How does your game fit the theme?
Our game fits the theme because the player scales to fit size; and also you are "scaling" up the mountain

rank 101 on enjoyment well done you guys!!! this game has stuck in my mind ever since playing it
Thanks dude!
Thank you. I honestly didn't think this would happen. We never worked together prior and that this all ended up happening and working out so well is still a miracle to me.
yippee
I'm not a fan of this type of game, but it was fun! I liked the animation where the characters changed in size. Thanks for the warning that the game might lag in the browser and for the key controls, it made playing easier.
Its quite the compliment that you had fun even when you are normally not a fan of this type of game. Thank you very much for playing!
YAAAY! There's been a lot of these but this one did pretty well, while I started the levels a bit overwhelmed especially later in the game, but the puzzles were actually quite balanced in difficulty and it was challenging for me but I never really got stuck or frustrated.
Visually, there were moments when the smaller crystals blended in with the background sprites but otherwise it was a cute art style with great cohesiveness.
Only big thing that stood out to me as a dislike was the selection of sound effects. Probably a personal taste thing, but I really didn't like hearing the sounds that play when I scaled up and down.
Awesome game! It's very well polished, the player character was pretty cute, keeping your vertical momentum when jumping was a neat mechanic, and the puzzles were fun!
The only complaint I have is that my curiosity for secrets drove me to fall off the map after reaching the summit after jumping over the trophy. Maybe put an invisible wall there 😅
Already fixed that for the post jam version. Thanks for playing it.
Really enjoying game, finished it in a single run, clever puzzle solutions
Very cool concept and style!
Very cool concept and style!
Yo here from the discord server, leaving comments here so you got all in one place:
As other mentioned yeah, could use some more clarity on the tooltips for controls but also I think it was fun to do some player discovery myself.
Aside from that, and this is a note for improvements giving the time contrains of a jam, I would love some planning on tilesets to be able to identify faster my size to where I can sneak through ratio. Just some corner work with some coding (communicational, not programmatical) that allows me to see faster which direction I should be using my sizes to solve the level.
On the positive side the passing through mid jump/falling to scale to destiny was VERY well managed, gave me a sense of challenge and satisfaction worth of keeping playing a few levels more! Me thinks it's here where you got the meat of your design, where is more focused on player agency rather than designer assumption.
GOOD JOB TEAM!
I love your game 5/5 experience
my game isn't not that great :(
yoru game is infinitely better than anything I could ever make
As other commenters have said, the execution of this game puts it above a lot of the other character rescaling platformers we've seen this jam. Well done.
One nitpick. Sometimes my sizr changes involuntarily upon colision with a crystal. I don't know if that's meant to happen.
colliding with the crystals is what triggers the change
Hey, as Neyy already mentioned, touching the crystals is triggering the size changes respectfully. They also all have a set size that they scake you to, are scaled to that size itself and emit an hologram of the size you are about to get. Do you have any feedback on how we could make this clearer? What would have helped you to understand it?
Wow, this one was a really good execution of one of the more common concepts! I found myself surprised with every level. The puzzles are great, the SFXs are dynamic, graphics are well fitting, overall awesome job!
Thank you a lot.
I really like how the jumping feels when your big! And for me, what makes your game stand out among other size-change-platformers is that the camera zooms in/out when you change size so that's a nice touch. Also its fun to see the key fly out to the blocks to break them open lol
The key flying is my favorite thing coupled with the doppler effect. Its so addictive seeing all the keys fly and make these funny noises. Im happy that you noticed all these little things that our programmer put into the game :D
Very nice game! only feedback is to change the background a bit (basically just art) cuz every level except the first feels the same. would be nice if there were different thematic parts of the muntain (i understand that it was only 4 days, just saying incase u continue working on it)
also i only did like 7 levels so maybe u do have more and i just didnt see it, in that case mb
level design and puzzles are spot on tho!
oh I had so many plans for background elements to make the levels more unique, perhaps I'll add some more on the post jam version
Rock solid platformer, I'm always a sucker for floaty ass jumps and they feel great with the player scaling - which is a rock solid mechanic, higher jumps on larger sizes make the puzzle goals clear
That said, I think I didn't find myself engaging with the scaling mechanic that much beyond finding secrets - When engaging with the main puzzles I found myself only worrying about which switches were toggled, the scale crystals felt like a means to get from point A to point B. I think more emphasis on the scaling would've been great to see, but beyond that, this is a fun game.
I was going to write a comment, but this comment says exactly what I wanted to say. I think this game also struggles with a similar problem to our game, that it was hard to make other mechanics that interacted well with the rescaling mechanic, and so the level design gets a bit stale once you figure that out. Despite that, I really like the game, and how tight the level design was.
Really fun all the way to the end! The puzzles were quite clever, especially when using the way jump height changes with the different scales (something I hadn't seen yet in other big/small scaling platformers) and I really like the ones where you'd wraparound the level. The silhouetting when you'd get close were really helpful to make the sizes clear. Great visuals, music, and sound too.
Pretty neat game! I love many things about it, how it uses scale in both senses of the word, visuals are nice, and mechanics are very clear. Going through puzzles is very smooth though it's not that challenging, for most of the time the next step is very clear so it's just more about seeing things unfold instead of figuring them out. I was able to reach a spot on the first level where I could see the whole level at the same time, as well as exit the stage on the last level by jumping past the trophy (love the trophy.png btw) and reacherd the world borders, both of those I consider a nice experience, I love the feeling of going where I'm not supposed to :3 but hell yeah! had a nice time with it!
Nice, you found a couple of the easter eggs in this case. I tried to strike a certain balance with the level and puzzle design to not have it to be too difficult for a jam game. The goal was to have a certain bit of complexity that slowly ramps up but that is still manageable for a player.
Very well designed little puzzler making full use of the scale mechanic. Cuite visuals, nice music and smooth controls. Loved that the crystals change colors depending on wether or not they will make you smaller or bigger, really made the game a lot more readable than if it weren't the case. Great erntry!
Thank you very much.
This is a very well designed game, ticks out all the boxes for me : Mechanics, level design, sound effects (changing sounds based on size), jumping and changing sizes mid air. Had so much fun playing it. A refresher after a day's long work !! Thanks for making this
really polished game, the art looks fantastic, the mechanics are working well, another thing that i like is the camera and the animations, the keys moving around, the scale up or down animations everything looks good
Really nice platformer, the controls were zippy and floaty, reminded me of some of the more puzzley levels of something like vvvvvv or celeste. Only thing is level design ended up being a lot of back and forth, but still pretty satisfying
You may or may not have found one of my all time favorite platformers and inspiration for the wrap around mechanic with VVVVVV and in particular The Warp Zone.
