Judge feedback

Judge feedback is anonymous and shown in a random order.

  • Really well executed, I like how HYPLAY was implemented without much friction and allows you to play almost uninterrupted. It would have been fun to include a twist to make it different than the original but really well made overall.
  • Simple yet effective! Classic game but polished. The flow to return to playing is really effective—it makes you instantly want to challenge your old score.
  • A pretty standard take on the theme, and a re-imagination of a classic - it's not *novel* but it absolutely does not need to be. The execution here is damn near flawless, I can't really complain about anything! Ordinarily I'd complain about randomness with leaderboards, but this wouldn't work without. It's a test of your reactions, and I enjoyed every minute with it. I have no complaints with this one!

How does your game relate to the theme?
You only get one shot to cross as far as you can before dying

Wow, so simple, yet so gripping! Well done!!

old game, beatiful and funny remake!

The sound and dying animations are so good and clear🤓

The game looks classic and fun.  However, in terms of originality, I feel like I've seen dozens of games involving chicken crossing through the road and one of them was played and streamed by IShowSpeed I think. Moreover, the gameplay feels too generic and unoriginal although I like the score chasing while playing this game.

Game felt complete and it was fun playing.

Can't go wrong with a classic.

Lots of subtle touches that come together on this game to make it feel polished and enjoyable.

I also liked how I was able to sign in with hyplay without requiring a page reload - I didn't know that was possible!

I would have liked if there was a unique spin to make it different from crossy road/frogger. Something like extra points for travelling many squares in a short time, close-calls with vehicles, or something like that.

100%. There was so much I wanted to do to differentiate it, but lost  a week to the hurricane. Fortunately this entire project is actually part of a much larger game where all the current art (a free art pack on itch) is going to be thrown out and rebranded to a different IP, and hopefully that's when I can start adding the differentiating factors.

Really fun game . Knew exactly what to do without reading any instructions. Love the artstyle, the audio and the mechanics

Well done! It's a nostalgic reminder to Crossy Road and implemented perfectly.

Super simple and elegant! Well done.

Woohoo, I made top 10! Very satisfying game. Nice take on an old classic. The animations/art/camera were nicely polished. And the sound design of the passing cars was spot on. Great job!

Really neat execution! This is a very addictive gameplay! Enjoyed getting splattered!

One hell of an engaging game. Nice Work!!

I was quacking along nicely but got splatted before 1000.
Simple but well executed.
Love it.

Very entertaining, at first I thought it was buggy when dying because it didn't do anything, then I noticed that it took awhile for the leaderboard to come out. Congratulations

Developer

Yep, my daughter hit this too and I was like oh, no, did it break? But it turns out the leaderboard service was having some sort of outage or hiccough briefly. Post-jam I might add some scaffolding around this to make the UX better in case of service outages since it doesn't give you any indication of loading progress.

Movement is so crisp! Really enjoyed playing this as a result of how good the movement felt and made me want to keep playing every time I died to an overly ambitious jump out onto the road.

Quite a boring game. Feels like it took 12 minutes to make and I want the 7 minutes of my life back playing

Developer

If you spent seven minutes playing it, you couldn't have hated it that much. :D Thanks for playing.

Its funny :)

Great job! I got hooked for a hot minute lol. I like the simple ones!

It fits the jam's theme perfectly, and it's great when it comes to pushing to go further. A simple but very well-made game, congrats! Not sure if it was my browser, but the sound would sometimes stutter.

A fun homage to frogger.

Was a cool take to add more barricades between roads. I'll probably have to circle back to this game later to try and get the high-score ;)

Submitted

As promised.. I came back for that high-score ;)
