Very interesting concept and nice gameplay!

Submitted(+1)

Fun neat concept. Got a very simplistic play style I think easy enough for anyone to pick up and learn as they play. Good job.

Developer(+1)

Thanks!

Last year's entry was way too complicated, so we really wanted to make something simpler both to understand and pick up

Submitted(+1)

I really liked the idea! Congrats for the submission!

Submitted(+1)

Interesting concept, beautiful graphics, but I didn't really understand how the game works, and the UI also could look a lot better.

Developer

It's a aspect that gets brought up a lot in the comments, rightfully so: the UI is confusing in battle because of a lack of feedback and sound design. We planned on doing some, but unfortunately couldn't get it to work in time.

Thanks for playing!

Submitted(+1)

I think the presentation could be improved with more sfx/vfx, but great game overall!

Developer

Thanks!

I agree it's definitely too static, that's something I'll work on better next time.

Submitted(+1)

Nice art style, but gameplay is wierd. But idea is still good! Very cool work, man! :D

Developer(+1)

I'm guessing by "weird" you meant "confusing"? If so, yes, it lacks a lot of feedback and visual/sound effects, I wish I could have made them fit into the final submission '~'

But thanks a lot! =)

Submitted(+1)

Very good work for 48 hours. Your game some looks like our game, but your game more polished. Respect

Developer

"but your game more polished", he said, with his submission having full graphics, music and a functionning battle system XD

But more seriously, thanks a lot! I'm glad you liked it.
It's always nice to see people work with a similar idea, but very different execution ^^

Submitted(+1)

Maybe I wasn't understanding the mechanics, but the game felt a bit flat to me and I ended up just picking the largest numbers and winning consistently. I also couldn't figure out how to use the forge.

Developer

Unfortunately, the game can be very confusing because of the lack of player feedback...
As for the forge, you need to sell a die to make room for a new one, but again, there's no real indication that you need to do that. '~'

Sorry you couldn't really enjoy it, and thanks for the feedback, I'll work harder on that aspect for next time!

Submitted(+1)

Really impressed by the mechanics. I wish it had music or sound effects but overall you did a great job.

Developer

Thanks!

Sound design is really lacking, indeed, so it will be a high priority for next time.

Submitted(+1)

Visually really good looking, music is really missing when the design is sooo good.

And the game and its mechanic are also really good. Love all the decision the game push me to make and all the strategy it allow me.

Really good game

Developer

Thanks a lot! =D

I'm glad the thing people seem to like the most is the strategy aspect, since we really wanted to make something that was more than just "Select the highest score to win"!

And about sound design, with all the people that told it was lacking, I will make it a higher priority for next time. I really wanted to add some, but unfortunately time didn't agree to that -.-'

But otherwise, I'm glad you liked it!

Submitted(+1)

Awesome visuals, could use some music and sound effects tho.

Mechanics are quite interesting, it often puts you through hard decisions like risking high value dice or having to sacrifice points to destroy powerful dice of the opponent. Also since dice with attacking powers also give you no points, regular die still serve a purpose even late game.

also like how if you hover over a die while it's rolling the info box also rolls with it :D

good game overall.

(a two sided die is NOT a coin, don't let them tell you otherwise)

Developer (1 edit)

It's not that it could use sound design, it's that it really lacks the one we wanted to add! ^^'
Sound design and in-battle feedback are the two biggest problems in my opinion, because it makes the game confusing at first. I'll make them a higher priority for next time.

This is exactly what we wanted to achieve! Powers are importants, but they cost you score. For a power to be viable, it has to make up for what it costs you (for instance, a Poison roll can remove up to 6 Score, which may have been better than your roll for this turn. And if the opponent has a 1, it can even make it negative!), so that victory by score would always be an option, and not just something you do at the beginning and let go of when you have all powers in your inventory.
We also wanted to make the player able to choose an opponent die after a victory, so that total destruction may come at the cost of a powerful die you might have wanted.

... You know, we discovered that "feature" like half an hour before we posted the game. We were so tired it made us laugh for a solid minute, so we decided to keep it XD

Thanks a lot for the feedback! =D

I really enjoy this one. Beautiful presentation. I am missing some sounds but otherwise it's superb!

Developer

Thanks at lot, I'm glad you liked it! ^^

We wanted to add some sound effects, but unfortunately the timing was too short, since we made the battle system a bit too complicated for my coding skills '^'
But for my next jam, this will be an important thing to consider, along with in-game feedback!

Submitted(+1)

there is a lot of content! took me some time to understand how to play. great work!!

Submitted(+1)

Very nice art and idea

Submitted(+1)

i loved the art of the game, but it was missing some audio and feedback in the battles. i would love to see more added to this game, as it was a fun entry that stands out! awesome job

Developer

Thanks a lot!

Initially, there should have been visual and sound effects, but time was unforgiving this week-end -.-'
Player feedback is really lacking during the battles, and it makes them confusing, so that will be higher on my priorities when I'll participate in my next jam.

And for the additionnal content: we had so much more dice, effects and mechanic ideas that didn't make the cut (forge repair for a broken die, looting an opponent's die after a victory so that player have to choose between break a powerful die to secure victory or keep it intact to try and get it, combining powers, etc). We're not sure if we're going to make a V2, but we definitly consider it!

Glad you had fun! =)

Submitted(+1)

The game was really fun once I understood how to play. I wish there was a tutorial in the beginning. (Mine doesn't have a tutorial in the actually game either.) I think that sound effects would have made the game even better. I really liked the unique dice that you could find. Great job!

Developer(+1)

Yes, unfortunatly, I didn't have time for player feedback nor sound effects, event though the interface designer made some in the models.
What I wanted was to make the game so easily readable that it wouldn't need a tutorial, since my last year's entry had waaaaay too much text and explications. But without feedback, the battles are confusing at first. :v

The unique dice were the first thing we though about when the theme was announced, since both the designer and I are huge fan of dice collection! We have created many more than those present in the game, with lots of fun/cool names, effects and descriptions. That was the most fun we had on this project. ^^

Thanks for the feedback, glad you liked it!

Submitted(+1)

Took a little while to get the hang of but this is a really fun game!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

I agree, UI should have been higher on my priorities, the battle system can be a little confusing without anything telling you that what you did... did something!

Thanks for trying it out, and glad you liked!

Submitted(+1)

You received nice comments about the art of the game, but let me add this: mechanics are interesting and quite original! Ok, dice battles are quite traditional, but I really enjoyed how you implemented different type of dice, particularly the fact that you can acquire more and more and that you can, in fact, build your dice deck. Nice job!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

That's true, and yet this is probably the aspect we spent the least amount of time on ^^'

Thanks a lot! We had a lot more ideas for Dice building that couldn't make it in time (more powers/dice, the possibility to repair a broken die at the forge, the possibility to loot an ennemy die after a victory, so that the player might not want to blindly destroy everything, etc), but I'm still happy we could fit in what we got!

Glad you enjoyed! =)

Submitted(+1)

Yes, all those ideas would be a nice add to the game! Surely the forge and the deck building mechanics are the strong point of the game, so you should definitely work on those!

Submitted(+2)

I really like the styling of the game. Great submission

Developer(+1)

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it!

Submitted(+2)

Awesome art and a unique presentation! Great game :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot, glad you liked! ^^

(just a precision about the art: we did not make the gods illustrations)
