The artwork and the music are amazing!

I wasn't able to play very well because the game didn't fit my screen >_< And the fullscreen button didn't help, but oh well! It looks REALLY good, the art is impeccable. I love upgrades, so this looks like a game I could play for a long time x) Good job!

Amazing art! And the song fits perfectly with the game!

As it already has been said in the previous comments, they are some bugs and limitations in the gameplay. My biggest concern is that sometimes the game is unfair (due to how lava and enemies spawn). Otherwise, the gameplay is really promising. I am looking forward to see more of your future games!

Love the 2D art!p
The concept of the game is interesting, but the demo felt too short to start enjoying it
I feel like as long as you move fast, you win
Also, the boosts don't seem very balanced (I first started maxing the strength, but didn't feel like it was doing much, and then maxed the hp, +5 is op)

When I say "it felt too short", I mean that I like the way you can select what kind of upgrade you want to have, but it feels like it's a long term decision, and since the game is rather short (game jam), it doesn't feel like it has any impact

absolutely love the art! Found myself wanting to play more levels than available, but one thing that I did feel a little spun by -- as far as I could tell, the perma-fly buff didnt seem to let me do anything different (was expecting maybe I could fly over gaps for instance?) It also made me wonder if maybe I could normally do a single gap and the flying let me do multiple (which also could not, as far as I could tell)

Great work, and I might just have to play a few more times -- even the upgrade icons are too cute ! :)

Developer(+1)

Correct, the upgrade is still requiring fixes so i deprecated it before release.

Very charming art, I appreciate the choice of the limited palette. The game was a bit tricky at times, but with a couple of runs it was easy to steamroll the challenge.

I love the look and sound of the game. The concept is solid but the difficulty seems a bit brutal, especially how quick the lava expands. I started the game and died almost instantly because you have to move immediately. That same speed made it so I felt like I could never stick around in a level to farm gems whether I wanted to be risky or not. But its good fun and the presentation really makes it stand out. Great job!

The color palette was very eye candy!

Game looks very nice!

The gameplay is amazing and the art is just wow. I do wish the game was a bit easier, though and it would explain how to beat the archers. I love roguelites so this was really enjoyable for me!

AMAZING art and character designs and palettes. Every frame of the game was so lovely, even when I was getting melted alive or bodied by archers. Loved the music and SFX too. I really love the fast-paced sort-of-real-time sort-of-turn-based roguelite-ish SRPG gameplay. The design choice of incentivizing taking your time (via being greedy and getting better upgrades) while simultaneously penalizing it through increasing lethal stage hazards the longer you take was well-thought-out and compelling.

I did encounter a few issues while playing (apologies for the wall of text; I figure it would potentially be helpful for bug testing):

I beat the game on my first try just running straight at enemies (probably got lucky) and picking max HP upgrades since they heal you a bit. When I clicked Retry after the successful escape screen, I still had my stats and gems from before (if this is intentional, I like it, but it would probably be good to be able to start a new game too) and wanted to make an OP greedy dragon. But when I picked the flight upgrade, it didn't do anything and I still couldn't move over the small lava tiles.

I also got softlocked by lava a few times (retrying a few times fixed it) and once I got softlocked because my dragon spawned at the bottom of a one-tile column in between the lava and the void, where the only way to the right was several tiles above me so I couldn't make it there in time. I don't remember how I fixed this actually but I did manage to progress after a bit. Probably game overing enough times.

I am not completely sure what the offense upgrade does as all the enemies seemed to die in one hit. I'm also not sure what the left click does since nothing seemed interactable while I was playing (don't underestimate how bad I am at games so these all could 100% be me).

All in all I played through several times (and game overed just as many times); there's something therapeutic about these bite-sized levels :) Great work!

This was extremely helpful; thank you. The softlock is something multiple people have mentioned before so im going to push that to top priority. Regarding the stats; its not intentional: they are supposed to be reset. I assume leaning into some kind of stat saving mechanic can improve replayability (altho it would make no sense lorewise).
The experience was focused on that vibe so im super glad you saw the potential in the game and you listed the bugs: we look forward in solving them once the voting period is over.

As always, thank you for playing!

Great game! Balance felt very nice on my playthrough, was on the edge of my seat the hole time, just scraping by!

looks stunning

The art is beautiful. I honestly have no idea how to avoid the archers but I had a ton of fun playing. Great job!

The art style is very cool with vibrant colors, charming character designs that instantly captivate me. Some minor issues, such as the game menu extending beyond the play area, but were easily fixed by switching to fullscreen mode. Although there was a small glitch with the game over screen not appearing on the first try, a simple browser refresh quickly resolved the issue, allowing for seamless gameplay thereafter.

The game is pretty fast-paced enhanced by seemingly randomly generated levels, offers exciting and varied playthroughs. The difficulty in the random generated levels does add to the game's depth, encouraging strategic thinking and adaptation. The game provides a engaging experience that showcases both creativity and skillful execution. Great job!

We are very proud of our artist: she has worked alone so hard for the project and she deserves all the recognition in the world.
I thank that you recognize both the potential of the mechanics and mention the bugs; that makes me feel at rest.
Good luck on the event! Looking forward to see you up on the results.

Cute lil character like, everything from art to the lil upgrade doodles to the sounds...absolutely perfect like no notes lol. The game was super fun but will softlock you sometimes xd. Good job on it :p

This is more of a technical feedback report:

First playthrough I got a soft lock, where I moved up and an enemy also moved left at the same time into the same square. Then we were overlapping and I couldn't move or progress the game.

Second playthrough I got a bit further then got stuck starting a level with 2/15 hp and unable to progress past the archers. Is there any way to dodge attacks consistently? I think it's impossible to go further. Every time I retry, I start with 2/15 hp.

Even quitting the game didn't fix it. I reset with 2/15 hp and without even pressing any keys, something would happen and I'd instantly die with -5/15 hp. Refreshing the browser didn't fix it either. Sometimes I started a game with a column of lava ahead of me too and nowhere to move. I tried to gather some better information but I couldn't recreate the bugs consistently. Sometimes it would happen, other times it would reset correctly. Sorry I can't be much more help.

But the art was really nice! I did like the concept of the game too, it was just not really possible to experience it smoothly in my playthrough. I liked all the upgrades and variety you implemented. The artwork in the sprites and the UI icons was lovely. Nice work! Just unfortunate the bugs got in the way of my experience.

Developer(+1)

Yes, i understand the frustration. We haven't experienced many of the bugs mentioned during testing so I'm glad you have reported them.
Once the Jam is over we can work on bug fixing to have a clean game in the end. Thank you for your time!
