Woah, this game is really cool! Nice job!

Developer

Thanks very much!

Genius mechanic with the books being level fragments. It felt very complete.

Thank you - glad you liked it!

Great puzzle platformer! I played through quite a bit but couldn't figure out how to get the last medallion. I would have preferred if the places that you died were slightly more obvious because sometimes you die in the air and other times you don't. Although, it does fits great with the theme really well and I did really enjoy the mechanics!

Developer

Glad you enjoyed it! That last medallion is a little tricky do find. ;) Thanks for the feedback - we'll definitely keep that in mind!

Very creative concept! I would work on the graphics and some smaller bugs, but the concept is great! Don't change it!

If I unzip the Linux version I get the zipped windows version. Are you sure this is correct? Anyhow it works in html and with wine.

Developer (1 edit)

Everything works with wine! Seriously, thanks for letting us know, we'll check the uploads. If we decide to develop the project further we'll definitely look at polishing things up - all assets were handmade by one artist within the game jam period and the whole game was made by three people.

I really like the idea of piecing stories together, collected a few medallions but I could not figure out how to obtain the verse on top of the house in the beanstalk story. I hope the pacing could be faster such as speedier character movement or allowing only a few books to be active instead of all of them. Then again, great job with the mechanic!

Thanks for the feedback! We tried to make some of the collectables tricky to reach - maybe try using the Fakir in a different book. ;)

A quite original concept, very creative!

Needs a little polishing, but overall, good job! :D

Thank you very much - glad you enjoyed it!

Wow, this is pretty fantastic! It took me minute to get it but once I did… very cool and unique.

It would be cool if the music/instrumentation smoothly changed as you moved from one “book” level to another to represent the story/era.

I think you should keep working on this! Shows tremendous promise.

Thanks so much - glad you liked it!

Very good, this game has a lot of content for a gamejam, congratulations! Just a small detail, but I had trouble clicking on the book to start the platformer phase, I don't know if it's my fault but the button worked 1 time out of 2.

Developer

It might be that the webversion is a bit slower then the downloadable game? Thanks for playing!

Enjoyed this game a lot, I tried my best but couldn't get the fifth medallion piece.  I was trying to think of what the phrase swapping mechanic reminded of, I think it was 'Beacon Pines'.  It's a really nice idea, with a lot of potential for a puzzle platformer game, especially within the Storytelling/folklore space.  I'd love to see it developed fully.

Developer(+1)

You did really well getting 4 of them! Some are quite difficult to get to! Thanks for playing!

The concept of this game is very interesting and I enjoyed my little playthrough. Didn’t get to finish it but looks promising, it just needs a little bit more time. It is what it is with game jams.

Developer

Thank you for your kind words! Time... yes, it just seems to disappear on us!

This was a really cool game! I liked it a lot. The platforming needs some polish: it's very clunky. Really liked the puzzle of how to put the books together to change the level.

Developer

Thank you for playing! Did you play the web version or did you download the game?

Submitted

I played the web version.

Really good concept of level progression :) The music and puzzles were great!

Thank you so much for your kind words. Thanks for playing!

I enjoyed playing this! It was clever and cute.

I got as far as finding all the books a 3 verses, but then got stuck in a state where the Grape and Fox story would not stop having the beanstalk, and I wasn't able to get it to appear anywhere else.

Solid and original submission. Great work!

Developer

Thanks for your comment! The beanstalks are intended to be permanent after they appear the first time. Was it still stuck after you tried moving the Beanstalk verse to a different book?

Submitted(+1)

Yeah, it was still stuck after I moved it to other books, and wouldn't appear in the other ones.

Developer

The beanstalk might not appear in every book. Or it might not appear as you would think ;)
Thanks for playing

really liked the split between librarian / player, and nice sounds. a la 'sorry, but the princess is in another castle'
