Very good job i like it! 10/10
I really liked the almost rhythm game nature of the main gameplay!
Would have loved to have a more engaging soundtrack, though.
This said, thumbs up!
Simple concept but a lot of fun and unique take on the theme! Great job!
I locked in for 930 points!!! Thanks for joining stream!! Played at https://twitch.tv/hedge_in <3 vod Day 4 @ 4:43:20
Simple concept, but expertly executed! I found the keyboard controls a bit confusing, but definitely can’t think of a layout that would have worked better, so no real complaint there.
Really solid attention to detail with the shadows and color coding helping to distinguish between the different sizes! With some updates to the UI and maybe the models, plus a bit more “juice”, this would be an excellent mobile game that I would probably spend way too much time playing :)
a very fun game with an interesting gameloop and it feels good to play. it definetely stretches my brain to react to things. i love the idea, and its so engaging and makes me want to try and get a higher and higher score. i would definetely download this as a mobile game! the music is top tier (ost on spotify soon?) if you do decide to continue with this, theres a few things you might want to change. the controls are a little finicky, but i understand theres not many other options you can do with the keyboard. the mouse might make for an interesting control system, and it would be a lot more intuitive as well. another thing that might be changed are the holes, as it is now, there hard to see the color of, and the size of the rings. to remedy that, maybe add an indicator below them showing their current size, and the size of the upcoming object (might make the game too easy, not sure :/). oh, and the shadows are also a bit tricky to deal with, and theyre a bit confusing. maybe try removing them or making them softer? im not sure lol. my favourite part of this game has to be the polish though, it keeps me interested and captivated!
all in all its a clean, well put together game that i cant stop playing. very cool, one of my favourite games this year!
Thank you for the very thoughtful feedback! Some of the things you mentioned are already on my list of planned updates, like removing shadows and making the catcher size more noticeable.
Would you mind elaborating on what is finicky about the controls? I've seen a few similar comments, but I honestly have no idea what they're referring to. If you put your left hand fingers in the standard WASD position, very little movement is required, and the catchers respond instantly to key presses. I haven't encountered any issues with the keyboard controls in my testing.
oh yeah, i just meant finicky as in its a control system many people arent very used to, but it would probably be easier if i spent more time playing the game lol
Ahh, got it. Thanks for clarifying!
Simple but fun game! The controls were a bit fiddly all being in the same area but it just took some getting used to :) I love the relaxing vibe with the music and the colours, it was fun, great job :)
It's quite overwhelming at first, but I can get used to it later on. I think this game could be made simpler for young children to play to train their spatial skills. I also like the "Guitar Hero" concept combined with scaling up/down simple shapes. Good job!
Very strong entry to the jam. Loved the well-designed and easily digestible mechanic. The difficulty curve was very fresh and helped in the learning process a lot. The game is FUN.
The sound work is so good, too. The chiptune music, the audio slowing down for a little when you miss, simple but effective.
This was your first jam, right? It is an amazing start. I can't wait to see you in future jams with a proper artist - you'll kill it!
Cheers!
Thanks for the kind words! I've done 2 game-making events in the past, but I wouldn't consider them to be jams. One had only one other participant and the other was basically just a company trying to get people to test their Unity plugin for free.
I debated joining a team for this jam, but I wanted to experience the whole process myself at least once. Now that it's over, I can't wait to work with a designer and artist next time and see what we can accomplish!
All the best :)
I love this game! Its simple and fun which makes it a great entry. With some work on the graphics i could see it as a great mobile game
Thanks for submitting this on stream! This was a very good game for your first jam. The idea was unique and fun and it plays very well. I especially liked the sound design with the music changing for a moment after you get hit or die. And using a drill for the scale change sound was really clever.
Great job!
Super fun game!! Simple but enjoyable, gotta admit played it longer than I should HAHAHA love this!!
This is a super fun game, I had a great time playing! Really liked the music too! Great work! 👍
Really fun arcade game!
I got to 970! Have to congratulate you on making a simple, yet fun game, and especially for making this both nice on mobile and PC!
Fun game! It feels a bit like ddr. My highscore is 600 points. Not sure how good that is 😄
Really cool game, difficulty scaling and hectic finger movements were on point! I feel like some quirky UI could really make this game stand out. Other than that really cool, great use of the theme!
Really addictive game! Awesome job! We love the color palette. Awesome take on the theme!
