Themes
Originally intended to use "All Systems Have Broken", but the game had quickly strayed away from the theme.

Tools
Godot for the game; Aseprite for the art; Audacity & Freesound for the audio (and lots of Google searches)

Lessons
Sometimes it’s better to admit your solution is wrong or inefficient and rewrite your code, rather than trying to fix an endless pile of bugs.

Super glad I managed to find this on stream! Game has a unique atmosphere and it delivers it perfectly. Usually not into these kind of games, but with all the options and the CLI thingy I’m won over.

The first comms message was a bit more muddled than it should have been, otherwise I’m digging what you have here. Learning all the different meanings to sounds and commands is a curve, but a curve that can be learnt.

Graphically and sounds design wise it is on point and delivers, really solid entry to the jam!

The aesthetic and atmosphere was so so perfect and consistent I was blown away. And the fact that you were able to cram all that within the the resolution of this jam? Masterful.  I never thought about how well FNAF type mechanics would work with something like Alien but it's such a great pairing. Your UI, audio, just everything is brilliant.  Amazing work, really.

Thanks a lot for the kind words! Starting the project I wasn’t really sure how well it’d turn out, but it seems like people enjoy it a fair bit

The ATMOSPHERE holy moly!! Incredible work on this submission, the audio in this game is absolute perfection. The panic I felt not knowing immediately what I was doing but hearing an strange walking noise was absolutely terrifying 👏

Thanks, Fletch! It’s really nice to hear you got at least a bit spooked by my work and audio design!

Absolutely loved the graphic style in this and the game was just overall really well done! Incredible work!

loved the concept of the game, the sound audio pushed it even further in my opinion. great job!

Liked this a lot. Great concept and execution, properly scary and smart use of audio.

Really nice use of sound helps alot determining where the creature is without using too much power for sensors. Nice implementation of the computer interface, typing the commands instead of just clicking adds to the suspense when you need to react quickly.

I managed to survive, but power went out shortly before in both areas 1 and 2, and my computer was also already close to shutting down.

Developer

Thanks for your nice words! I probably should’ve telegraphed it to the player a bit better, but the generators can be shut down to conserve their energy levels - this, however, prevents you from using sensors, lures and doors that are in the generator’s operational region.

Thanks again for the kind words!

Oh wow, this is amazing! The game has such strong Alien vibes- absolutely loved it! Loved the art-style, very retrofuturism, and the audio is amazing as well especially, that creature crawling out of the vents as the audio pans before it strikes.
Really atmospheric, it gave me major Alien Isolation savegame booth panic.

Developer

I absolutely love when people notice the games that were my references! Creating panic, like Alien: Isolation was one of my goals to begin with

Thanks a lot for the kind words!

The visuals on this are so clean, I absolutely love the chromatic aberration effect and the fact that it stays within the pixel grid. The audio and sfx are nice as well. Nice job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot! Coming up with this effects, I was surprised how well they translated to the low-size resolution, so it is nice hearing someone else appreciates them as much as I do!

I’ll also just mention your game. It is ADDICTING. Really great job on it! The soundtrack is an absolute banger as well, can’t wait to see what else you got in store!

Came back to this just to comment on how awesome your visuals and effects were, everything oozes so much character.

Hey, again! Thanks a lot. I really enjoy putting a lot of effort into the athmosphere of the game - it seems like something I am at least somewhat decent at. I appreciate you finding my work praise-worthy!

Cheers
