Long live the shadeslugs.

Liked the puzzles, some of the card interactions changed, really think that the rule set should stay the same so I can understand it. Less lead to some frustrations at times.

Some of them I solved by moving my slug during moves which felt cheaty but fun at the same time.

Really enjoyed the puzzles and the art is nice and the feel of the game is polished.

Great job and nice entry!

Developer

Thanks! I'm not sure what you mean by the cards changing though, their effect stays the same throughout the game!

Sorry what I meant was that the cards can't always be used on the same Glorbs:

Like here I cant make the red bigger with the blue card  - but in other puzzles I could

Developer(+1)

Ah yeah I added in that "safeguard" so that you can't expand red Glorbs who are close to the ground because sometimes that caused them to glitch with the physics... Definitely not the best solution but couldn't come up with anything better in a short enough time

That makes sense!

Cute idea, the glass block really shows the potential of the game!

Don't you hate when you're playing a puzzle game and then you accidentally killed the sun?

I liked the presentation, very clean and very cute. However, as a puzzle game the mechanics were a bit unclear. It's hard to visually what will happen when you apply the effects of a card to a Glorb (what is that name), and the physics interaction between Glorbs are also a bit counter-intuitive at times, so pretty much the only way to see the result of an action is trial and error, which is fine but really not ideal compared to being able to visualize the puzzle in your head and "click" everything together.

Developer

Yeah there's definitely some unpredictability because of the weird physics issues, I tried to help with the visualisation thing with the selection indicators but it's definitely not perfect...

Epic idea. very cool game.

I didn't play all the way through, but very cool game!

The idea is really unique and engaging. Game is also well polished visually. This could easily expand into a full fledged game, so fits even better with "Built to Scale"

Fun concept that I wish had more time to explore/expand on (or scale up?). Really appreciate the story elements added in, especially the ending!

Fun little puzzle game! Would be nice if the reset was a bit faster and would have loved if there more block interactions to the game (like moving red blocks into explode blocks would explode them which could cause chain reactions). Overall the  the visuals were great and the gameplay was easy to pick up.  Great work!

Developer

Thanks! And I agree it would be cool if I added more interactions and stuff but the game is already super unstable behind the scene so adding even more physics stuff would be a nightmare xD

Fun game and interesting ideas!

Really cool and intersting puzzle game! i think with more time you could have added levels between the apparition of a new mechanic, so the player can be sure to really understand the previous mechanic. otherwise, the pixel art is nice, i especially love the color palette you used!

i just love how cute the shadowslugs are

Submitted(+1)

This is such a good game! Creative, fun, and really well polished!

A really creative idea and I love how the story made it all come together. Felt like the movement of the globs were a bit unpredictive at times and there were many levels I could pass with an extra card, but I liked the forgiveness on touching the sun at the same time. The art is super cute too and the small detail that the whole screen gets "selected" when playing the shadow card is such a nice touch, makes me feel truly evil.

Developer

Haha, thanks! And yep you have no idea just how unpredictable the Glorbs physics are, I had quite a few headaches with weird physics bugs when designing puzzles lol

The globs work in mysterious ways

Epic game love the retro style

Awesome game! With simple concepts it builds up a really well thought game. I would love to see it become a full game.

LONG LIVE THE SHADOWSLUGS! really cute game, obviously really well thought out! I think it could benefit by the Glorbs being more grid- based given their shape, as of now sometimes the movement just barely doesn't line up and your plan fails by a tiny little sliver which is a bit frustrating. Really great game though, the art is fantastic, the sounds are juicy and it has some great humor too without being too In-your-face about it.

Really good work :D

Developer

Thanks! And yeah if I were to remake the game I'd definitely make it tile-based and not physics-based, it would save lots of headaches :D

Submitted(+1)

The game is really smooth and beautiful. Cute game!

really well made little puzzle game, i could easily see it expanding into a larger project but what's already here is really great for such a short jam. lots of little bits of polish too. i really like when the x card is introduced there's no tutorial since it's all you can do and the effect is obvious. good job overall!

Developer(+1)

Yeah, I tried making the tutorial minimal, especially when there's also the hints system, thanks for playing!

Aww! This is such a cute game! Props to you guys for the aesthetic itch page as well, its really nice to type in such a cute font :) I thought the puzzles were at just the right difficulty and it was overall a really enjoyable experience to play :D good job team!!

Submitted(+1)

This was great! you included a lot of different mechanics really quickly, you could probably make more puzzles with each before introducing a new one and have a full blown steam game it was that polished!

Developer

Thanks a lot! And yeah I could probably fit in some more puzzles but I suck at puzzle design xD

Submitted(+1)

I wouldn't say that, you've made some good puzzles in just 4 days, imagine what you'd have if gave yourself a month or a year
