I love this concept of changing colors to affect us (the player) as well as our environments! I feel that you implemented this concept really well to fit in with the limitation! The level design was super enjoyable to play through, especially the bonus level! The visuals are super cute and neat, the animations are fun, and the music fits in well with the created aesthetic!
Something that I would have liked to see is an indicator of some sort on the UI to know what color we are on, and which one we will cycle into if we click Mouse Button 1 or Mouse Button 2, but maybe that's just because my peanut brain can't retain the order of colors, ahaha~ ^^a
All in all, you have created a very fun, visually appealing game with a great concept and a very good use of the limitation! Be proud of a job well done!! ^^
Thank you! There is a major issue in not showing the player what color they will become next. I submitted this game a few hours early and really wish I hadn’t because I could’ve used that time to add stuff like that. Thank you so much for playing and leaving a review!
very clean game, and good implementation of the color theme :D
Thank you!
This is a REALLY good game, especially for a game jam! Great job, and it was lots of fun! :)
Thank you!
Its so good
Thank you!
the game is bugging in my device(chrome) :/
The HTML version can have issues, try this version https://creekworks.itch.io/neon-copy-web-compatable. If that doesn’t work, you can download it.
i very much appreciate your adding controller support! i’m using a six-button pad, so i’m not sure if a PS4-style controller would have made it make more sense, but i still wasn’t certain even at the end of the game which colour i would be when i pressed a switch button
seeing the enemies clip into the wall on that one level was a bit jarring. would have expected them to turn around
but overall this was a fun little puzzle platformer :3
The color changing does have the problem of not informing the player of which color they are changing too. The enemies clipping into the wall was a time saving measure and I might fix it at some point. Thank you!
it was an interesting experience and quite fun... But I felt more like I was playing a puzzle game than an action/physics.
And that made the physics of the cube and the platformer controllers seems kind of disrupting.
I can see the entry and exit of the level acting as a "Cheat sheet" of the color changes, but I think I would still like to have it in my UI...
It's frustrating having to change the colors without having certainty about the change and there is no time to have it memorized.
And if the level design is simply going to ignore the possibility of color changing as a mechanic (Just keeping choosing between forward and backward) I'm not sure if it is improving the experience.
But overall it was quite fun. I finished the bonus level as well. Good Job.
Thank you! I had difficulty in making this a puzzle game or an action game. The current set of levels doesn’t really use either option to their full potential. If I had more time, I would have possibly made the color changing be something like seen in Hue and have been able to make the levels fit into the best option for this game. Thank you for the feedback!
Wow you really killed it with this game. Super clean, interesting gameplay, and lovely music/sfx. Something about the whole game was just very pleasing to the eyes!
Thank you!
really polished and fun although on the second level when my character landed they just stretched out and got stuck in the wall and i got softlocked :( also the audio is awesome especially whatever plays when you beat a level
Thank you! I’m sorry to hear you got stuck. Do you know what caused it?
not sure. it might just be a problem with the HTML5 version of the game. It works fine for me now though. I think when it happened I was scrolling on the actual website page which might have messed something up internally idk. doesn't seem like too big of a bug hah :0
Okay, I’m happy it’s no longer a problem for you! Thanks for playing!
Good use of theme but not limitation, that said it was pretty enjoyable, feel you pushed the theme idea as far as it can go and excellent taste in music. Occasionally the player can get stuck inside the platforms but its not game breaking.
An interesting platformer concept! I enjoyed it. It can definitely be challenging to time the correct color switch. Visuals were pretty good as well as the sound. Nice work!
Thank you!
Glitchy when played in browser, but a fun game.
This version may work better for your device https://creekworks.itch.io/neon-copy-web-compatable
A good game! The use of the limitation is a bit off. 7/10
The limitation did feel somewhat forced in. Thanks for playing!
Really good game. Got me hyped up at mashing the mouse button to avoid hitting the enemies. :D Keep it up with such good games. Did you do the art yourself too?
I did do the art myself and thank you!
This is a very good game! When I opened up the game, figuring out how to play was straightforward. The level design was very interesting and made me use my brain, especially the bonus level!
Thanks!
I don't know why but my game looks like this when I try to play it in browser:
Initially I just thought it was a really cool aesthetic until I couldn't figure out what to do and decided to check the screenshots lol!
The exe worked though!
I really liked the puzzles, an interesting combination of platforming and quick thinking puzzle resolution.
If I were to give any constructive feedback, I'd say the stopping is a little bit too slippery and the acceleration of the character a bit too fast. The two of those in combination made putting the block on the button really difficult.
Also some sort of visual indicator of which color is back and forward would be helpful.
I may have exported the game for only chrome browsers. I don’t know if that was the problem. Thanks for the feedback on the character controls. I think an indicator was planned at some point but got lost in the rush to finish. Thanks!
The Visual indicator and a slowed down character are now in version 1.1. Thanks for the feedback!
Hello! The game is really cool!
I found bugs like, you can stuck yourself on a platform or if you die the previous activated platform stay activated.
The cube we have to move should snap on the buttom it triggers.
Great job and keep doing games.
Thanks! Snaping to the button is a good idea.
Thanks for the feedback all issues are now fixed in version 1.1!
Love the aesthetics, and some levels were really thought out. Completed the game
Thank you! The level quality was kind of inconsistent, but I think there are a few good ones.
Its Cool, and fix the bug where u get stuck in the blocks when you change the color. I literally skipped a few levels using that boost u get from that haha, Speedrun tactics !
Cool game
Thank for playing!
Great concept! It is a bit frustrating when the boxes fall out of bounds but overall I enjoyed it!
The boxes where an issue, if I had more time, I probably could’ve figured out how to fix them. Thanks for playing and the feedback!
Boxes now respawn in version 1.1 when you kick them out!
