Did you work in a team?
Solo, but it was an enjoyable experience regardless.
Was the resolution a challenge?
It was a challenge to balance nice graphics with play-ability. I ended up changing my original idea of an action-based game to a slower paced turn-based game. This made the narrow view more acceptable IMO.
What did you learn?
Only polish what needs polishing to be able to make the deadline. I hope I can apply that to my other (lifelong) projects as well.

Super cool.
Loved the concept, and how it really made me carefully think about my next move, especially as the snake got longer.
The graphics were simple but looked good, and the audio also matched really well.
The instant camera movement was a little jarring at first, but I did get used to it.
Neat game. I like the idea of merging snake with an adventure game. I wish it didn't have perma-death though. I want to explore the whole world but it's too annoying starting again every time. The furthest I got was past the guy who wanted the ring. From what I did see it seems like there's a lot of things to find and obstacles to overcome. The graphics and music are nice too.
This is so good! :) I love the BGM you used especially the forest theme ^^ really creative and very addictive :)
I'm trying to complete it but I think I'm soft locked? ,':/ when I get the red potion from the island dungeon, it doesn't show on my item bar? and when I go to the guy in the town he won't accept it ToT also when I use the green key on the door blocking the ladder up to the blue zone it doesn't work either? If im being dum I'll try again cos I really want to beat it :)
Very original combo of classic genres, plays wonderfully and it’s a refreshing experience. If anything the info at the start is a bit too long, but I guess resolution limitations force some stuff in. Good graphics, quite retro, and a nice catchy music to improve immersion. Overall a great entry!
Really enjoyed this experience. I never thought that snake could be played like that. Graphics and sounds are nice :) Good game! Nice job!
Good one, I enjoyed playing this. I like the way making it turn based made the puzzle aspect much more present. I also liked the world and the artwork. If I have just one complaint it's that moving the world one tile at a time is a little bit jarring. A couple or few quick transitional frames would make the whole thing feel a lot smoother. Also, those damn crabs. I have just two complaints :D
i never thought snake would get a story mode but its really good, great job no complains here just enjoyment.
This is a surprisingly pleasant (and unexpected) combination! It worked exceptionally well in my opinion. I liked the quests, strategizing around the paths (and knowing when to avoid certain paths to prevent dead-ends), and the longer you got, more challenging and risky everything became.
It's not immediately obvious, but I'm thinking now that the best strategy may be to avoid growing altogether until you nail all the quests. Because when backtracking is necessary, your body can really get in your way (literally)
I may return to this later to try and get everything, I only got 104 apples so far:
Great job!
I found it fun to play! the scaling of the challenge was perfect. Made me think more about my movements as I progressed further
This is one of those completely audacious mechanical ideas that is the perfect fodder for experimentation in a jam of this nature. The farthest I've gotten so far is 61 length, which was still completely absurd and hilarious to maneuver around. Sometimes the music would cut out until I hit a trigger that would switch to different music. In the first dungeon there was a gem in a corner that you couldn't get without killing yourself (or perhaps some item from a future section): running into that zone with a shield would be very likely to completely softlock your game, forcing a page reset. Those were the only two real issues I found in my playtime, of which there will probably be more later on! Nice game!
Love it! Wouldn't have thought a turn-based snake game with RPG elements would be fun, but you've proved me wrong!
Awesome game! Very fun to explore the world while also thinking on the best route, and the way back too.
Phenomenal concept, I didn't know the world needed a snake/Zelda(?) mashup. Really delightful level design, every time I ran into a new arrangement of trees, apples, and crabs I had to pause and think about it.
Also, I can't be the only one who instinctively moved the snake to the rhythm of the music. Frankly, throw necrodancer into the mashup and this might be perfect.
Don't worry you weren't the only one to move the snek to the rhythm
I died SOOOOO many times! Good art, music and gameplay.
I love this concept so dang much. This is a brilliant mashup and a solid execution. I don't know what else to say. This is extremely fun, and totally the sort of thing I go for. Excellent work!
I haven't finished yet, but I have a feeling I'll keep trying until I do. This could be expanded into a big ole game.
I like the concept and sound effects. Great job!
If I had a nickel for every time I smashed my face into a tree and died I'd have an embarrassing amount of money. :) Lots of fun and very creative concept, makes you wonder why we don't see more games based on snake. Definitely nailed the retro aesthetic, I really liked the different environments and how each one feels unique.
Fun concept, executed well. A small bit of my game also had a turn-based snake game (although not nearly as sophisticated as yours), so I understand how tricky it can be to make interesting challenges with those restrictions. I didn't come close to beating this, but I imagine I'll come back and give it a few more tries. I'd love to see what a successful run looks like.
Good job on emulating the style of classic adventure games. The level design is also noteworthy as well - it strikes a good balance between the puzzle and exploration aspects. as a result, the game has a pretty nice flow to it. Because of the permadeath mechanic, the player often ends up going over the same areas frequently so adding a timer would add some replay value by giving the player an incentive to optimize travelling through areas they've already seen. Regardless, I had a lot of fun playing!
also wtf this game is huge it's impressive how much you got done withing the time frame
This game is really good. It really does feel like a classic old game. The music and art are good and fit well. It took me a while to realize this was based on snake. It's a little difficult but I had fun exploring a new way each time I died. Really great game.
