@NeatGames very clever game, beautiful art it looks very polished, I have a suggestion instead of using 1 or 2 why not use a single button which gives control between the two back and forth although its a suggestion overall very nice game dude :D

How does your game fit the theme?
Robojoin is a Robot with the special talent to split into two, and join back together! They can control both parts independently. Legs can jump higher, and the upper body can crawl into tight spaces. Joined together, Robojoin can shoot their eye blaster!

Beautiful game! I do have two big thinks, if you're interested.
Other people have commented on this, but the controls are not very intuitive. Why click to shoot if you can only aim by moving left and right? Why 1 and 2 instead of Tab, i.e. why use three buttons when one will do?
Second, consider what message you're sending to the player with how you present different elements. Why do destructible walls look like indestructible walls look like retractable walls? Why does the goalpost at the end of the level look like an obstacle?
Otherwise, great work! It was fun and I was a little sad when I ran out of levels to play.
Great very polished and professional game! Absolutely amazing, also fits the theme perfectly, one of the best submissions of this jam!
Amazing! I'm impressed by the amount of levels, art style, and polish. Great implementation of the split character and it fits so well with the levels how the top half can crawl in narrow spaces and the bottom half can jump higher than the whole. Great job :)
Interesting concept but I kept managing to glitch when joining/rejoining including:
- Managing to spawn 2 pairs of legs
- Duplicating the main character
- Making the legs vanish
- Managing to rejoin the robot when the torso was in a tunnel so the reformed robot got pushed to the other side, trapping the legs in an inescapable spot.
It looks fantastic and I like the core gameplay loop, but these bugs kept happening! Fix this and it definitely has potential.
The presentation was polished to a very high degree. The gameplay felt a little uninspired though. By that I mean the level design was your typical puzzle platformer. I don't really think this is a big negative though since it keeps the gameplay simple enough to be beatable by game jam standards. I did encounter a bug where when I split I created to copies of myself, which I mean too full on copies of myself, and not the intended split mechanic. And for controls, use the KISS principle. Keep it simple silly. Since You are using the mouse to shoot, you could have had the split option be right click and the switching of characters the mouse scroll. This simplifies the controls drastically and makes it more enjoyable for the player.
This game looks nice and the player and double jump feel good. The levels were a bit plain, but still enjoyable.
Shooting is the one thing you can do when both halves are together, so I would have liked to see that as part of the puzzles - like shooting a button, or if the destroyable walls were used for puzzles. I didn't feel like the enemies were necessary, they felt separate from the split/join mechanic.
I recommend this other jam game that was similar to yours if you haven't seen it: https://supertry.itch.io/assembloid
Im amazed that this was made in 2 days, the visuals look great. Thematically it works super well too. Don't really have anything I didn't like about the game, only feedback I have is that you can reuse "tab" to switch between the parts to limit the amount of buttons you need. Another thing is on level 2 I got stuck for a while because I wasn't sure what something did, some extra visual indicators when pressing buttons can be nice for those cases.
Really good submission!
Art and concept are super good. I'm usually not a big fan of pixel art but you made this look real good. in two days also.
Hey! The games really neat and the art for it is really nice but feela kinda dull for me. But the gameplay was executed really well! Few bugs here and there, but they were fun bugs! Great game :)
I love the art style! The game is also smooth to play! Very nice!
However, I found the color of the background clashed with that of the platforms, so it became difficult at times to see what was what. You might consider changing the colors so it is easier to distinguish between the two.
The polish on this game, though, is just impeccable! I can't believe the grass has an idle animation! Talk about attention to detail!
The game is cool and very beautiful, but the controls are a bit confusing : why having two buttons to control the two parts when you can just have 1 to just switch between the one you're controlling and the one you're not ? And why not use the TAB button since this one is useless once the robot is splitted ?
Also I found an interesting bug :
Probably one of my favorite entires I've played so far! I was enjoying it so much I was planning on playing the whole thing. But ran into the same bug others ran into on level 3 with two spawned robots and wasn't able to keep going haha. I'm glad I played this one as I've also subbed to your youtube to follow your other stuff :D
Absolutely beautiful! Don't tell my teammates, but we had a similar idea for our jam but I think you executed yours a lot better! Above and beyond!
It looks great, feels great to play, interesting puzzles, soothing music, lots of interesting levels. Great job! it's practically a full game!!
Nice!
had great time breaking your game to the limits and creating army of myself
Hey, I saw that you liked the tweet about my game, I hope you had a chance to play and rate it! Just finished playing your, and wow, the art is amazing, the movement feels good (aside from the top part of the robot being a bit too slow), and I loved the sounds effects. I would recommend some controls changes like other commenters, if you have time to update and get it working later definitely go for it. The button for swapping between top and bottom might be easier to use if it was just one button, and the shooting would be more convenient if it was on the keyboard as well. Overall, great game, I haven't finished it yet but I plan to later! (I'm keeping the WebGL tab open)
