I found this difficult to play. Not usually good at these style of games mind. Good mechanics and particle effects.

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks for the feedback! Difficulty could certainly have been more balanced.

Aside from the fact that I suck at controlling the ship, this game is awesome! It feels pretty robust and complete.

Upgrading mechanism was great and exciting, I wish I was a bit better at steering my ship! lol

Developer(+1)

Glad you liked it, the controls could definitely be more intuitive. Thanks for playing!

Great game! The fact that upgrade my ship also makes it easier for asteroids to hit me is AWESOME! That sort of dynamic difficulty shows you know what you're doing. Loved it!

Developer

Thanks a lot for playing and reviewing our game!

The size increase does make it harder to dodge, but also unlocks damage-reducing health-regenerating armor, so I feel its a good trade-off.

Glad you enjoyed!

Really polished and great experience, although I did not really understand the healing at first and thought that I could just boost through the small meteorites without damage. Quite a hard game, but enjoyable none the less.

Developer

Thanks for playing! The healing could definitely have been more intuitive.

I ultimately have ragequit from the game after dying a ridiculous amount of times, but it was quite fun! My only complain is that if we die we lose *all* of our progress (we can't resume on the previous ship level for example) and that there wasn't anything to warn me that by upgrading my ship I'll lose all the current parts. Otherwise it's quite a good entry!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing.

Sorry about the difficulty, it's takes time to balance which we wished we had. It would take even more time to save the previous ship level when restarting, but those are definitely good ideas for the future versions of the game to make it more engaging!

Glad you still liked the game still, and we appreciate the feedback!

The polish duuude! This is what we were trying to go with. But we ended up with just the survival no action.

Developer

Thanks for playing!

Wow, the level of quality is impressive ! Everything is very well done, well done !

the game is just a bit difficult at first

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing and reviewing!

We agree, the difficulty needs a lot of work, more time should have been dedicated to playtesting / balancing.

Appreciate the feedback!

A really great experience! Loving the polish on this one, especially the game loop too!

Developer

Thanks for playing. The polish took a lot of work, so we're glad it paid off!

Nice idea. I find it strange that when you have rocket boosters they are automatically on, and then boost more when you move forward, it made the movement slightly harder to control, but overall good job!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thanks for playing and providing feedback!

The ship moves constantly to encourage action and dodging, but that could be changed when we work on the game in the future to give the player more control.

Nice work, the gameplay with fully customisable ship is fun.

I found a bug, if you equip only missiles on T2 ship you cant move but enemies cant hurt you anymore, so you can just let the game run and let the score increase :)

Developer

Thanks for the review, glad you enjoyed!

That's an odd bug, maybe collisions don't work with missiles. As for not being able to move, that's likely due to the lack of rocket thruster.

Thanks for playing and providing feedback!

Nice work! This one is really well polished. The art and visuals look so great and once ai started to get the hang of the gameplay it really hooked me in.

Believe it or not though I was kind of nervous to upgrade my ship at times because I felt like it would make me a bigger target hehe :-D.

Really fun gameplay. Great job on this!

Developer

Glad you enjoyed the game!

As for you becoming a bigger target, it's balanced since you can buy "armor enhancers" which provide damage reduction and health regeneration, so a bigger ship is, in-fact, better 😊

Thanks for playing and providing feedback!

Quite neat, though the controls and balancing are a bit off. I think it'd be better if I could move with just WASD then aim only the turrets with the mouse, having the ship pivot wildly wherever I'm trying to aim means constantly flinging into rocks and being hit by things I couldn't see coming. It also feels a bit strange that after you get homing rockets and upgrade them, you're practically an unstoppable death machine. Maybe some slower pacing and more methodical gameplay would help ease both problems, but overall, incredibly cool concept, still quite fun to blast through a ton of space rocks, super polished, and it scratches the Spore cell stage itch in my brain.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! Glad you liked the game feel and polish.

Balancing is definitely the largest issue with the current state of the game, but we certainly would have needed more time to get everything right.

The ship constantly moving was a design choice made to encourage action and dodging but it may not have been necessary.  The solution to the lasers always pointing in the direction of movement  would be solved by rotating them to face other directions. I agree with your feedback that we need a smoother difficulty curve  and a variety in challenge.

We really appreciate the detailed review, thanks for playing !!

Very nice how to build starship and fight

Developer

Thanks!

Really well made game; it was really smoothly put together! It felt oddly satisfying to have and array of laser modules blasting through asteroids. I enjoyed it immensely :)

The art was really cool, and once I got the hang of it, the game became kind of addictive. I wish I had more time to spend playing it!

Developer

Glad to hear you enjoyed it! The goal was to leave players wanting more with this gameplay loop. Thanks for reviewing!

Took me a while to figure out that there's a shop to ugprade your ship ;) First ship upgrade lost me all my canons (which was probably intended?). Nice game, has a good feel to it and it's easy to lose track of time while playing.

Developer(+1)

Glad you enjoyed the experience!

I agree that the shop could have been clearer and more intuitive.

The upgrades clearing the existing ship was a decision made to simplify development for the sake of time, but we definitely would have thought of a better way to handle it given more time.

Thanks for reviewing the game and providing feedback!

Submitted(+1)

At first I didn't figure out how to upgrade the ship, I got like 300 upgrade points with the base ship ^^'

Once I understood how to open the shop the game was really engaging, it reminds me of Captain Forever Remix.

I would suggest to put the shop menu in the pause screen (so esc opens the shop and also pauses the game?) or to put a big popup explaining how the shop works the first time you get enough upgrade points to expand your ship.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing and reviewing! Getting 300 points with no upgrades is very impressive, most of us would struggle with that feat. Glad you found the shop and enjoyed it, it could definitely have been clearer in the UI, and we would have made it more noticeable with more time.

Appreciate the helpful feedback!

Submitted(+1)

How did you maanged to do a UI like this, i'm soooo bad at UI, this one is so chill to use and easy to understand, damn good job !!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the kind words! It took a lot of work to get right, so we're glad you found it intuitive.

Submitted(+1)

Your worked paid off !! Congrats !

Cool little box stacking space shooter game!

Thanks!

This is a fantastic game, my favorite so far in the jam. I think it's mechanically really sound with good core gameplay loop that's actually interesting to play around with. The game is a bit too hard maybe, but it's difficult to hit that balancing sweet spot in such a short time frame in a game jam.

Developer

Im glad you liked the gameplay loop and mechanics. The difficulty is the biggest area of improvement which could have been better if we had more time, as you said. Thanks for playing and reviewing!

Submitted(+1)

Very cool polished game with good sound effects and nice UI and generally good visuals! I might have found some peculiar bug. After first upgrade, my whole ship disappeared and got replaced with one block with eight spaces to build modules, but only two missile modules appeared without any thruster options and I've become totally invulnerable. After retry I was able to use thruster module and it was okay, but on third replay bug showed up again. I think you should always give player one free thruster to avoid this bug. Other than that, game is very well done and is certainly up there with quality. Good work.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! the bug you mentioned is a weird one, haven't seen anything like it before. Definitely some more playtesting could have helped with that. Thanks for playing!
