Fun game and great take on the theme!

Developer

Thanks!

Fun game, it could do with some music and more levels but what's there so far is super tight and polished!

Developer

I'm glad you enjoyed it :)

Neat little golf game. I definitely would have liked to see some more puzzles and as others have said the controls were a bit confusing at first. I also encountered a bug where the ball seemed to enter two portals almost at the same time leading to two balls existing at once. The concept is great and has a lot of potential so I would love to see this expanded upon.

Developer

Strange, I thought I fixed that bug, I guess not, the portals are quite buggy but I learnt a lot from making them. Thanks for trying out my game!

A fun game with a neat portal and scaling mechanic

The biggest barrier is getting started. I think more could be done to communicate to the player how and where portals can be placed. Once I figured that out though, I had a good time. Mini golf games are always satisfying.

I'm mindful this was a 48hr delivery and and think you crushed it given that time limitation!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback :)

I like the simple art style, some goofy background music could work wonders here. The clapping sounds when you clear a stage are a cool touch, though.

Good job on the grass moving when the ball passes over it, I love these tiny details!

I had to full screen in order to see the whole game, at first I was just seeing the mouse right click help, but something green spawning above (it was just a corner from the portal animation), Maybe you can change the Itch page to accomodate the entire screen?

Some feedback on the levels I got:

  • I didn't understand at first why couldn't I hit the ball.
  • The second level would only let me pass through if I created the first portal at the left, took me a few tries.
  • At the third level the ball managed to clip through the stage and disappear, it was only then that I understood the idea of scale/portal entrance (lol I'm an idiot!).

It would also be nice to be able to hit the ball while it's still moving.

Played through 4 levels. Overall an interesting idea for a puzzle game! Congratulations!

Developer

This feedback is really useful, so thank you for taking the time to give me it, and thanks for trying my game :)

I was confused as everyone else at first, but after reading the comments and realized how this worked, and this was pretty fun! :) I guess portal placement could be made simpler, but the concept is pretty cool, nice job! :)

Developer

Thanks for playing! I agree, maybe I could of had a ghost portal to show where the portal is going to be placed. Anyway, thanks for the feedback and comment :)

Took a second to figure it out but as soon as I did... WOW! Well done! Ui could use a bit of work since its not always  what type of portal your about to shoot but this is just nit picking. Great job, going to come back and 100% this later.

Thanks for playing my game, I'll check yours out as well.

I couldn't figure out how to hit the ball.

Developer

Sorry, you hit the ball with left click, only once you placed the portals, which you placed with right click

I also had loads of trouble figuring out how to play, but finally beat the game :)

For anyone else wondering - you have to first place the portals with RMB by aiming them at the gray walls, only after you have 2 portals you can start pushing the ball with LMB. There are always 2 portals of the same color - one is shrinking you down, one is making you bigger, depends which one you enter. Enjoy!

Developer

Thanks for playing my game, Im glad you managed to fully understand it in the end, also thanks for the explination, since the game is very difficult to understand what to do, this might be useful for people playing so:

Read this comment if you dont understand the game

thanks again!

At first I didn't understand that you had a tiny portal and a big portal, but with trial and error I find out and ended the game! It's a good premise

Nice puzzles and mechanics. I would echo other comments that the tutorial was a bit confusing, but very much enjoyed the game after figuring out the controls.

Developer (1 edit)

Yeah, I see how the tutorial was difficult to understand. Thanks for looking past that and enjoying the game anyway

This is a really fun game. I found the controls and the tutorial confusing but when I had worked out the controls, solving the golf puzzles is very exciting! Great work.

Developer

I can see how the tutorial could be hard to understand, Ill try and fix it once the game jams over. Im really glad you enjoyed the puzzles though, thanks for commenting and rating :)

i really liked the art style looks super cozy (っ- ‸ - ς)
was really confused on the start though, but once i figured out u need to make 2 portals everything went smoothly

Developer(+1)

Thanks! I agree, I should of had something to suggest you have to place all portals before you can play, to prevent players from getting stuck. Im happy that you didnt have any problems and enjoyed the game, thank you for rating and commenting!

great idea! Simple yet effective artstyle that doesnt overcrowd. Love the puzzles, they have a good scaling in difficulty! really well done :D

Developer

Thank you!

It took me a hot minute to figure out how to use the controls with both the ball and portals, but once I figured that part out I had a blast playing the game.  I grew up playing Sierra's 3-D minigolf that had some weird level designs and the concept of the portals making the ball bigger and smaller really took me back to that game.  If I had to suggest anything it would be clearer instructions for goons like me who struggle so much! Also, maybe a bit of music cause I loved the sound effects you chose!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback,Im glad you enjoyed playing it :) I recorded the sound effects with Audacity so Im happy that you liked them! Ill try add some music once the jam ends. Thank you for your comment.

This is an amazing idea, the simplicity in art and gameplay gives it a nice feel while having decently complicated puzzles while also clearly still having crazy potential, my only issue was a few glitches like my ball coming out the wrong side of the portal and no clipping thru walls and out of camera view, and occainsonal shading errors most of these can be easily overlooked. The only suggestion id have would have been to make the small ball a little easier to see(contrasting collars, harsher outline etc.).

Really good job :), u should be very proud

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! I agree, the smal ball is difficult to see, but thanks for the praise, Im glad you enjoyed playing it!
