Admittedly could not quite figure out the actual game play mechanics, but the art is so beautiful I enjoyed just randomly clicking tiles, which is a good tell for a game. The lack of levels is mildly disappointing though, but overall a great entry. Did I mention the art is fantastic? Good.
Glad you enjoyed your time!
The goal of the game is to connect tiles together and certain connections will make in upgrade happen.
Each time you place or upgrade a tile you get points.
Try to get the highest amount of points you can each time you play!
Incredibly beautiful and enjoyable game, it's a pity that you didn't have enough time for more buildings, but even without that I had a great time)
We're glad you enjoyed playing! We are also a little sad we couldn't increase the scope for the jam but that just makes us excited to see what the future holds for this game!
dang, the art's insane (especially the isometric part - that's hard to pull off) music fit the mood perfectly, and the game was simple, but hard to master. really cool submission!
Thank you for playing! We thought that we didn't seen much isometric done in jams so figured we would give it a go! I'm glad we were able to pull it off :)
Phenomenal art direction, audio design, and polishing, but it felt like the rest of the game was somewhat lacking.
While it was fun to combine buildings into better buildings, it all felt a bit pointless as the buildings served no purpose. I understand the goal of the game is to place as many tiles as you can, but it would be nice if certain buildings affected the gameplay. Perhaps building the big castle could add a new empty tile to the edge of the 5x5 grid, or a water refinery could clear out neighboring corruption. The shield building seems to do something along those lines, but I never figured out what it does exactly.
I understand this is a jam game, so I completely agree with your decision to limit the scope and focus on polishing the core gameplay loop, but it all falls a bit short in my opinion.
Additionally, the goal of the game is to place as many tiles as you can without any real win condition. It feels pretty bad to be greeted by 'Gameover' in big red letters after every game, even when you beat your personal best. Instead you could have used 'Results', or 'Your performance'.
The concept has potential to be a lot of fun, but I feel like you were just a bit short of reaching that point. Currently all the fun comes from the tiny dopamine rush of combining things and seeing the result, but that feeling fades away very quickly.
All very good thoughts and we would have loved to implement a lot of that (we had a lot of the same ideas during development actually) but as a team of two and neither one of us having made a game like this before it just wasn't in the cards to play.
I do agree that "Results" or " Your performance" would have been a better way to word the end screen, that one is on me as it was one of the last things put in to the game.
We hope to expand upon this game in the future with this jam version serving as the absolute MVP of the concept so stay tuned and thanks for playing!
Nice game. Beautiful and stylish. Well done
A nice city building game. Need to think many time before placing tiles. My highest score was around 200. Maybe you can add highscore leaderboard in future. Great work ^^
We would love to do a global leaderboard! That is definitely in the thought pot for future updates to the game! We are glad you enjoyed your time with the game :)
awesome game! I got hooked on this one! great graphics and relaxing music. Well designed game, the mechanics point to a easy to understand goal, which makes gameplay a fun and challenging and engaging experience! overall I enjoyed playing! congratulations! keep it up!
Wow! Such kind words, it humbles us :) Thank you so much for playing and we are very happy you enjoyed your time playing!
Relaxing music, beautiful visuals, and a neat little concept. Wish there was maybe some sort of progression and/or bigger maps. Anyway, fantastic job!
Thank you! We would have loved to include more content but due to time constraints we had to cut back on the scope. We hope to expand upon it in the future so stay tuned!
This is one of the most beautiful itch.io games I've played. Simply awesome art direction, soothing soundtrack, and fun gameplay. What type of witchcraft did you summon to create the art in one week? Teach me!
Haha! Glad you like it! I'm not sure if this is a similar situation as a magician never tells their secret but you would have to ask The Art Guy (yes, that is his itch tag) about that cause he made the art!
I can not understand how you managed to make a game like this in such a short time, I just love, a game that would play a little longer, the art is amazing the sounds are very well implemented, everything in general, I only have nice words for this project, 10/10 thanks for doing it
Thank you so much! I can tell you that it wasn't easy but we got through it by having a solid plan from the start and never adding anything too big outside of that plan. Keeping scope creep in check was a huge part why we were able to make what we did :)
well done! and lots of encouragement
Amazing art and music! Loved the concept and the execution is really good!
Great job!
Thank you!
Everything in this game comes together really well, from the music to the sfx to the art. Easy and relaxing to play. I can totally see this being expanded further.
Thanks for playing and leaving such a good review! It warms our hearts knowing people are enjoying it :)
Looks and sounds and plays great, Maybe could do with some information about placed tiles, can be a bit hard to tell them apart sometimes. Maybe that's just me. Reminds me of Triple Town where the different tiles are very distinct.
Thanks for checking out the game! What information are you looking for exactly? More visual feedback on your tiles verses the rest of the board or actual information about the tile itself?
Mostly what type of tile they are.
the art so good and the music
A nice-looking game with great fitting music creating a magical atmosphere. The mechanic is simple but addicting!
great art!
Thank you! Our artist worked hard on it and it fills me with joy that so many people are appreciating it just as much as I do :)
Wow... that was the true chillout experience. The art and the music are just outstanding. Simple rules, perfect execution, very enjoyable game.
Thank you! We are happy to hear you enjoyed it!
Fun game, although I was expecting more out of it, like more merging of houses and castles. I also found a bit confusing as to why sometimes two houses make a yellow roof casted, and sometimes they make a green farm. It would be also nice to have different tiles at the beginning, just to have some variety in the game
Thanks for playing! We also would love to have more tiles with more upgrades but unfortunately we had to cut the scope somewhere and just make a really tight gameplay loop for the jam. This is by no means what we would personally consider "finished". Rather it is our idea of an MVP of the idea and concept of the game. Stay tuned in the future as we are in discussion about developing this game further post jam!
Great job, looks already very polished :)
Thank you! I loved playing your game as well, the sketchy style was on point!
