Game Description
Kill bugs! They deserve it, for reasons.
How does your game tie into the theme?
Your gun fires automatically, so turning to face an enemy often has the unintended consequence of breaking the wall separating you from other enemies.

I got to Wave 7! Once I discovered the strategy of using the walls to trap / separate the bugs, it became a lot more fun and strategic!
I really enjoyed everything. It was a twist on a familiar concept executed well. I thought the art style and audio were both on point as well. Great job!
I like the limitation of having to aim with your movement.
Good job!
I loved this! Agreed that it's definitely robotron-y, but having played that cabinet recently, I'd say this is more fun. :)
The minimalist art is really well done, and the sound effects were perfect and soothing. The ability to move around outside the walls as a strategy was a nice touch. I imagine the firing-mechanism was clunky-by-design? It felt really good to move that little mech-friend around!
This would feel really wonderful with controller support, if you revisit it after the jam. Great work!
Thanks!
Yeah, I tried to tune the firing clunkiness to be challenging but not too annoying. The guns turn just a little slower than the vehicle does, which seems to make movement feel just slightly sloppier than it really is. Don't know if I got that tuning quite right. But it could definitely be (and was) much worse.
Also I have to admit that the tactical usefulness of the walls was one of those happy accidents. It wasn't the plan. But once I started playing and realized it could happen, I had to lean into it and give the player some space to maneuver outside of them. I also like that there's some risk to being outside the walls because you're right beside where new enemies spawn!
FWIW, I did experiment with D-pad movement and that should still be in the build. But I don't anything about browser support for game controllers.
It was tuned really well, I'd say! I hadn't noticed the guns turning slower, but if felt good. Running away in a panic from those little critters reminded me of the film Runaway, which absolutely terrified me as a kid.
Gotta love happy accidents! And agreed that the added risk factor was a nice element of stress. I just tried hooking up a controller and it does works in the browser, wildly. (The dpad, not the joystick.)
Also, I forgot to mention, really enjoyed your humor in the game! 😌
I really love all the sound effects, they are super satisfying and give it a neat old school arcade feel. some classic 8bit music would take it to the next level! The concept of the auto firing cannons is interesting, but it made the game play a bit frustrating as I was mostly running from the enemies and doing constant circles to get the projectiles firing in the right direction. I think adding just a little extra rotation to the guns would help the game feel better while still keeping with your theme idea. good work!
Fun quick game! Was a bit hard but that's what makes it fun. I like how the theme was implemented. Nice job!
The visual is simple, but very effective.
The challenge is there and it gave me a great time!
I made it to Level 10!
Wow! I think 8 is the highest I've made it outside of cheating/testing.
I spent my college playing Space Junkie, a very difficult ripoff of Space Invaders! It finally served me something!
Cool minimalistic game. Got to wave 7 or so? The constraints are pretty impactful and create an interesting game loop together (only shoot forward + necessary movement to avoid enemies + destroying the wall that protects you from enemies. I only feel like it some better way to destroy bugs not right in front of you would be good, I often walked in circles. Nice game, and pretty polished! :)
The game has plenty of bugs. The minimalist art style is fitting. The sounds are okay, but music is missing. The gameplay basically works, but I would find it more interesting if the walls were arranged in a more complex way and didn't break so quickly, because then you could use them more tactically. I wish I could attack 360° with the mouse, but maybe they deliberately decided against it. With the walls in question, it would fit better to be so limited in shooting.
The bit about the bugs was a pun, by the way.
Loved the art, good use of screen pixalation
The robot thing you control feels very smooth to move around. It’s kind of hard to hit the bugs in the beginning stages but it gets easier once you get more turrets. But other than that it was a pretty cool game! The art style looked really nice. I love how the robot’s eyes wiggle lol. I made it to Wave 4 btw
Score 189, Wave 7. I liked the goofy-ness! At first I found it counterintuitive for the gun to only shoot forwards but you get the hang of it. Well done on the difficulty, I feel I could have stayed in even longer if I would have gone for more health. Great little game!
Thanks! Wave 7 is very respectable in my book!
