I really like this concept, but I wish there was a BIT more time to actually slice the dice. Maybe it's because I'm not a Fruit Ninja wizard, but switching the die and then slicing them in the air felt a bit too cumbersome without the slow-down time and just the mouse. Maybe there would be a way to play this with keyboard as well? Like 1 and 2 switch the respective die and you slice ONLY with the mouse. That way the decisions could be split. Anyways, I thought this was really creative and a really fun way to handle the theme! Good stuff :)
Thanks - glad you had fun with it.
The split keyboard/mouse controls is a good idea. Initially I had RMB as dice switching; but that was a nightmare on trackpads so I switched.
I really loved this game' idea. It was very fun. Good job!
by the way could you play and rate my game?
Thanks - glad you had fun.
Consider it done.
A very creative take on the theme! It's a very simple premise but works well, and the simple presentation is effective. The online leader board is another awesome touch, it would have been awesome to have a larger arcade style one but it's understandable given the time limit.
Unfortunately despite playing a fair while I can't really say I enjoyed it all that much. From the tutorial graphics I assumed there would be greater visual feedback on cutting, and the shards of dice felt like they didn't register a lot of the time.
The dice time being a time limit is also a neat idea, but I think it encourages a safe, boring playstyle. I didn't feel motivated to go for big scores because I knew I'd eat up a lot of my time getting close to them, and I would still likely come out the other side gaining zero points. In contrast, small scores are easily achievable with little to no dice time used up at all. The best way to get points is to just sit and wait and ignore the fun parts of the game, which is a massive shame, and fatal to the overall enjoyment.
Overall, it's a very solid game with just a few things holding it back from a top score, so please take my comment with a grain of salt! The fact that optimising the fun out of the game is the only major problem just goes to show the depth of the mechanics. I'd love to return to this with a few tweaks post jam, it has the potential to be an amazing game that would fit perfectly on moblie :) good work!
Thanks - I’m glad you liked it, and thanks for the detailed feedback :)
Super interesting that it motivated you to going for lots of small scores. I actually realised, playing after the jam-lock, that the best strategy would be to ignore all the small numbers and only engage if it’s 6 figures; as there’s no penalty for a missed round and 6 figure scores are the only thing that can get you a high-score; which is also less fun, really :P
So yeah, needs some balancing in both directions :D
Amazing game! Fun concept and mechanics... Not much feedback to give! Excellent work!
Thanks :D
Suuper fun and addicting game !! I found myself playing this one for a while and a well polished game too :)) Good stuff overall :D
Thanks - glad you had fun with it :D
Wow! I love this game! And I love that you found time to add in a global high score. That's super cool! Great job!
Thanks for that :D
Woah, this game is super cool! The slicing is very satisfying and smooth, and the music is so relaxing. The game feels very soothing overall and overall feels very nice to play. I think perhaps changing the reroll button to RMB instead would be better since sometimes I'd be trying to change the die and instead end up slicing it by accident. Overall though I had so much fun playing. Great job!
Thanks - glad you liked it :)
I actually did all my testing with the RMB as you said; and then did a last minute switch because it was impossible on my “two-fingers-to-rmb” laptop. Totally agree though, something separate is better.
Really liked execution! Simple and clever idea at the same time!
Thanks :)
I had fun for a shot experience with this. Good arcade/mobile style fun. I think a cut trail would have been nice just to visually get feedback on how I was cutting.
Thanks :)
Yeah, that’s a good shout for the trail.
This is a neat engaing and challenging game which has nice polish and fun mechanics, only issues were some levels were impossible but apart from that great game!E
Thanks :)
Very fun & challenging, it forces me to response & think quick on the spot, unfortunately I couldn't find my zen state haha, but I'll keep trying.
Simple & effective presentation too, excellent job!
Thanks :D
I’m not sure I guarantee zen states :P
Great game! Like fruit ninja with dice.
Thanks :)
Ironically I haven’t played fruit ninja :D
Very cool concept, I have not much to say. I feel like maybe cutting is not perfect but hey, its good enough and this is just me looking for issues in a 48h game. Awesome job
Thanks - glad you had fun with it!
Very creative concept, simple presentation, and satisfying gameplay.
Thanks :D
Metal Gear Rising but it's zen. Simple, clever concept executed cleanly. I know I just called it zen but it could also be very intense trying to cut up some of the numbers just right, just in time. Must have been a nightmare to code. Great work.
Thanks :)
Glad you liked it - and found some intense zen :D
As for the code, the less said about that the better; it’s 90% gaffa tape- even I’m surprised when it works :D
This game is very clever. Honesty I'm really curious how you code this kind of thing. Presentation is simple and clean. I sort of wish it was always just slowed down because I can't count and or think fast enough at all. Super great game!
Thanks - I’m glad you liked it :)
48 hours brings out the cowboy-coder in me, but for what it’s worth the code is here: https://github.com/thomasmichaelwallace/unity-games/tree/master/slice-and-dice
nice and calming music, I'm not really great, but slicing dice felt really good and satisfying - good job!
Thanks :)
It is a little tricky (someone’s already beaten my highscore!) - but I’m glad you had some fun with it.
good game! I loved the idea despite having failed a lot in the objective lol I'm not the best dice cutter, but congratulations for your work
if you have a little time, try my game =] I would love your feedback
Thanks - glad you had fun despite the difficulty :D
Wow, what a unique concept - awesome work! The presentation was excellent and I had a lot of fun playing it, probably a jam highlight for me. My only critisicm was that the progression felt a bit random It would've been nice to slowly ramp up to those more complex scores, they were a bit frantic to wrap my head around.
Great entry overall, loved it!
Wow- thanks :D
I know what you mean, I set out with a difficulty curve in mind, but by the time I’d got the mechanic in place I didn’t have much more time for “random”!
This game is sick, I just cant stop playing it, music is nice, sound effect is really fit. First I thought it would be kind of like the ninja fruit game, but actually this game is a lot more fun that ninja fruit. I think this game is really polish too. Everything is simple yet fun. I tried going for the high score and I did got it but I think it come down to how much time you going to use to spend trying to high score in this game. Anyway the game is amazing.
Thanks - I’m glad you had fun with it :D
