Very interesting physics, congrats! extremely creative idea for this jam. I feel like we started with similar ideas in mind because I also used gravity in our game, but you took it in a very interesting direction. the warped grid idea btw? *chef s kiss* !! so jealous!!

Developer

Glad you enjoyed it mate, thanks!

As a physics nerd, I really loved this wow. Varying object gravity with size and using that to change trajectories? Genius!

Developer(+1)

Glad you liked it, thanks a lot!

im not a windows guy sorry

Developer

Sorry you couldn't play, thanks for checking it out anyway!

Submitted

ill build it to other platforms for you if you want

I felt my brain expand while playing this. Haha, loved it, really cool idea and very satisfying to solve the puzzles. I gave up on the very last level but I beat all the rest. I think it'd be neat if in more advanced levels you had the ability to switch which star you're manipulating manually somehow, but that's really the only criticism I have. Really cool game.

Developer(+1)

To be honest I think that planet selection using the left stick/wasd should be a feature in the whole game, it would simplify the code a lot and give the player significantly more control. Thanks a lot!

Really enjoyed your game! The idea of controlling an object only using the size of another object is really novel. It also has a really great style and sound direction.

Only critiques I have are that the camera controls are sometimes unresponsive and the restart button (enter?) didn't seem to work for me. So I ended up skipping levels and having to restart the game to try them again. Seems like normal game jam issues to me.

Congrats on a great submission! The team really has something to be proud of here.

Developer

Restart was on backspace! Our art guy left for GamesCom before we submitted and it was just us two programmers left, we probably made a bad prompt haha sorry about that. And yes the camera is a common issue, need more time to tune. Thanks for the feedback.

I like the look and sound of the game! The warped grid is a very useful way to convey how gravity is affected at a glance. Overall, nice and interesting take on using gravity as a mechanic; seems to be a common theme! ;)

Developer

A fine theme indeed! Thanks!

Looks great, movements feels very fluid and the audio fits wonderfully! Overall just feels very polished, well done! :D

Developer

Thanks a lot!

The stylization is top notch on this game. The levels were good as well. I would agree with some comment on the camera and freeze before jumping into action, so we can make a better plan. Overall, this is a very well-made game

Developer

Thanks so much! Yeah the camera freeze is a piece of polish we really wish we had got into the game before time ran out, lesson learned eh.

I think this one is my favorite game so far! The sound the gameplay all great
I only really do not like the camera controls. it very frustrating to have it swatch from top down to third person all the time.

Developer (1 edit)

Yeah, allowing the player to take control when they want and potentially freezing time before the game starts is something we wish we'd gotten into the game first. Thanks a lot for playing!

I really like this. The controls are pretty intuitive, the puzzles all feel unique, and the visuals and audio is very pretty. The difficulty curve felt mostly right. I liked how there were a few later puzzles that were pretty easy, as they served as a nice break from the more challenging puzzles.

Starting the levels in the behind-asteroid camera instead of the top-down camera gave the levels a more cinematic feel, which I think is important, but it also made the first few second of each level feel a lot harder and more stressful than I think they needed to be. Maybe if you started the asteroid further back, and didn't let the player control anything until the asteroid got to its original starting point, you could keep the best of both worlds.

Similarly switching to the behind-asteroid camera when the asteroid started going out of bounds felt kind of annoying, as often the asteroid wasn't beyond saving yet at that point. Taking the camera out of the player's control makes sense if the player has already lost, but I'd rather the camera remain under my control right up until that point.

Other than a few gripes with the camera, this game was pretty damn good. Well done.

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot for all the feedback! We agree with you completely on the camera. We have a rather brute force solution for camera selection at the moment, and as it removes control/view from the player, this is inadequate. I think our lesson is that if were going to take away control/vision we need it to either be for a gameplay reason, or tread very carefully. Cheers for playing!

Really like how you have the "spacetime fabric" thing going, but it did feel kinda strange that black holes had such a small radius of affect lol

Also, I wish I had more time to look at the whole puzzle before I suddenly had to make choices - it made solving things a little stressful, and then I had to wait through a whole cutscene to get back to where I was

Developer(+1)

We've been thinking a "press a to start" on a frozen top-down version of the level would go a long way to improving it. Thanks a lot for the feedback.

Really cool mechanic manipulating the gravity of meteors! My main issue was with the camera starting of from a view I felt did not benefit me much and wouldn't switch view when I press the button. But the graph and visuals worked well for how simple they are at communicating the strength of my gravitational pull.

Developer

Thanks a lot!

Very unique idea,  love how it plays with the theme and scale on such a massive... scale! Didn't exactly *enjoy* myself but I was intrigued the whole time. Almost beat the two star level but then the camera starting bugging out and I couldn't see what I was doing.

Had a lot of issues with the controls. Constantly fighting the camera. Tried kbm and controller but both were awkward in their own way.

Really great idea and execution of the core idea, I just with that I could interface with it better.

Developer(+1)

We didn't spend enough time with the controls, as is becoming evident from the feedback. To us they were fine, but obviously, we had been playing the game non stop for 4 days. Needed playtests from people unfamiliar, like now! Thanks a lot!

Extremely unique idea, I love the concept. Some of the mechanics were a little difficult to understand in terms of keybinds, but not hindering enough not to enjoy or understand the game. Very good job!

Developer

Thanks very much!

The game looks amazing and the idea is executed very good!

Really loved the take on this concept! The change in perspective was really cool and the mechanic was creative and impressive, I enjoyed this interpretation of the theme :) I was a bit confused by the controls and the motion of the asteroid, I understood level 1 but then the leap to level 2 felt a bit much, I just needed more time with the controls I think :) Great job

Developer(+1)

We built the whole game on controller and then rushed the keyboard controls at the end, big mistake. We even removed camera control, which was on wasd, and didn't rebind things over there, which would have been so much better. Thanks a lot for the feedback!

interesting take on the concept

Developer

Thanks!

this is such a creative idea and i did enjoy playing it, but i got stuck in the level with 2 suns, 1 planet and a laser lol cause i found it hard to get used to the controls. good game though

Thanks a lot!
