Oh I loved the theme! Cheese is just my favorite food of all time :D And the names were so fun to read! I need to take my time with this one a bit more, thanks a lot for writing it!

SO FUN TO READ! We would never have thought of an idea like this and neither has anyone else we think! This has a place is everyone's toolbox as it showcases the effectiveness of simple life and how magic interacts and changes it. Read this!!
Great stuff! I died at Walter & Granite. I hope your next adventure goes to the moon—I hear it is made of cheese.
Really leans into the gonzo parts of fantasy in the best possible way. The layout is particularly fantastic.
I picture the Limburger Lich as Gary Oldman in 'Dracula", muttering to himself, "...the cheese... the cheese is the life...".
All that cheese...now I want cheese. Love the soft colors and story.
I can really feel the DCC vibes on this one. Well, at least in everything except the layout...
I mean this in the best possible way. You are like a surgeon here! Everything is right where it needs to be, color coordinated, bolded, easy to access. I think a couple elements could use a touch of spacing, like your headers, but man do I wish proper DCC adventures took this level of care with their work.
I'm a big fan of the more wacky, gonzo stuff, and it's thick here. I particularly love the way you use quotes to get across quick character ideas. Something I do regularly feel about Gonzo adventures though, is that I wish there was just a little more of a sense of general progression. I might worry about my players wandering kind of blindly through the dungeon, never feeling like they have a reason to go in any particular direction.
Fantastic work though! Of 5 or 6 adventures I've gotten a chance to look at so far, this one is among the ones more likely to get run at my table just due to the layout and plentiful referee tools.
Thank you so much for the kind words!
What's funny is originally I had completely missed the page count maximum rule and had well over 30 pages laid out, each room with its own 2-page-spread and s lot more detail. Then I (thankfully) went back and gave the Jam rules another read and found I was more than double the pages I was allowed and had to trim everything down in the final week. I think my bumbling ignorance to the rules and trimming worked in my favor, making me focus on getting the most important details associated with each room into a smaller space. Also, my wife, (who doesn't play TTRPGS yet!) was an amazing editor. I couldn't have finished this without her.
But I hear you about the lack of direction in most gonzo-style adventures. I always worry when I run a DCC one that the players will not be entirely sure which way is forward. My goal with Cave of Coagulation was to put a purpose to the wandering by finding the scroll pieces but also leaving it open enough that if the players wanted to just "steal cheese and vamoose" then they could. Definitely all boils down to the group at the table I guess!
Appreciate the time you spent on me! Really appreciate it! :D
Cave of Coagulation was going for Gouda Funk, and it gets there for sure. What impresses me most is how exact the layouts feel, like this was designed by a crackpot wizard. Chaotic, but carefully controlled. Tangy.
You had me at "a story of greed and cheese." Highlights: the overall presentation, color scheme (which also helps ease of navigation), and the hand-drawn maps. This will be easy to pick up and play on the fly (which is always a selling point for this forever gm).
I don't want to make this comment too cheesy 🧀 But I really loved the theme. Made me chuckle a lot ;)
Wow! This adventure is truly amazing!! Perfectly designed around the cheese theme, with the exact amount of weirdness and fun. The layout is impressive and looks like a blast to run. I really look forward to running this as it really fits my gm style - and my group would absolutely love it too. Amazing work
