SO very charming, you could even say its noteworthy. I would have liked if there was more noticeable changes in pitch and note for the player depending on what weapon and modifier was currently active, it would add just that bit more of musical immersion! The visuals are especially wonderfully composed.

Wow, just wow, how can you compete with that, that just's unfair.
First, the music, it's on another level, I wouldn't be able to create anything similar in a million years.
Next, the art, it just makes sense and fits everything perfectly, it's so full of character.
Last, the game itself, never did I notice anything that I wanted to change, it runs smoothly, pretty sure it's bug free and the gameplay is just intuitive.

Mega Mozart is the final blow, this game just ascended everything else :P

Glad you enjoyed the music! Composing tracks that fit the whole music motif of the game definitely gave me a few headaches especially with the time crunch. However everything turned out a lot better than I ever expected! The Mega Mozart thing was so ridiculous everyone on the team loved and hated the design process. I especially hated and loved my brutal butchering of Mozarts Piano Sonata. Thanks for playing our game!

Great entry! BEAUTIFUL presentation! The core mechanic is a lot of fun too. I'm curious what was your inspiration for what gave different musical notes their respective effects.

Overall, I had lots of fun playing this one. Great work!

Absolutely gorgeous game! The sound design is just amazing too! Had a lot of fun playing! Great job!

I really love the Otamatone based sound effects and how the arena based gameplay was mixed with rolling dice! Good job

For a game with strong musical themes, I was surprised that it was not a rhythm based game. The notes that you fire off feel like they should at least be on time or the same pitch as the background track. It’d be great if the game play fit the theme you went with because the music and presentation are top notch.

48 hours? 3 people?? amazing

This game is amazing!!!

Definitely one of my favorite games this jam. The aesthetics is just perfect. The only criticism I can give is that I would've preferred more movement options, (dash, dodge roll), for this kind of game. Also, giving the player regen instead of a large health bar would be better imo. Other than that, amazing game!

Very cool, kinda laggy, but looks, sounds very fun. shooting feels responsive as well. Loved it!

The style in this game is awesome! From the otomatone notes from the player character to the violin hits and the pretty note explosions, I really digged this! In terms of gameplay, how the randomness was implemented was actually really good, and made it feel that you could get your own favourite “build” from time to time. Loved the game!

Thank you so much! There were a lot of things that might have been a bit risky as it was mostly set for personal preference, however we're super glad everything worked out well for you!

Super fun concept, and great presentation and theming on tying everything to do with music! Amazing job!

the whole theming for this game was really creative and i liked it a lot even if i don't understand music theory and how it translates into the enemies and weapons in the game.

the presentation was really good to, all the enemies looked really animated and expressive (although as others have mentioned, the blur effect is a bit extreme). the music and sound effects were also really nice and i loved how they were incorporated into the game's theme.

i also enjoyed the constantly switching weapons. though i honestly didn't notice a difference for most of the modifiers, maybe they could have been made more extreme. i also found it hard to aim, i think due to the perspective and the really long cursor. maybe it would be better if instead of a cursor, there was a glowing circle on the ground that shows where you're shooting.

but yeah, this was great. you did a fantastic job

Developer

Thank you so much! Yeah, I've definitely learned to make options to either reduce or disable things like the depth of field effect. In regards to the modifiers, we'll definitely follow what you said and try to see what else we can do with them to be more interesting; possibly we tried a bit too hard to keep them true to what they actually do in music lol. Aiming was something that was mostly personal preference, thanks for letting me know and I'll definitely consider more accessibility options for future projects. Thank you again for playing!

Mozart needs to stop spamming healing. Other than that I liked this game a lot.

Developer

Haha I guess Mozart got lucky with his attack rolls. Hopefully that didn't affect your experience too much, thanks for playing!

Presentation was off the charts, I'd love it if you could share the tracks in the game on YT or Soundcloud; it was really great stuff!

Developer

Thanks so much for playing, was an honour and also extremely entertaining for me to watch you play it on stream. My teammate actually just released the soundtrack on Youtube, you can listen to it here!

A shooter based on music theory note values is such a bizarre concept, I love it! It reminds me of some of the wacky guns you can get in Enter the Gungeon. I highly encourage you to explore this idea further, because there's a lot you can do with it, and you've already implemented it in lot of creative ways. Personally, I would love to see a game like this when an adaptive soundtrack, you know, because it's music-themed, but of course that's not realistic for a jam game and the music was pretty great anyhow.

I would've preferred if there was a tutorial that showcased all of the different note values and expressions and what effects they have, it would've made the game more engaging having a further grip on what's going on.

Anyway, very whimsical and very fun, great work!

Haha we wanted to try to stay true to the original dice game inspiration as much as possible but we also strayed a bit from it in order to create something more modern and fun, I'm glad you enjoyed what we came up with! Definitely would've been cool to have an adaptive soundtrack but man possibly only for a post-jam expansion, lol. Showcasing the different notes and modifiers during the tutorial actually is a really good idea; I might try creating something like that after the jam if I still have energy. Thanks so much for playing and the feedback!

Great art and music. Love the little otamatone character and the noises it makes.

Not sure I enjoyed the filter effect with the blurring though. Hurt my eyes a little.

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much for playing! A lot of the post processing effects were set to personal preferences; very sorry about hurting your eyes. I'll definitely remember to add features to adjust or disable these effects in future projects.

Wunderbar

I really enjoyed my time with this. The twinstick shooter genre is very popular, but you made several smart decisions to stand out from that crowd. Well done! The 2.5 perspective made me apprehensive at first, but it works really well and I never felt like my shots missed unfairly. The theme is also really unique. But it's also my one gripe - I'm not musically inclined, so a lot of the notation and translation to gameplay was lost on me. I mostly remembered the enemy types, but the attack effects combined with modifiers were completely lost on me. It might have been nice to have a small reminder text pop up in addition to the name like "-speed, +dmg" or "split attack" when changing attacks/modifiers. But that's really just a nitpick. The game is straight-forward enough that the player can adapt to changes with minimal difficulty.

That aside, the controls feel good, the length is perfect, and the scope is right on the money for a jam game. Well done, team. Easily one of the top games I've played so far.

Keep making cool games!

Developer

Danke! Very happy most of what we intended with design worked out for you. We tried super hard to make sure the game could still be understood by those that aren't so musically inclined; we originally intended for weapons and modifier effects to be "discovered" and learned by the player from experimentation and curiosity, that's definitely something we can play around with and modify in the future (But I also agree brief text popups were probably a good idea). Thanks so much for playing and the great feedback!
