Love the torus level - don’t think I’ve ever seen that in a game like this.

Also loved the book being written as my character explored and fought, particularly how the maze took me “2 days” to get through. Might be nice to add a day/night cycle… though how that works on a torus shaped world I have no idea.

The only thing that didn’t seem to work for me was that I couldn’t scroll the book after I died. Might be because I’m on a MacBook Air with a touch pad?

This is very cool! I love the Mad Libs/Choose Your Own Adventure style of the game - very unique! Great graphics with a very nice palette. Also has just the right amount of strategy and enemy mechanics. It was hard to tell when I was being hit, though.

And if I’m being super nit-picky, the only confusing thing was that you use the same arrow graphic for reading the next passage and leaving an area. I was trying to click on the arrow after finishing an area.

The game looks really great but I struggled with the controls. I think a controller would work better for this kind of precise jumping and dashing.

Love the effect when you respawn!

Very cool and challenging. I’ll need to come back to this one and try to get further. Excellent graphics and clear gameplay.

Wow, this is pretty fantastic! It took me minute to get it but once I did… very cool and unique.

It would be cool if the music/instrumentation smoothly changed as you moved from one “book” level to another to represent the story/era.

I think you should keep working on this! Shows tremendous promise.

A nice little asteroid game!

It feels like the difficulty ramps up pretty quickly. Or I’m just not that good at the game.

I think it would be helpful to display the name of the pickup you just got so you have an idea of what it does. One turned me red and another turned me blue but I don’t know what that means.

Well done - Definitely a bullet hell game! Cool effect on the main menu though it seems like the Musicbox portion doesn’t work?

If I had one request it would be for the debris of ships to not be the same color as the ship - makes it hard to discern them from living ships.

The intro sequence was cool.

But I was fighting with my trackpad to aim in the direction I wanted which was ultimately frustrating.

Super solid entry! Music gave me awesome NES vibes and the gameplay is essential SHMUP action.

Not sure if it’s intentional, but I like that it saves my progress across sessions.

I had to play full screen, otherwise my browser (Edge) would scroll the page when using the arrow keys. But I wanted to see the great pixel art larger anyways!

I honestly found this game frustrating. Everybody shoots faster than you and directly downward so you basically just have to take damage to defeat them. Sure you get coins but nothing I ever bought showed up on my ship. And going to the Pit Stop didn’t give me anything.

Did I miss something?

Well done! Loved the graphics and the death effect was very cool. Pretty tough I found, though. Might be nicer to start off with some simpler enemies and then introduce tougher ones later on?

Cowboys vs Aliens :-D

Enemies were definitely creepy - not what I was expecting. A fun little game!

The only thing that took me out of it was the laser blast sound from a cowboy but I guess maybe he had a laser rifle and not a six shooter?

Wow - really impressive! Love music and fantastic art. Solid, easy game play with a nice aesthetic. Loved the various sounds she would make when getting hit.

My only feedback would be that the “bullets” were kind of hard to see against the background.

Thanks for giving it a try!

You can download the soundtrack from here if you’d like: https://polymonic.bandcamp.com/album/rent-seek-kill

Thank you so much!

Cool idea! I think it haws a lot of potential.

I love the graphics and the level loading animation - nicely done!

Unfortunately it kept crashing my browser (Safari) but I will give it another try on my Windows machine.

Love the look and feel of this game!

Thankfully Kaveri’s comment pointed out that you have to click on units to select them - I just though the WASD keys weren’t working in my browser.

I also really liked the sound. I felt like I was walking around spooky, dark metal hallways. My only feedback would be to lower the volume of the breach holes opening up - it’s much louder than everything else.

I tried to play this in a browser (safari) but the layout seemed broken. I end up with a game on the and text overlaying itself on the right.

I enjoyed this and played it for a while but unfortunately my browser (Safari) eventually reloaded the page due to memory usage. I would’ve kept going if it hadn’t!

Neat idea with the music changing based on the creature you possess though I’m not sure how necessary it is.

I think the only thing it needs is changing up the tile set after a while so I feel like I’m exploring and making progress.

I specially enjoyed seeing the flying squirrel since it was similar to a game I mad for a jam where you float using an umbrella :-D

Thanks! I was trying to make it so you can’t use the tractor beam just anywhere (light right on top of a human), so if you’re too high (yellow) or too low (red) you can’t use it.

Thank you, and you’re not wrong!

What a fishing fantastic game! Fun gameplay and humor, especially the rail gun bit. Well done!

If I have one suggestion it’s that the sound/music seems too low, even with my speakers at max volume.

Ha, I just learned about the concept of “diegetic” in a book I’m readying - “The Game Music Handbook”

I never got around to making the humans walk or the tanks move. I think that would’ve made things a bit more interesting. And yes, more levels with challenging layouts/situations.

Thanks for giving it a go!

There definitely should be more levels with guns in places that challenge you to navigate. Maybe even a timer so you are compelled to act quick.

Thanks for giving it a try!

Thank you so much for giving it a try! I didn’t make time to set up a UI so I decided to just put them on the ship :-D

This was great. Ended up playing longer than I thought I would. It’s an addictive game mechanic!

My only complaint is that I don’t know what any of the things in the shop do. I think the stuff on the left is only for the next level and the stuff on the right is permanent and can be upgraded more. I guess one lets me lift more weight… and one lets me see further in the dark? Not sure about the stuff on the left, though.

I liked the music track a lot with all of its clanking, but I think it would be good to switch it up once you’ve gotten further into the game either based on time or your power up levels.

It’s like you had a fishing game all set up and they said “no water” so you just deleted the water plane and added wings to the boat - and it’s beautiful! Great art style and lovely music - it was all very relaxing.

My only complaint would be that the plane-boat feels like it flies more like a ship in space. I feel like once I level out my wings the planet-boat should stop turning. But I also haven’t studied physics in 30 years, so what do I know?

Very cool game! Love the color palette, art work and music. Gave it a few rounds and managed to get up to a score of 23.

If I could make one suggestion it would be that the stars that pull you in have some visual effect like a spiral letting you know that’s what is pulling you in.

Really great art and aesthetic, but like @angelalb I wish there was an intro level to get me used to the hook/reel mechanic - I was struggling to get up the first level.

Always nice to see Manta Rays in a game too :-D

Really nice graphics and physics but I couldn’t manage to collect any of the right things. I thought I was grabbing the correct colors but neither of the counts went up.

I wish the music was a little more space themed.

Fun little game with quirky, endearing graphics and sound effects. I got about halfway to the finish before the boat got flipped over, unfortunately. It’s a far way to go without any change in the gameplay, so it might be good to half the distance you need to travel?

Very well done, fellow abductor! It’s everything I wanted my game to be :-D Loved the humorous human sounds as they were being beamed.

The only thing I missed was the ability to make the game full screen.

It’s a good start! Couldn’t manage to catch any of the parts but I’m not sure if that was user skill or missing implementation :-D

Lots of mechanics and fun gameplay - impressive amount of stuff for a few days!

The only thing I found frustrating was the “floaty” feeling of moving the ship. I kind of wish I could’ve controlled it’s movement using the keyboard and that it was a bit more precise.

Very nice - cool music, fun gameplay and impressive transition effects!

It’s a bit hard to play using a trackpad, though.

Between the fish, the way the levels were laid out and the way you control your character, it still felt like I was under water. Perhaps the character should drift a bit after moving as if he was in space?

Very cool - love the graphics, gameplay and music!

Unfortunately it keeps causing the “Significant memory usage” error in Safari and ends up reloading the page.

Thanks for the review!

The theme would’ve been implemented if you were able to do more things with the umbrella, which was my intention but didn’t manage to pull off.

I’ve got an updated version I’m working on in which I’ll try to add Coyote Time. If anything it means I can put platforms further away from each other ;-)

Very impressive looking! I couldn’t bump up the resolution but it still looked really good pixelated. Lots of atmosphere though the whistle sound of the grappling hook took me out of it a bit. The grapple hook also really tossed me around - might want to cut it’s velocity in half and see how that feels.

Cool evil looking spherebots too!

Really fun little game! Took me a little bit to get used to the two actions but once I understood it was a challenging game. Managed to finish it but it wasn’t easy.

Nice colors and graphics that reminded me a bit of Geometry Wars. I think you could keep working on this and have a really compelling game!
