a blast making this game so far, but it definitely took a lot out of me. It's really nice to see that all the effort resulted in something enjoyable already!

Dang, this is pretty awesome! Very cool use of the 3d space, giving the feeling of being back in the editor window to actually play the game! Very unique idea! 

I recognize some of those models as well! I see you also went through the Blender Beginner Course! Felt like a little easter egg to me when I recognized those haha!

I actually modified the barrel and crate to be open containers with the idea that there might be pins placed inside them, but I more or less put that on the backburner to work on other things. Those modifications are why I didn't list them as premade assets in the submission page.

I guess this is also as good a time as any to mention somewhere that there is indeed a secret in the game, and nobody seems to have found it yet. To anyone reading this, have a look at the credits screen for a hint (well... basically a giveaway actually, lol).

Woah, that's great! I love a good secret. And you're right, I totally missed it!
I put a secret in mine too lol! I left my favorite glitch that I found while working on the game in the game. You just don't see it unless you wait on the Game Over screen for 15 seconds

Great game! It is really creative :) I loved the intro though LOL

The only thing is it will be better if there is a simpler tutorial that goes step by step since the controls are a little complicated.

In addition to what I've already seen from others and come up with on my own, I'm thinking the concepts shown in level 1 should probably be spread across 3 or 4 different machines with the current control setup. Hopefully the improvements I've planned will make it much smoother!

I played TIM and see indeed the same theme. Missed the sound before the game started (if any) and resetting by space is good but a button is even better as you do everything by mouse ingame. 

I do like the interactive main menu :D. I'm jealous.

Sound is spot on for the main menu and first level but is completely different the second level.

Yeah, I threw that angled "Start" button into the intro just to make the player click in the window so that wouldn't happen. Sometimes it feels like WebGL builds have more quirks than a country fence! XD

I'm most likely going to create collapsible panels in future builds, and this should create room to have a clickable Start button and other such things. I agree, not every player is going to prefer hotkeys over a good reliable button, not least because you can't forget a button the way you can forget a hotkey!

I more or less ran out of time (and energy) before I could add sfx to the parts, but it's nice to know I'm on the right track. And yes, I'm a big fan of diagetic UI (interactive main menu) in general. Thanks for your feedback!

I would've loved to have tried your game, but unfortunately my browser couldn't run it and I just got this error:
"Error
The following features required to run Godot projects on the Web are missing:
Cross Origin Isolation - Check web server configuration (send correct headers)
SharedArrayBuffer - Check web server configuration (send correct headers)"

That's very odd - no idea why you would be seeing that, as this is the message you get when SharedArrayBuffer is unticked, but I've been sure to tick that for every build I put up (to avoid precisely this issue). Unfortunately, Godot4.x WebGL support isn't completely stable right now.

Have you tried the desktop build?

EDIT: after reading comments elsewhere, it looks like this might come down to the browser you're using. I've never had issues with Firefox, but it also never even occurred to me to test with Edge or Chrome (or anything else for that matter). If I can determine anything further, I'll post some notes on the game page.

I played the incredible machine when I was young and loved it! However, I was not able to achieve anything here, as the controls are unbeatable for me. sometimes i managed to rotate a tile, then it was zooming and it was totally unclear to me, how to switch between the modes. Way too much text on screen. I think, this game would be an excellent experience, if you would choose a different control strategy, like rotating with rmb, moving with lmb and together with shift you switch axis between X and Y. no Z axis needed.

still, i appreciate the approach of a physics game - nice work!

I agree, the control scheme is definitely not ideal. I plan on continuing this after the jam, and one of the first things I want to do is clean that up using a combination of gizmos, and an approach similar to what you described here. It'll take some thinking, as I'll need approaches both for 2.5D and full 3D. Collapsible panels probably would've been useful too. Thanks for the feedback and suggestion!

I was also confused by the menu, I didn't know what to do until I read your reply to the previous commenter. I just didn't see/notice the part about 'this pin up to play', maybe there's a bit too much happening on the menu screen? But once I got past that this was fun! Still sort of confusing, but only because I'm not good at this sort of game lol.

Awesome, thanks! This is exactly the sort of feedback I'm looking for - the game worked, it was a good time, and aspects xyz could be improved. I was trying my best to teach the concept of "pin up" as early as possible (and yes, the main menu is entirely too busy); maybe adding an in-engine tutorial cinematic before the main menu would have helped, just to show exactly what a pin up is. It's great you managed to get through the unusual menu and have some fun with this =)

Is there a second level? I love Rube Goldberg machine, this game reminded me of Crazy Machines video game but I completed it by just dragging and object above one of the pins. And 1 pin is already tipped over. Made me smile though

Thanks for taking the time to tell me about this! I think I know what happened - the pin just dropped straight down without actually changing its angle. Looks like I'll have to put out one more small hotfix after all XD

That's actually not even the first level yet, just the main menu, and fortunately, it shouldn't prevent you from checking out the rest of the game. Try rolling the ball down a slope so it knocks the pin over, or (since this is the main menu), you could also just tip it manually with an object in your hand. I left this in mostly to help demonstrate the concept of a pin up, since that's important to the game. The one pin already tipped over is also done on purpose (if you go back to my game, try grabbing the crate and knocking the other two pins over instead!)

Crazy Machines is indeed also an inspiration, but as I grew up with The Incredible Machine, that one was the primary driver behind all of this. Glad you like the concept! =)
