Cozy little game, the UI is a bit confusing I thought that the animals were running away instead of living in the houses I built
Oh no! My intention was to have them move to the right house after you place it, but because of my wonky coding on my part I couldn't get their positions to line up nicely. I assure you they were very happy.
This was such a short little game but I truly wanted more! It was a lot of fun once I figured it out. Glad I kept trying to figure it out because I ended up enjoying it a lot. The artwork of the little houses was also so stinkin' cute! Great game!!
It's such a cute game! I was a bit surprised to see that houses can float in the air, but I’m guessing that’s just a bug.
That is indeed a bug you are supposed to only be able to place them on the ground or on other houses. I just wasn't able to find the cause and patch it in time.
Thanks for playing
Hey I really liked the puzzle element of this, took some thinking to get all the creatures in their homes!
Pretty satisfying puzzle once you learn the rules! I got confused by the UI at first, I didn't understand why zooming or dezooming didn't have an effect on the house I was holding, and so I wrongfully assumed that their height was fixed. It is also possible to soft-lock once you have placed too many houses and don't have any space left.^^' But I was more cautious at my second attempt, and the experience was a nice memory test and space management challenge!
Thanks for playing. Sorry about the soft-lock. I did add an undo for the last house placed so that peoopel had a small chance to remove incorrect buldings but I know that only goes so far. Thanks so much for the feedback.
Congrats on finishing your game!
My favorite parts are the lovely homes and the animal silhouettes. The animals especially, are very clear about what they are. The UI and color choices are overall very pleasant, too.
I think the controls and gameplay clarity needed more clarity. I felt like I was more guessing than actually making informed decisions. There wasn't any sort of tension as to what I built, like a limited number of places, or penalties for getting the next animal incorrect. The buildings scaling based on your zoom level didn't feel really intuitive, either. Zooming with a held building doesn't scale it, so you need to click the building again, or place it and undo, which didn't feel good, either.
I think there's a very cozy matching game somewhere in here, but that can be hard to find with such a limited timeframe. Still a very pretty entry, and I'm happy to have played it! Keep making games!
Thanks for playing. I definitely wanted to buildings to zoom with you when you held them but I couldn't get it to work reliably so I had to cut that for time. I purposy wanted there to be low tension for the game as origionally it was going to be able matching more complex shaped houses to animals but again time contraints got away from me so I ended up with only 3 shapes of house.
I'm glad you can see the potential and I'm still proud of whatt I managed even though it doesn't fully match up with the inital indended experience. Thanks again.
A great idea for a children's educational game!
Idea is very good but the implementation, Not so much. The place mechanic is weird. the screen is too small. the camera combined with the scaling of the houses is also not that great. I think the idea is there. Some more work might make it better. Nonetheless It's still amazing for its time frame
I get the idea, but the execution really leaves a lot to be desired. Using the initial camera zoom to determine the size is just not great, it would be much, much more natural for the zoom/in out to be for changing the size of the houses instead. Camera panning should be a separate function entirely, I think I get why you go with this design (to add to the confusion?) but it didn't worked for me at all.
Pretty good game! I was confused at first, but I eventually managed to figure it out. Also when you zoom in, it's kinda hard to tell where you're supposed to place it.
Overall had a fun time!
Great art and music! I find this game very relaxing and I like the cut scene transitions! Very cool game, keep it up!
Cute art! At first I didn't know how to make things bigger or smaller, it feels weird scaling the buildings zooming in and out, hehe
Love the idea! However I think the game is a bit backwards if that makes sense? Right now you learn what size the houses are for each animal and place them so that becomes trivial. It would be interesting if you had to build the houses out of parts to make them the right size, and could scale the building blocks like you do houses.
Great work!
Thanks for playing.
The original concept was to have the animals be certain shapes (so a giraffe would be a box with a tall tub coming off it) and you would have to place house pieces to make the right shape at the right scale. Unfortunately with timeconstraints etc I had to simplify the idea a lot to just zooming in and out and only having 3 shapes of house to choose from.
cool construction game!
Cute game, but not a lot of direction or guidance when it comes to actually playing. the controls were a bit finicky as well, but overall a good experience.
It's cute and chill game, I played several rounds however without hint it is almost impossible. The animals could have some size indication in the line and the ability to move the placed houses would be nice too. But good job!
Thanks so much for playing. A lot of people hav said thee hint was very needed. The original intention was for the animals to come onto the screen and ask for houses so you would have to zoom to the correct level to talk to them, and once you placed the correct house they would move into it. Unfortunately that was way out of scope for the tim limit so I had to reduce the comlexity down a lot.
I quite liked not having the ability to move the houses as it means people have to use the space well but I did include the undo button so you can adjust some things.
I appreciate the feedback thank you.
Very cute idea. However, I could also not get it. The animals show no scale indication of what house they need. Plus I’m not sure houses are supposed to be flying.
Thanks for playing. I tried to make the pictures obvious about which ones are long and tall plus the animals themselves show the scale (elephant is large, centipede is tiny). I wanted to include a proper tutorial but unfortunately I ran out of time. I knew people might struggle with this aspect so I did add a hint that can be shown from the tutorial screen to make it more clear.
Th floatig houses is a know bug and again I sadly ran out of time to fix it.
I'm glad you likd the concept even if it was not clear about the mechanics.
It's a very creative concept. I don't think im supposed to be able to build flying houses though lol
Yeah you are supposed to only be able to place them on the ground or on top of other houses. My friend found that glitch when he was testing it but I wasn't able to get it fixed in time. Still, it allows for for cool pictures haha.
Aww I want to give every animal a home! Once I realized that you could place new homes on top of old ones I was able to make some dense housing!
What a sweet game! Nice, almost nostalgic art style too. Congrats on completing the jam and a neat project.
