Very good submission.
So far only beat level 1 playing next levels after jam
What a sassy catburglar! I was a little worried by the look of the title screen (which is very nicely done by the way) that this game might rely a little too heavy on the sex appeal of the character, but she is actually a very nice well put together character. I agree with many others that the art and voice acting are top notch. The game play is super smooth, just like the character lol. I thought the difficulty was just right for me, and I am not at all a stealthy game type person. Is there a proper ending you can get, does anyone know? I got to the ring part and got caught by the dog on top floor and then the game resets and I didn't know if there's was a way to get pass that particular dog and to get some sort of ending? A very well done and polish game indeed.
Thank you for playing our game!
We really discussed the whole idea of "allure" for Cynth inside our team a good bit. Our goal wasn't to make her a sex icon by any means, but to let her have a hint of allure as would most certainly be within her rights. Albeit with, what we hoped, would be a classy and tasteful presentation. Really happy that it seems to have come off that way. We also wanted her to be a bit goofy too, which I tried to incorporate in her animations.
There does seem to be a strange bug that players encounter where it resets the game or crashes. That is something we will really need to look into after the Jam. Inconvenient for sure..
If it brings your curiosity some closure there is indeed an ending! And even a 1 off animation on the 3rd and final level. With a sort of cutscene at the end.
Again, thank you so much for playing! I think we might polish it up after the Jams voting phase closes up. Sorry for the inconvenience though!
Oh I am glad to hear there's more levels and an ending! And yes very well done job on giving Cynth just enough allure but not over the top, I actually quite like her personality and I look forward to check out the game again when the reset bug goes away!
I mean, game's great. The shadow mechanic is fun and the snippets of story here and there made it wildly enjoyable, plus it's really the stuff I like so to me this knocked it out of the park. The only reason I'm writing the following is because at least we'll have smth to talk about when relating to this beast of an entry.
One thing I didn't like was the fact that I could basically just stand inside a guard without them catching me. I think it's fine as a "hidden" mechanic based on the players skill, but from really early on it's a skill you kinda have to use and it's a bit counterintuitive (dogs might be blind but they should sniff you anyway/the idea of stealth is being away and sneaking around). On the flipside. in the first level on the top floor you can roll over the guard to basically teleport outside the guard's awareness and it looks like a really advanced move for a first level, but since it's not "required" to complete the level it feels rather good to pull it off if you can and first run players won't be discouraged by it.
What a nice entry. The intro is really perfect. The actress sounds really good.
Excellent submission! The gameplay is simple yet challenging, and the art direction is top notch. Love seeing a game with so much care in the sound aspect. Voice acting is something rare in gamejams and always appreciated, especially with this level of polish.
I played it over a little time window, and game crashed after first mission (Windows build). At first I thought it was intentional because I won lol, but reading the comments make me want to revisit it! The difficulty on this level can get a bit too challenging though.
Thanks for your entry!
freaking adorable and awesome. and im stuck. lol.
This is a great and wholesome game, with all the parts fitted well together. Had a lot of fun exploring the first level. At the same time, it felt too punishing for a player who was not proficient with the heist games. I looted for a thousand or so but couldn’t find a route to escape. The guard on top had no shadow or cover, which left me wondering what I should do next. Probably return back the same path?
Very polished, though I got a bit frustrated with the way the stairs work. It was also a bit hard for me to visually tell when something would count as "in shadow" or not, so I had to rely mostly on the text indicator.
This one's got the production value of an experienced team, and it shows. That also means that I am holding it to a higher standard than most submissions.
My first nitpick is the key swing. It's not done well, and it is a glaring blemish on what would otherwise be a masterpiece of a splash screen. A buddy was with me as well at the time, and referred to what was happening in the chest as "Photoshop Animation," but this criticism is hardly noticeable if at all to an untrained eye like myself.
Stealth games demand patience, and I really hated starting at the beginning after every mistake. My patience very quickly ran out, and I would get caught just going through the motions and trying to get back to where I was. I guess I could also just 'git gud'.
Voice Acting is always an appreciable addition, just adds to the flavor and personality of the sprite. It's done competently and cleanly, something I aspire to be able to do.
This game is strong, very strong indeed, but you are far from invincible.
Really fun game!! The most frustrating part was going for all the loot in a level and then getting caught on the way out lol. Just a note, on the first level on the top floor all the way to the left there is a hole you can roll out of. When I rolled out of it the game froze. Otherwise, thanks for making such an engaging game!
absolutely outstanding entry!! incredibly polished, the art (both pixel and digital) and sound are amazing, controls feel good, the voice-acting blew me away. the levels are well designed, the ui is great as well. overall an amazing experience, feels like i'm playing a fully fledged commercial game :) this definitely has potential for further development and a big release if devs feel like working on it further.
i ran into one weird issue though, playing the browser version - google chrome would crash after each newly completed level (after the first level on my 1st run, second level on my 2nd run, etc). i might come back to this on the desktop version just to finish the game.
The music was awesome! Definitely my favorite part being a musician myself!
All of the art is fantastic. The VO and writing are good, too. Like others mentioned, the roll is a bit unwieldy. Also, on my monitor, it wasn't always clear what was going to be shadow vs. light, partially due to the smooth gradient used between the two. These didn't impact my enjoyment of the game significantly, and I played until the end.
I'm impressed by all the individual contributions as well as the level of coordination that went into making this. Great work to the whole team!
Nice game, well-polished! I love that the last place you rob has a computer in a room that's only accessible via vent. Also I rolled out of the top left of the building on level 1, which was funny but I had to refresh the page.
Loved the plot, the voice acting, the art. Really nicely polished!
Very cool game! Not often you hear voice acting in these jam submissions. Very well done, congrats!
Absolutely amazing entry for a game jam! I just can see it right now on the Steam or Nintendo Switch E-Shop.... haha
Very polished, the art, the sounds, the voice, the aesthetics... also the game is very fun. Despite having difficulty with the roll mechanic, I insisted on reaching the end, even though I was captured several times. Sadly, only when I replayed to see something I noticed that we can stop the roll just pressing the "X" button! Oh, how I wish to know this before... haha
Really nice job! Congratulations to everyone made this game!
Managed to roll to my death on the first level so cat burglary maybe isn't my thing.
Lovely art and small little sneaking game. Character controls buttery smooth- bit too smooth since i fell to my death. cute cat/10 great job!
The pixel art animations and voice acting blew my mind, especially the Ratchet & Clank-esque timing of those dialogue moments. The art is astonishing, the level design was clever and the introductory narrative was so impressive. My only real critique was with the lack of checkpoints, but this is such high-quality work and I can't fathom how you all made this so quickly.
The presentation of this game is way too good! The art, voice-acting, transitions, UI, the noir-style soundtrack, it's all fantastic! The stealth gameplay was simple and fun too!
If I had any qualms with the game, it'd be the roll mechanic. I felt that it was a bit clunky to use, and I'd sometimes roll farther than I'd like, and end up getting caught. Also, because the roll is activated from the combination of the arrow keys, I sometimes accidentally initiated a roll when I didn't expect it to.
Walking down stairs is also a little clunky too, but at least not enough to get me caught.
(There's also a hole in the window on the top floor of the first level. I may have rolled through it and killed Cynth by rolling her off the building)
