Fun arcade-ish game. The general mechanics seems pretty solid for a jam, while the SFX and music were fitting.

I don't have much to suggest, everything seems polished, but having middle mouse for switching weapons was a bit weird and cause the page to roll on the browser.

Good job overall!

Thanks a lot for playing! I'm glad you liked it!
The post-jam version that I'll release once voting is over uses space instead of middle click for weapon switching.

I liked the game. It is a fun idea that really keeped me engaged for a while. Maybe don't let the player shot, when his health is down. The graphics looked good and I enjoyed playing the game.

Great work!

As I was playing I was thinking how fun this would be in an art style like Enter the Gundgeon. Cool concept and fun game.

Neat concept, I really enjoyed the controls ! The weapon change is a really nice touch =)

Pretty cool game, I like the concept of your bullets being your health, I also like the little slow mo effect that occurs sometimes when you kill the enemies.

This is an awesome concept, there's so many layers of strategy that come with this mechanic! I think adding some invincibility frames for the Player would be good, I got wiped pretty quickly when surrounded by enemies. But otherwise this is super great, nice job!

Thanks a lot for playing!

Yes, invulnerability frames are coming in the post-jam build, which has already been made. I am now just waiting for the jam to end to upload it.

Good idea for a game! The arena layout is great and there's a good variety of enemies that make things interesting and strategic.

Very cool concept :)

I really enjoy the concept, it leads to an interesting gameplay loop that I have not seen before!
Like others said, the lack of invincibility frames are a bit frustrating.
But I would love to see a polished, juicy version of this in the future!

Really cool concept. It was really well executed over all. Liked the music too, the hi-hats were catchy !~ Check out my entry when you get time :D

This was fun!  I really liked this game, the machine gun, and the slow-motion on level completion was great too.

I think you have something fun here, and with a little more polish you'll have made a great game!  I suggest you add more "juiciness" -- I'm not sure exactly how though haha.  Maybe you can add some flashing lights along with the slow motion effect.  Also, maybe you can add a split second pause on the frames when an enemy is killed.

In any case, great job.  I had fun playing!

Nice game. It's lots of fun. Love the audio and graphics.

Submitted

Cool concept, i love how it gives a whole extra dimension to weapon choice.

Submitted

Neat concept, forcing you to balance offense and evasion! Controls are tight, too. My only suggestion might be as other people here have mentioned - some more iframes after being hit, because I seemed to die pretty much instantly from any enemy contact.

Submitted

Really cool concept but I think the melee enemies kill you too fast. The player could maybe become invincible for a second after being hit or something similar to prevent you from dying so quickly but great game overall.

Good idea. I first thought that the idea of having health decreasing when shooting would be borring, but the fact that you can recover them is brilliant !
Liked the music too, the hi-hats were catchy !

The only critic would be that the enemies deal too much damage. Having an invicible frame when shot would have been nice :)

Super cool that your weapon is your life ! super cool twist on the main theme :-)
The AI could be a bit smarter when it comes to melee enemies because you can block them against blocks to take your life back.
I was curious as well if taking all your bullets back (with the automatic gun) gives you all your health back.
Nice entry :)

Thanks for playing!

I wanted to implement pathfinding, but after 2 hours fighting it to subpar results I decided to go with very basic stuff, even if it would be subpar. Lesson learned, I need to sort out 2D pathfinding instead of keeping pushing it back.

Recovering bullets only gives back the health you expended on them.

I like the game, but maybe some occasional life drops would be useful as it is unforgivin when you get hit. If that is the point that you are bound to die as each level gets harder, it is really good! Movement-wise, it is a bit hard to change direction and player is slow. All in all, great game!

Thanks for playing!

Balance was not something I had to long to work on, but I did plan on the game being hard, especially given it's short and low-replayability gameplay.

Good idea and I liked chiptune. Well done!

I'm playing on a trackpad at the moment, so I didn't get very far. But I really liked how you included cover elements, they really helped with retrieving my lifeblood and making it feel fair.

Well done on a great game!
