How does your game tie into the theme?
The coffee machine is cursed, growing in size, and asking for odd things before requiring a sacrifice at the end.

Awesome immersive experience, thanks for this! My only thoughts for improvement are to have a audio adjustment menu for during the game, not just at the start, and maybe make the beans less low poly. I love how the 3D models are sized just right, you got the realism down! Here’s my gameplay/reaction video: https://youtu.be/PxX-OjUUwb0
Yeah, the beans kind of got away from me into the PS1 era style of low-poly!
So, it does have an in-game menu, but it’s linked to the ‘M’ key. Thinking back on it, I should have had a flag to check whether it was the web version and change it to M then, and kept it ESC for PC exports. Ah well, next time!
Thanks so much for playing!
Great sound design and atmosphere - its really good how it slowly builds. I like all the little touches of things slightly going south like the bone container and phylactery renames.
Thank you so much!
Thanks for playing!
Great little psychological horror game, the music and voice acting are outstanding.
Your reactions were priceless!
Thanks so much for playing!
This game triggered all the Nopes I had in me.
To understand the coffee, one must become the coffee.
Thanks so much for playing!
OH MY WORD. If you're reading this before playing Morning Coffee, remember these 3 things:
1. if you mix red and green, you get yellow
2. if you're having trouble, just quit
3. PLAY TO END OF THE **** GAME.
Love love loved this story.
Thanks so much!
Yeah, I probably should have replaced my joke default hints with something coffee related!
Thanks for playing!
No way, those are what make jam games so hilarious! And its not like they broke the game or anything!
Great job! I really like the narrative approach you took this game in. One of the most complete stories I've seen this Jam. Also cool to see a game with voice acting in it!
Thank you so much for your kind words!
The voice acting was OK, but the voice actor is kind of a noob, and pretty hard to work with (it was me, I’m the voice actor).
Thanks so much for playing!
that ending tho... very nice.
as a note, the game is very laggy at various times.
Thanks so much!
Yeah, the lag was a real shame, I wish I had caught it in testing.
Thanks for playing!
What the heck did I just play... an amazing game is what hahaha
Was wondering how the blood in the logo/thumbnail would be involved and now I understand! Enjoyed starting to make my coffee before leaving for work so that it was ready when I woke up the next day/week (cold but hey, still coffee) and having a few showers hoping for some more quality voice acting hahha
Loved seeing the environmental design change over the days/weeks of work with the growing need for caffeine, it really helped in motivating me to continue playing. Having to refill water/empty grinder were great additions and of course how the game eventually progresses was unexpected but very enjoyable.
Played in browser and experienced a few models not rendering in including the coffee machine exterior unless I was standing directly in front of it but otherwise the models were all very well suited and your use of lighting to guide the player was very well done. Oh and one tiny bit of feedback on the UI, I think the pop-up text needs a background colour as while looking in the sink for example I initially couldn't see the text saying to refill so I looked around for a while! But that's all for changes in my opinion!!
Amazing game and entry, thanks for making this curse of a game hahhaa
What a fantastic review, thank you!
My debut as a voice actor, remember this red letter day!
I don’t know why sometimes the models render fine, and others don’t in HTML 5, it’s a touch frustrating!
I took on your advice about the text, and added outlines to all of them!
Thank you so much for playing!
*Oh, an adorable life sim. I'll check this out.*
*Oh no.*
Great parable! I got Vanilla Sky vibes. Kafkaesque!
I didn't get to finish. Somewhere along the line it got very laggy for me. After I went through a blue zone to the right of the coffee machine. I wasn't sure if that was part of the gameplay or a glitch.
Hahaha, my evil plan worked!
Thanks so much for the compliment!
Yeah, the lag issue was really unfortunate that I didn’t catch that in testing. I’ve got a fix for it, just waiting to be allowed to upload it. The blue area I think is the water container!
Thanks for playing!
I’ve been allowed to upload a fix to the lag issue, if you wanted to experience the full ending :)
Bahaha. This game triggered all the Nopes I had in me. 10/10 for creeping me out, I loved it. Superb and unique entry!
Thank you so much!
Thanks for playing!
Very original game! Wonderful music and 3D work! The coffee slowly filling up the cup was very well done. Great twist a seemingly cozy game. :)
Thank you so much! The music was courtesy of Sarah Platt, and the only 3D models I made were the machine, the cup, the can, and the piles of dirt/beans. The rest of them came from another dev on itch!
I loved putting together the environment, thank you for your compliment!
Thanks for playing!
Lol I got ready for the day in this game before I did in real life. Cool atmosphere and fun puzzles. Unfortunately I couldn't make it to the end but I enjoyed what I saw. That bag of coffee seems very unsettling... Great job on the submission!
Thanks so much!
Yeah, the endgame lag was a killer, and it was “hiding” on my machine because I was going through the game too fast in testing. This has now been fixed in the alternative downloads, and hopefully soon in the itch versions.
Thank you for playing!
I’ve been allowed to upload a fix to the lag issue, if you wanted to experience the full ending :)
This game is named "The Coffee Parable" in my head. :D Absolutely loved the concept and the execution was pretty good, too! Especially for Godot 4 in the web, well done! Time to get another 10 cups of coffee for me! Edit: forgot to mention that I absolutely love the image you used for this on itch, very clever and intriguing.
Now that you mention it, the evolving environment definitely has that kind of feel to it!
Lavie did such an amazing job making the logo for me, I had to plaster it every I could, I love it so much!
Thanks so much for playing!
I’ve since come to realise I didn’t actually understand what a Parable was hahaha!
I didn’t really construct it with that idea in mind, but it definitely turned out that way, you’re right! Thanks for the compliment!
Oh, I was likening the game to The Stanley Parable is all!
https://www.stanleyparable.com/
One of my favourite games, and definitely an inspiration!
Nice atmosphere, the environnement evolution was really interesting but for some reason I can't make coffee during day 3 so wasn't able to finish the game :/
Thanks, I was quite proud of how I made the environment evolve over time!
It’s a shame something went wrong during day 3! There’s only a couple of interactions - refilling the water in the sink and emptying the grounds into the bin. If you did those two things, then it’s totally broken and I have no idea how to help, sorry.
Thanks so much for playing!
ouh, I think I missed the step of emptying the ground into the bin, thanks for the hint :)
Neat idea. I love these exploration style puzzle games. Afraid I wasn't able to finish. I got to the point where I had to replace the coffee beans collector and I was just opening and closing it over and over again. Not sure if that's a bug or if I'm missing the puzzle there. Anyway, nice artwork!
Thanks!
Did you empty the grounds container into the bin? If you did, then I have no idea what went wrong!
Thanks so much for playing!
No, I walked around for a bit looking for other things to do, but didn't find that. Maybe I'll give it another shot.
Cursed XD, I need to set my coffee down now
ENJOY COFFEE
Thanks for playing!
Oh man, after playing through that I'm gonna need a coffee. Just horrifying. Great job. I'd love to know what a bone receptacle is.
The bone receptacle was supposed to have bones in it, but for now it’s just a mystery…
Thanks so much for playing!
Epic! I too was hit with funny glitches in the browser including some objects like the coffee machine frame disappearing depending on distance and horrible lag near the (I assume) the end prevented me to finish, but I really enjoyed this regardless and you’ve used Godot 4 so I’m impressed by the 3D export into HTML working this much, yay! I’m staying on 3 for reliable web export which is a big plus for jams, but I’m looking forward to 4 as much as the next Godoteer so this is great news ;)
Very cool and Kudos for Open Source, I’ve enjoyed briefly checking your code, naming, and general structure.
Thanks so much!
Yeah, 3D HTML 5 is a bit of a stretch at the best of times, and I included a lot of lights in the final section…
Sorry about my code, it got pretty spaghetti there towards the end!
Thanks so much for playing!
I’ve been allowed to upload a fix to the lag issue, if you wanted to experience the full ending :)
Same here. Really bad at the end with the HTML so I got stuck and no idea about the actual ending (although I can make an educated guess). Also, attempting to download the Windows build was blocked by my browsers. Are they links to files somewhere else or did you upload them to itch?
I did upload directly to itch, and it’s a really weird issue. I’ve included an alternative download via a release on my github page, and updated the page text to reflect that.
Thanks for playing!
Hmm. I have seen this blocking problem with at least one other game in this jam. I have to admit, I was quite surprised that a 3D game would work this well in a browser.
Sorry, forgot to add that I really like the game - like an interactive short story. Feels like something that could be the intro to a much bigger horror themed game of some sort. Nicely done.
I’ve been allowed to upload a fix to the lag issue, if you wanted to experience the full ending :)
Got there in the end... if you'll forgive the pun.
I loved the story to this one and the music was top notch and creepy. I don't want to give anything away for the other jammies, but I enjoyed it! I had performance issues near the end on the HTML5 version.
Thanks so much! I really pushed the limits of what I can accomplish with this one, and I’m super proud of it.
Sorry about the performance issues!
Sarah does amazing music, I’m very lucky to have her work with me on this project.
Thanks for playing!
